It is a common position for pups because they are usually active and don’t like to miss out on any opportunity. Cool Off Up In the Air When dogs sleep on their spine with their legs held up in the air, it means they are trying to cool off their body. Since this position exposes the most sensitive areas of the dog’s body, it indicates that a dog sleeping in this position trusts his surroundings. Siesta in a Lion Way Head on the front limbs and the hind limbs mushily held under the belly means the dog is not totally asleep. He is just relaxing.
