SERENE RESIDENCE / YOUNGBLOOD CREATIONS

Serene Residence was a residential renovation project located at Serene Mont Kiara, Malaysia. It is a 3 storey modern house that is around 142 sqm per floor, making it a total of around 429 sqm. Designed for a young couple in their 30s with a young daughter, the home reflects their preference for a grand yet contemporary European aesthetic, with different spaces featuring unique pops of color.
The view on the right highlights the pantry and casual dining area, where a navy-blue color scheme with gold accents was used to provide a sense of elegance and luxury. The design includes a seamless integration of cabinetry with concealed doors leading to the main kitchen and a hidden fridge, maintaining a clean and cohesive look throughout the space.
Pantry & Casual
The living room combines modern elegance with a warm, comfortable ambiance contributed by the neutral, earth-toned colour scheme. The main design feature includes a striking backlit marble TV backing, adding a soft glow and texture to the space. White wooden panels were also used to add texture and create two concealed doors, providing a seamless transition to the other areas.

Located on the ground floor, the study room is a private area connected to the living room. Following the overall modern Europeon concept, the study also uses a navy blue colour scheme with gold accents. Designed as both a functional workspace and a personal display area, the room features minimalist yet stylish office furniture. The cabinetry behind the desk serves as a display case for the client’s figurine collection, with built-in lighting highlighting each piece. Additionally, it provides ample storage space for other office essentials, creating a blend of practicality and personalization that complements the sophisticated design theme of the home.
Study Room
The master bedroom was designed with the intention of blending luxury and comfort. The main design features a customdesigned headboard that frames a king-sized bed and matching side tables. The headboard is primarily cushioned to provide softness, while its outer edges showcase layered framing with integrated LED strips. These elements create a refined ambiance, adding a subtle, luxurious glow to the space.
The kid's bedroom was designed for the client's 8-year-old daughter, featuring her favourite colour, pastel pink, throughout the space. Playful details such as the decorative clouds and stars on the wardrobe and wall add a fun, charm to the space. The wardrobe's standout feature is a concealed dressing table, integrated with a pocket sliding door that allows it to blend seamlessly into the wardrobe when closed. The dressing table’s seat is designed to resemble a drawer, enhancing the room's clean, cohesive look while preserving functionality.

Gamuda Clinic was an interior renovation project situated within the Petaling Jaya Trade Centre, Malaysia. The project aimed to create a welcoming and soothing environment for both office workers and locals in the area. Unlike conventional clinics that often feel sterile and clinical, the client envisioned a space that exuded a "spa-like" ambiance—offering warmth, relaxation, and comfort to visitors.
To achieve this, the design incorporated a palette of earthy tones, such as warm beige, soft browns, and muted greens, to evoke a sense of tranquility and connection to nature. The design also harmonized seamlessly with the building’s raw materials and its verdant surroundings, creating an integrated, natureinspired retreat in the heart of the trade centre.
This clinic waiting area features a bright, open layout. The main feature is the mural that incorparated curved-shapes and earthy colours, adding a soft, relaxing touch to the clinic.

The same wall design extends seamlessly into the consultation and treatment rooms, ensuring a cohesive, unified aesthetic throughout the clinic. Semi-opaque glass stickers featuring curved motifs were also applied to the sliding doors, providing privacy while echoing the gentle shapes and colors used in the rest of the space.

BizArt Atelier is a combination of a creative Arts Incubator and Experiential Marketspace. It aims to serve as a common ground for creative growth and opportunities, connecting creatives of different fields together to promote collaborative and innovation. It also aims to provide exposure to emerging creatives and develop business senses. The main types of artists focused are those in performing arts, multimedia, and artisan fields.
The project's site is set in the Timber Yard, Port Melbourne. The Timber Yard was built on the philosophy of recycling and up cycling, as it was once used for timber storage and fabrication.

Thinking Out of the Box
Currently, it is only used as an occasional events space. It comprises of indoor and outdoor spaces, and can hold up to 1500 guests for events.
The project concept centers on "Thinking Outside the Box" and "The Artist Mindset". The existing warehouse on site is used as the art incubator, symbolizing this "box."
Inside, artists are in an ideation phase, reflected by organic interior shapes that mirror their evolving mindsets. In contrast, the outdoor space, used as the Experiential Marketspace, uses more refined, rounded shapes to represent artists' growth as they prepare to market themselves.

