The Truffle is a hypogean, or underground fungus that grows to a depth of about 40-50 centimetres. In ancient times truffles were considered the food of Gods, with powerful aphrodisiac properties. The truffle’s main constituents are water and mineral salts, absorbed from soil by the tree roots on witch it lives symbiotically. The colour, taste and aroma of the truffle are determined by the type of its host tree. The colour usually varies from light grey to almost black and truffles can usually be found with the help of a specially trained dog.

BALLOON TOUR EXPERIENCE Get ready for a early start!

Ballooning is best done at sunrise as this is the calmest and most beautiful time of day. The landscape here is perfect for flying (We suggest casual clothing and walking shoes). The Balloon flight lasts more than 1 hour (50-55 Km), and concludes with traditional champagne breakfast. The whole experience will take approx 3 hours. It starts at the launch field at 6:00 a.m. from Montisi, a small village 30 km far from Montalcino. The inflation takes about 30-40 minutes, all passengers are kindly requested to participate at this operation. While waiting, coffee, cappuccino or tea, will be served. After landing at about 9:30 a.m. we will continue our trip by car in the Brunello area for a visit and wine tasting in prestigious winery in Montalcino. If you want to have lunch in Montalcino, the driver will be glad to suggest you a typical Tuscan restaurant.

The “ballooning season” is approximately between late Spring to early Autumn with annual variations. Sometimes May is cold and rainy and October is warm and sunny (you never know!) but the months in the middle of summer are regularly good for ballooning. The area in which we fly is about 20 miles south of Siena and is called the Crete Senesi, an area of rolling down land with steep valleys, villages on hilltops and isolated farm houses and castles. The wine towns of Montepulciano and Montalcino lie to the east and west of us, with Pienza and the Val d’Orcia to the south.

Bolgheri is a beautiful town situated in the heart of the Etruscan coast. It is famous for its Viale dei Cipressi (Avenue of Cypresses), described so eloquently in the poem by Giosue Carducci. The are 2.347 cypresses! Bolgheri is the land where the Supertuscan IGT brand was born in 1968. This “terroir”, to use a French word, made the luck of a few wine producing estates. The cultivation of wines was traditionally on a household scale being that Bolgheri is a seaside town. However, owing to its high standards, Bolgheri is still famous for the wines it produces. This includes the development of Sassicaia, Ornellaia and Tignanello, utilising the Super Tuscan tradition. In 1994, the creation of Bolgheri Rosso and Rosso Superiore showed the recognition of international grapes. BRUNELLO WINE TOUR Our wonderful day exploring the Brunello wine region begins when you are picked up at the hotel and taken on a scenic drive through the beautiful Tuscan countryside comfortably seated in a luxury vehicle with English-speaking driver. The first stop will be to a cutting-edge Brunello winery where we will taste an amazing Brunello wine and sample the spicy, intense extra virgin olive oil produced by the estate. We will visit the winery’s grounds and most importantly, the historic cellars. Next stop is the charming town of Montalcino, where we can enjoy lunch in a typical Tuscan restaurant and then have time to explore the town’s narrow winding streets filled with artisan food and wine shops. The restaurant L’Osteria di Passignano was open in 2000, founded by Ms. Allegra Antinori and Mr. Marcello Crini, a great expert and passionate of the Tuscan wine and food culture. The Consorzio Chianti Classico, to whom are registered 600 wineries, was created in order to value the Chianti Classico wine and its label. Its origins are ancient as in 1924 a group of producers met in Radda in Chianti and found the Consorzio for the safeguard of the Chianti wine, to protect the product and promote the develop of the territory of the Chianti according to the boundaries defined in 1716.

The symbol of the Consorzio is the Gallo Nero in a gold background, symbol of the Chianti Military Legion.

The customers who do not feel confident about riding on their own can ride on an endouble vespa as passengers (no refunds provided in this case). Our first and foremost concern is everyone’s safety. SAN GIMIGNANO & VOLTERRA TOUR San Gimignano’s skyline make it one of Italy’s most romantic hilltowns. A guided walk in the nearby countryside is a precious opportunity to explore the Tuscan scenery appreciated from the windows and ramparts of this medieval town. Placed on top of a hill dominating the Elsa Valley this lovely town is renowned for its numerous towers gathered in the historic centre and very dose to each other. Today there are only 14 of the original 72 towers. Although San Gimignano is of Etruscan origin, it started to develop only around the 12th century when the famous “Via Francigena” was built close by. Tuscany’s best white wine “Vernaccia di San Gimignano”, is available all over the town of towers. It was the first DOC wine in Italy and is today one of the few DOCG whites in the country. The Consortium of Vernaccia producers dates back at least to 1276.

PALIO OF SIENA The Palio, the most important Sienese celebration, presents culture, art, history and folklore in the heart of Tuscany: Siena. SAN GIMIGNANO, SIENA & CHIANTI The village of SAN GIMIGNANO, the Chianti area and the Medieval town of SIENA are situated in the heart of our beautiful Tuscany. They are all compelling stops for those tourists who want to remember this unique and impressive experience. The first stop of our tour is the village of San Gimignano, a magnificent example of a Medieval urban centre that is a UNESCO world heritage site. Here you will have free time to visit the village and its splendid squares, palaces, churches and the magnificent towers. The tour continues to the splendid area of the CHIANTI CLASSICO. We will stop by a typical Tuscan winery where you will visit the cellars and vineyards.
