Welcome! I approach my thesis with full of the passion of small, playful and civic interventions that spread around within the urban context as I always wander around the city of Toronto with curiosity and thinking.

WANDER-LAND

wander

/ˈwändər/ v. walk or move in a leisurely, casual, or aimlessly way.

The thesis focuses on architecture in a small and intimate scale to redefining Liberty Village from a predominately commercial and vehicle environment into a park/playground. At the same time, interpreting the entity of architecture as fragments of experiences within the context of the environment as a unity rather than a building in a fixed spot.

The intention is to create a detour that transforms the pedestrian view of the urban context into a civic space. The injection of small interventions spread around Liberty Village as a perception of wander-land.

WITH PROGRAM Folies contain programs such as restaurant, stores, concert hall and emergency. It changes the conventional program of a public park that becomes richer.

WITHOUT PROGRAM The folies are formed by frames, stairs and ramps, which creates multiple walk-through spaces.

The quantity and variable heights of stele merge with the natural landscape of land, which triggers spontaneous movement of participants and interaction between the context and human beings.

INFORMATION CENTRE The monument has various heights change the view corridor that the participant will be more focus on the stele itself.

The position of the standing point decides the focal point. While standing at the lower steles area, the view corridor tends to go further back into the landscape

The divider acts as the units of the book shelf and structural support.

There are spaces have double ceiling height, which the book shelves become a display without a program, but it still considers as primary structural supports.
