With peak cold and flu season finally here, it’s important to protect yourself and your family by booking your free flu vaccine online now. In addition to flu protection, free RSV vaccines are now available under the National Immunisation Program for specific high-risk groups. Following official Australian Government guidelines, eligibility includes pregnant women between 28 and 36 weeks of pregnancy, adults aged 75 years and older, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 60 years and over.

HOW YOUR PHARMACIST CAN HELP
When a sudden fever, body aches and a relentless cough hit during cold and flu season, it can leave you feeling completely wiped out. Thankfully, you don’t have to navigate the seasonal bugs alone. Your local pharmacist is there to help you find the right treatment and get you back on your feet.
While colds and flu need time to run their course, a pharmacist can help make your recovery a little more comfortable. Instead of guessing your way through the medicine aisle, a quick chat with your pharmacist can help you find the treatment that’s right for your symptoms.
Here are just a few ways your local pharmacy team can support your recovery.
TAILORED RELIEF
Pharmacists can recommend the right combination of decongestants, cough syrups and pain relief to help treat your symptoms safely without doubling up on active ingredients.
Product highlight: Maxigesic tablets have a dual-action formula combining paracetamol and ibuprofen in optimised doses.
PHARMACIST-ONLY MEDICATION
Pharmacists can guide you towards effective pharmacy-only medicines for severe sinus pressure or chesty coughs that aren’t available on supermarket shelves.
Product highlight: Sudafed Sinus & Pain Relief Day & Night PSE Tablets are a pharmacist-only medicine formulated to help relieve severe sinus congestion and pain.
SOOTHING RELIEF
We can recommend anti-inflammatory lozenges, anaesthetic throat sprays and nasal rinses to help clear your head and soothe a sore throat. Product highlight: Strepsils Herbal Cough Lozenges are specially formulated to help supress cough triggers and soothe irritated throats.
CAN YOU DO AT HOME TO BOUNCE BACK?

Alongside your pharmacy remedies, the best way to recover is to rest and let your immune system do its thing. Keep a water bottle or warm herbal tea close by to stay hydrated, and enjoy a warm shower to help clear your sinuses.
If you’re unsure which treatment is right for you, speak with your local pharmacist for personalised advice based on your symptoms. The right advice can help make your recovery as comfortable as possible.
