illa la Selva, originariamente di proprietà della famiglia fiorentina de’ Medici dagli inizi del 1400, sorge sugli antichi resti di una torre di guardia fortificata, a difesa dell’imbocco della rigogliosa Valle dell’Ambra, tra Siena, Arezzo e Firenze.

Già in epoca medicea vi si coltivava la vigna per la produzione di vino. A testimonianza di questo, esistono scritture che attestano la predilezione dei Medici per i vini valdambrini. Villa la Selva sorge a Montebenichi, al confine con il Chianti Classico, in un area ricca di pascoli e boschi che conferiscono al paesaggio rurale un carattere selvaggio e ancora vergine. Oggi la proprietà, completamente ristrutturata, oltre alla produzione di vino, svolge un’attività di agriturismo di ottimo livello. Le antiche case contornate dalle vigne, offrono la possibilità di trascorrere una vacanza unica e autentica.

illa la Selva was originally owned by the florentine De’ Medici family in the early 1400s. It was built on the ancient remains of a fortified watch-tower which was used to defend the entrance to the luxuriant Ambra valley, situated between Siena, Arezzo and Florence. Vines have been cultivated in this area for the production of wine since Medicean times, as demonstrated by documents testifying to the Medici family’s predilection for the wines of the Ambra valley.

Villa la Selva is located at Montebenichi on the borders of the Chianti Classico district, in an area rich in pasture and woodland giving the rural landscape a wild, unspoiled appearance. Today, in addition to wine production, the estate’s completely renovated buildings offer excellent farm holiday facilities. The old farmhouses surrounded by vineyards offer visitors the chance to experience a unique, authentic holiday.

e case di Villa la Selva sono antiche case coloniche in pietra, perfettamente ristrutturate ed arredate con mobili d’epoca legati alle memorie della campagna toscana.

Ogni casa garantisce totale indipendenza e riservatezza, giardini di uso esclusivo, con arredi per esterno e barbecue.

In casa ogni confort: cucine attrezzate, soggiorni con angolo tv e caminetto e camere dotate di servizi e guardaroba.

Fuori il verde della campagna toscana, l’aroma del rosmarino, della salvia e dei fiori, la luce nitida di un cielo limpido. Tutto intorno vigne ed oliveti, più avanti boschi, castelli, borghi e rocche fortificate.

he accommodation at Villa la Selva consists of old stone farmhouses which have been perfectly renovated and furnished using vintage pieces linked to the history of the Tuscan countryside.

Each house offers complete independence and privacy including a garden for the exclusive use of the occupants complete with outdoor furnishings and barbecue. Inside the houses, everything is just perfect: fully equipped kitchens, living rooms with TV area and fireplace, bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and wardrobes. Outside is the greenery of the Tuscan countryside, the smell of rosemary, sage and flowers, the silence broken only by the chirping of the birds in the clear light of a transparent sky. Nearby are vineyards and olive-groves, further away woods, castles, hamlets and fortresses.

illa la Selva è luogo di antica memoria e tradizione: sin dai tempi etruschi e romani vi si coltivava la vite e non a caso la nobile famiglia fiorentina dei Medici, cui apparteneva fino dal Quattrocento, la riteneva una delle tenute più prestigiose.

Oggi la villa principale della tenuta, di mq. 1.000 circa, è un’esclusiva dimora con 6 prestigiose suites e camere accuratamente arredate con mobili d’epoca autentici.

illa la Selva is a place of ancient memory and tradition: vines have been cultivated here since Etruscan and Roman times and it is no coincidence that the noble Medici family of Florence, to whom the property belonged in the 1400s, considered it to be one of their most prestigious estates.

Today Villa la Selva is an exclusive residence with six impressive bedrooms and suites which have been carefully filled with authentic period furniture.

t is possible to book guided tasting sessions for small groups as well as visits to the cellars and vineyards. In this way, visitors can learn about how the wines are made and preserved and enjoy their bouquets and flavors. Villa la Selva si estende per circa 100 ettari di terreno, di cui 22 destinati a vigneto.

