Unhinged is a magazine collective exploring the weird and wonderful. Our name takes inspiration from the #unhingedfashiongirl that we all aim to be at heart. I’m Izel Dugen, illustrator and digital storyteller based in Leeds, UK. My work is narrative and character-based and thematically responds to and investigates the abstraction of human relationships through technology. I am particularly interested in technology that seeks to create a simulacrum of romantic interaction, such as otome games, AI, and the metaverse.
My most recent practice involved feeding love poetry through chatbots, thereby perverting them through a non-human medium, and recording the result. The outcome of this work was two animations based on the character Egg Salad, a princely AI love interest who embodied this subversion and algorithmication of love.

My name is Cat, I am a photography student and my current photographic project is called “Capturing Movement” and my aim is to create sculptural looking images using fabric. In the images shown, I tested out shooting on location instead of in a studio, and used the wind to move and shape the fabric. The sky acts as a backdrop and the clouds add definition to the images. This is currently an on-going series featuring small sets of images with different ways of Capturing Movement.
