COLLEGE PRAYER Advent Prayer Loving God, through your prophets and holy men and women, you spoke to future generations of our need to prepare our hearts. Bless the holy men and women who are the prophets of our day. As we look to your Son's Second Coming, may we be always aware of your power to shape the future. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen Prayer for Advent

SPECIALISM SUCCESS Fifteen eager Career Ready students experienced their first Master Class in The Romero Centre this week. The Business and Economics students enrolled onto the Career Ready Programme last month and Steve Bridge, the Regional Manager, was eager to meet them all. He delivered the Master Class which was designed as an introduction to the programme so that the students knew what to expect. The most important message he got across to them was 'the more pro-active the students are and the more they put into the programme, the more they are going to get out of it'. Students are now gearing up for their Capital Experience, a visit to London for an official launch ceremony and a visit to a large city based company.

ADVENT SERVICE Our Advent Services this year will take place on Thursday December 1, the arrangements for which are as follows: Periods 3 & 4 - Years 7 & 9 Periods 5 & 6 - Years 10 & 11 Periods 7 & 8 - Year 8 & 6th Form

PARENTS AS PARTNERS OUTDOOR WEAR Now winter is here, we ask for the support of parents in ensuring that College policy is carried out regarding suitable black coats and scarves. Coats must be a black rain jacket that can be worn over a blazer and embroidered with the College badge for all Year 7 - 10 students. Smaller jackets or hoodies are not allowed. Scarves must be dark, plain, functional and not a fashion style scarf. Students should not wear scarves and coats in the main College buildings during the day.

FAMILY HOLIDAY ASSOCIATION Family Holiday Association – Holiday Grant (UK) If any parents believe they are entitled to the grant below then please speak to your child's Year Learning Leader and an application will be made on your behalf. Statement from the FHA The Family Holiday Association (FHA) has announced that its funding programme open for applications. HIGHER ACHIEVERS AT ALL HALLOWS This term students from Year 11 and Year 13 attended an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) day at the University of Manchester. Students had a session on research skills and were given access to the vast array of resources in the university library. Students came back to College with lots of new ideas and are now excited to embark on their projects. 4 students from Year 12 took part in the Senior Team Maths Challenge held at the University of Manchester. The team were fantastic and a real credit to the College. They were competing against students from around 30 schools, many of whom were in year 13. The team are already preparing to take part in next years competition. Well done!

DUKE OF ENDINBURGH All new DofE participants need to collect a letter from Miss Mellor in the Pastoral office. There will be a meeting on Monday 5th December at 3:30-4:30 in the College hall for all current and new participants.

The holidays provided in the UK. Holidays breaks include free accommodation, linen rental, entertainment passes and holiday insurance (subject to medical conditions). FHA may also make a contribution towards the family's holiday expenses. To be eligible families must be on a low income (household income must be less than £24,000), not be going on holiday this year and be unlikely to afford a day out. Thus, the Obote family lost their mother after a long illness…it was such a painful experience for Dad and the two children, Odean and Ida. Thankfully, the Family Holiday Association was able to offer the family a much-needed break, and time to come to terms with their bereavement. The closing date for applications is the 31st December 2016 http:// www.familyholidayassociation.org.uk/