Su appezzamenti piantati con densitĂ altissime, fino a 10.000 viti per ettaro, si coltivano prevalentemente Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot ed in parte Malvasia e Trebbiano Toscano.

Villa la Selva covers an area of approximately 100 hectares of land, 22 of which are vineyards. Mainly Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and, in part, Malvasia and Trebbiano Toscano are cultivated on plots planted with a very high density of up to 10,000 vines per hectare.

Selvamaggio Vitigni: Cabernet Sauvignon.

Vigneti: Di proprietà, piantati ad altissima densità, con 10.000 viti a ettaro Raccolta: Manuale, in piccole casse da 15 Kg. Affinamento: 18 mesi in barriques, più della metà nuove, seguiti da 5-6 mesi di bottiglia.

Stile: Dal gusto attuale e internazionale.

Rosso rubino profondo, molto intenso.

Fruttato, balsamico, minerale, con sentori speziati, ha un profilo aromatico elegante, ampio e persistente.

Di grande struttura, ricco, con tannino dolce, possente e granoso.

* Vine varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon. * Vineyards: estate-owned, planted with a high density of 10,000 vines per hectare.

* Harvesting: grapes are hand-picked and placed in small 15 Kg crates. * Aging: 18 months in barriques, more than half of which are new, followed by 5-6 months of bottling aging.

* Style: Up-to-date, international flavor.

Deep, very intense ruby red. Fruity, balsamic, mineral, with spicy scents, it has an elegant, full and persistent aromatic profile. Good structure, rich, with sweet tannins, powerful and granular.

Merlo Rosso Vitigni: Cabernet Sauvignon e Sangiovese.

Vigneti: Di proprietà, piantati con densità di circa 9.000 viti a ettaro.

Raccolta: Manuale, in piccole casse da 15 Kg. Affinamento: 18 mesi in barriques di rovere francese da 225 litri di cui 60% nuove e 40% di 1° vino (barrique usate l’anno precedente), seguiti da almeno 6 mesi di bottiglia.

Stile: Rosso rubino cupo, molto intenso con note violacee; lievi tonalità granate appena evidenti..

Ampio, elegante, fine, persistente, terroso con note minerali integrate al fruttato e a una dolce speziatura.

Attacco dolce con sensazioni di ingresso in bocca ricche di struttura.

Trama tannica fitta ma dolce e setosa, tannino in grande equilibrio con la dolcezza del vino.

Grasso e voluminoso ricco di sensazioni fruttate e speziate a fine bocca.

* Vine varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese. * Vineyards: estate-owned, planted with a density of approximately 9,000 vines per hectare.* Harvesting: grapes are hand-picked and placed in small 15 Kg crates.

* Aging: 18 months in 225 liter French oak barriques, 60% of which are new and 40% are one year old, followed by at least 6 months of bottle aging. * Style: Very intense dark ruby red, with purplish notes; light, barely evident shades of garnet.

Full, elegant, subtle, persistent, earthy, with hints of mineral combined with fruitiness and

a sweet spiciness.

Sweet opening with richly structured sensations at it enters the mouth.

Dense tannic yet sweet and silky texture, tannins very well balanced with the sweetness of the wine. Fat and bulky, rich in sensations, with a fruity, spicy aftertaste.

Vigna del Papa Vitigni: Trebbiano, Malvasia e S. Colombano.

Vigneti: Di proprietà, i più maturi dell’ azienda, piantati con densità di circa 5.000 viti a ettaro.

Appassimento: Manuale, in locali freschi e arieggiati, dove le uve sono rimaste per circa 3 mesi.

Affinamento: 5 anni in carati di rovere francese tra 100 e 225 litri di capacità, seguiti da 5-6 mesi di bottiglia.

Stile: Ricco e dolce,assolutamente rispettoso della tradizione toscana. Giallo dorato intenso con sfumature di oro antico.

Profumi di fiori e frutta gialli, miele, candito di agrumi e spezie.

Assai ricco, dolce, morbido e vellutato, dal gusto pieno e con sentori aromatici gustativi fruttati e di miele.