EXPERIENTIAL MARKETPLACE
The Experiential Marketplace part of the project is more targeted toward the general public, offering them opportunities to explore art and interact directly with artists. It also provides a valuable platform for artists to showcase their work, gain visibility, and connect with audiences through exhibitions, markets, and live performances.
In contrast, the existing warehouse functions as the Art Incubator. While there are some areas targeted toward the public such as the workshops and cafe, its primary focus is as a collaborative space and resource hub for artists across various disciplines. The artists targeted includes fine artists (painters, textile designers, 3D sculptors), digital media artists and musicians. While designated areas cater to specific art forms, a shared central collaboration space and casual workstations throughout encourage spontaneous interaction and networking, fostering a dynamic creative community.

The main exhibition area showcases tradiotional artworks like paintings and textile design works. Inspired by the fluidity of fabric, the display panels along the sides gracefully drape down from the ceiling to showcase textile pieces, while paintings are suspended at the center. A circular skylight is featured above, enhancing the space with natural light and adding a striking architectural element.
The Art + Play Area is a playground that blends art creation with play, encouraging children to explore their creativity in a fun, interactive setting. Four distinct play structures are designed to showcase various forms of art, including weaving, drawing, music, and shadow play, allowing children to engage with different artistic expressions as they play.

The Art Market consists of two primary areas: the Meet & Greet Area and the Retail Area. The Meet & Greet Area allows the public to directly interact with artists. It offers simple booths, giving artists the freedom to personalize their spaces. The Retail Area, in contrast, features a display wall showcasing works from multiple artists at once, providing a curated shopping experience.
The Performance Area adds a vibrant energy to the Experiential Marketplace, providing performances by individual musicians and small bands. A key design element here is the use of rotating panels, which not only serve as space dividers but also double as art displays, adding a interactive element.

Upon entering the Art Incubator, public areas like workshops and a cafe are immediately accessible on the left and right, while the Central Collab Area, the heart of the space, stands prominently in the middle.
The overall form of the Art Incubator is based on the existing columns. By dividing the space along these columns, a central core is created, with both sides wrapping around it, much like an egg in an incubator. Varied floor levels and voids are then added for more depth and dynamism.

The Central Collab Area is the primary hub for interaction and collaboration, designed as an indoor courtyard infused with natural elements and abundant light streaming in from an overhead void, creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere. A bookshelf on the left functions as a mini-library, offering resources for artists while also serving as a partition dividing public and private areas without fully enclosing the space.

The Open Studios offer a semi-private space designed for fine artists, with each side is equiped for its targeted discipline. The open layout encourages easy interaction and collaboration among of different fields.
Designed for digital media artists, the Digital Media Lab features flexible seating and hot desks that allow artists to work and collaborate freely. A large LED screen serves as a key resource, enabling artists to test and showcase interactive designs when needed.

The areas targeted toward musicians include the Live & Recording Area and Music Creation Area. The Live & Recording Area functions as both a private and semi-public area. When opened up it provides a indoor performance space, allowing audiences to enjoy performances from the ground floor. While closed up, it may be used as recording studio, complete with a control room and two isolation rooms to enhance audio quality and control.
The Music Creation Area, in contrast, is a more private space for composition and individual practice. It includes a private practice room and three smaller writing pods for focused work. A communal resource area with music books and CDs fosters interaction and collaboration, encouraging musicians to share ideas and inspirations.

REGENT STATION REDESIGN + ACTIVATION
JULY 2023
The project is set at Regent Station, with the aim to redesign the station with Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles and elements. In addition, a site activation strategy is incorporated to attract more people, increase public oversight, and foster a sense of safety for visitors.
The site activation included is a community building with coworking spaces and a daycare centre. Aimed at working adults and students who frequently pass through the station, these spaces offer a welcoming environment for people to gather and spend time while waiting for the train. The community building also provides easy access to the train station through a lift and bridge, ensuring seamless connectivity for visitors

Inspired by the abundant nature around the site, the overall design of the community building features a light timber, providing a sense of comfort and warmth. Vibrant pops of color are incorporated throughout the space, adding a dynamic and lively touch to the overall aesthetic.
A daycare center targeted toward adults working in the area is available in the community building. It includes areas for arts and crafts workshops for kids as well as a cozy play and resting area.

The primary function of the community building is to provide versatile co-working spaces that cater to different work styles. While the majority of the space is dedicated to hot desks, private meeting rooms, and semi-private pods are also available for more private discussions.
