College Prayer
Prayer for students soon to be Confirmed (and indeed all of our students) Creator Spirit, strengthen our students with your gifts of grace, to love and serve as disciples of Christ. Grant that they may grow into the fullness of the stature of Christ. Fill them with the joy of your presence. Increase in them the fruit of your Spirit: the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of love, patience and gentleness, the spirit of wonder and true holiness. Through Christ our Lord.
Parents As Partners Every student should carry with them everyday a pen, pencil, ruler calculator and their planner, in addition to their exercise books and textbooks. Please use the holidays as an opportunity to restock. Years 7 to 10 will have their end of year exams after the holidays so this will help them be prepared for these when they come.
Amen Prayer Focus: Gifts of the holy spirit

Opening Hours: Monday – Thursday 8.15am – 5pm Friday 8.15 am – 4pm Borrowing Books: Years 7 – 11, 2 books 2 weeks Years 12 & 13, 3 books 3 weeks Please return books on time – items can always be renewed up to 3 times, at the Library desk. (More items can be borrowed by negotiation!) Library Information The AHCC Wiseman Library has over 6,000 items for students (and staff) to use for school work, personal interest and a relaxing read. There are also 29 computers for students to use for their homework. Ask Ms Sinclair, the Librarian, if you need any help. Summer Volunteering Opportunity Cheshire East Libraries are seeking young people aged 13+ to help run the annual Summer Reading Challenge and support children’s literacy in their branches over the summer holiday. Taking part is suitable for students participating in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme. For more information, log on to: https:// www.cheshireeast.gov.uk/libraries/ latest_library_news.aspx
Aspire Archive The library now holds all the back copies of the AHCC magazine, Aspire, for students to access and see what their predecessors got up to in the past. Any student who is featured in Aspire can claim a copy of the magazine from Ms Sinclair in the Library to keep.
Recommended Read: Inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement, this is a powerful, gripping and piercingly relevant YA novel about inequality, police violence, 21st century prejudice and one girl’s struggle for justice. Sixteen-year-old Starr lives in two worlds: the poor neighbourhood where she was born and raised and her posh high school in the suburbs. The uneasy balance between them is shattered when Starr is the only witness to the fatal shooting of her unarmed best friend, Khalil, by a police officer. Now what Starr says could destroy her community. It could also get her killed.
Book Amnesty A significant number of books went missing from the library last year, notably from the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, numerous Roald Dahl, Tom Gates and David Walliams titles, as well as all of the Geek Girl series. Many of these books were brand new. As I am sure you understand, purchasing and having to replace these items impacts heavily on our budget. Therefore, if you have any library books at home, I would ask kindly that they are returned, no questions asked. All our students can then benefit from an increased choice of books on the shelves. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support in this matter.
Carnegie Book Awards