* Vine varieties: Trebbiano, Malvasia e S. Colombano. * Vineyards: estate-owned, the oldest on the farm, planted with a density of approximately 5,000 vines per hectare

* Harvesting: by hand, in cool, ventilated rooms, where the grapes remain for around 3 months. * Aging: 5 years in French oak barrels with a capacity of between 100 and 225 liters, followed by 5-6 months of bottle aging.

* Style: Rich and sweet, in full accordance with Tuscan tradition. Intense golden yellow with hints of old gold. Bouquet of flowers and yellow fruits, honey, candied citrus fruits and spices. Quite rich, sweet, soft and velvety, with a full taste and aromatic hints of fruity flavors and honey.

Felciaia Vitigni: Sangiovese.

Vigneti: Di proprietà, i più maturi dell’ azienda, piantati con densità di circa 5.000 viti a ettaro.

Raccolta: Manuale, in piccole casse da 15 Kg. Affinamento: 12 mesi in barriques, circa metà delle quali nuove, seguiti da 5-6 mesi di bottiglia.

Stile: Dal carettere tipicamente territoriale. Rosso rubino molto intenso. Fruttato, ampio e dolce, con sentori speziati e un finale lungo e persistente. Di ottima struttura, carnoso, morbido, con tannino evidente ma dolce.

* Vine varieties: Sangiovese. * Vineyards: estate-owned, the oldest on the farm, planted with a density of approximately 5,000 vines per hectare.

* Harvesting: grapes are hand-picked and placed in small 15 Kg crates. * Aging: 12 months in barriques, around half of which are new, followed by 5-6 months of bottle aging.

* Style: Character typical of the territory.

Very intense ruby red. Fruity, full and sweet, with a spicy scent and a long, persistent finish. Excellent structure, pulpy, soft, with evident but gentle tannins.

illa la Selva offre la possibilità di utilizzare gli ambienti suggestivi e tipici della sua struttura per eventi dalle atmosfere indimenticabili.

Le cerimonie ed i meetings possono essere organizzati nei giardini curatissimi della proprietà; nella piscina collocata a ridosso delle vigne del panorama unico e nella storica cantina, dagli altissimi soffitti ad arcata, particolarmente suggestiva.

Quest’ultima può contenere fino a 250 persone

t is possible to use the charming structures of the Villa la Selva to host events in an unforgettable atmosphere.

Ceremonies and meetings can be organized in the estate’s trim gardens, by the swimming pool that blends in naturally with the nearby vineyards, offering a unique panorama, or in the historic cellars, with their attractive high arched brick ceilings, that can hold up to 250 people.

On request, suppers, tasting sessions, cookery courses, art exhibitions and concerts can be organized.

Uscita A1 Valdarno, seguire per Bucine, proseguire per Ambra / Siena, superate Ambra e Pietraviva, girare a destra al bivio per Montebenichi.

Uscita A1 Valdichiana.

Seguire le indicazioni per Siena (Raccordo Siena-Bettolle) per ca 30 km.

Uscire alla Colonna del Grillo e seguire le indicazioni per Bucine. Dopo ca 2 Km girare a sinistra al bivio per Montebenichi.

Da Siena

Raccordo Siena-Bettolle, girare a sinistra per Arezzo e poi ancora a sinistra in localitĂ Colonna del Grillo, in direzione Bucine.

A1 Valdarno motorway exit, follow the signs for Bucine and continue towards Ambra / Siena. After passing Ambra and Pietraviva, turn right at the fork for Montebenichi.

from Rome

A1 Valdichiana motorway exit.

Follow the sign for Siena , take the Siena Bettolle branch road for about 30 km. Exit follow the sign for Colonna del Grillo and continue towards Bucine. After about 2 km, turn left at the fork for Montebenichi.

from Siena

Take the Siena-Bettolle branch road, turn left for Arezzo and then left again towards Colonna del Grillo, in the direction of Bucine.

After around 2 Km, turn left at the fork for Montebenichi.
