He then mentioned the Fire again, turned his face away and sought refuge from it. He then said, ‘Guard yourselves against the Fire, even if only by giving half a date; and whoever does not have even that should do so with a kind word.’”

Fulfil the pledge of bai‘at and establish Tawhid: Huzoor (aa) concludes Jalsa Salana UK 2026 On Sunday, 26 July 2026, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih V (aa), delivered the concluding address of Jalsa Salana UK 2026 at Hadeeqatul Mahdi,

Huzoor (aa) arrived at the jalsa gah shortly before 4.15 pm and presided over the concluding session. The proceedings

began with the recitation of verses 52 to 57 of Surah al-Nur by Feroz Alam Sahib, followed by their Urdu translation from Tafsir-e-Saghir.

The engagement of the Promised Messiah (as) during Ramadan Seth Abdur-Rahman Sahib (ra) of Madras sought permission from the Promised Messiah (as) to return to Madras for some important work. He had also received a telegram to return.

The Promised Messiah (as) said: “It is absolutely imperative for you to remain here during this blessed month.” The Promised Messiah (as) also said: “I am ready to make such a prayer in your favour that would even move mountains.” Then, he said: “During these days, I sit with my friends less than usual and remain in solitude for longer. This is truly to the benefit of my friends. I pray in seclusion with time and freedom, and spend a better part of the night in prayers.”

4 - 5 August 4 August 2017: During his Friday sermon on this day, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V (aa) mentioned Shakil Ahmad Munir Sahib, former Missionary-in-Charge Australia, who had recently passed away at the age of 85. He wrote various books on Islam and Christianity, such as Islam in Spain, Shroud and other discoveries about Jesus, The reform Taleem-el-Islam Course Book, etc. In relation to the centenary celebrations of 1989, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IV (rh) had instructed the Jamaat to translate selected verses of the Holy Quran into 100 different languages and the Australian Jamaat was assigned the Maori language.

Despite old age, Shakil Ahmad Munir Sahib learnt the Maori language and completed translating the Holy Quran into the Maori language. When Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V (aa) visited New Zealand in 2013, the complete Maori translation of the Holy Quran was presented to the Maori king there.

5 August 1955: During his stay in London, the editor of the magazine Eastern World had an audience with Hazrat Musleh-e-Maud (ra) on this day.

On the same day, some students from Zanzibar, Africa, had the opportunity to see Huzoor (ra) and spend time in his company. (Tarikh-e-Ahmadiyyat, Vol. 16, p. 552) 5 August 1982: During his tour of Norway, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IV (rh) addressed a press conference on this day in Oslo. This was his first press conference outside Pakistan as Khalifatul Masih.

31 July 1910: On this day, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) addressed the general public, who had gathered at the Ahmadiyya Building in Lahore to listen to his words. Huzoor (ra) chose the topic of “Islam Compared with Other Religions” in Urdu.

2 August 2013: During his Friday sermon on this day, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V (aa) advised members of the Jamaat to save themselves from all kinds of indecencies. While speaking in detail about the vices and evils of this age, Huzoor (ra) instructed that an Ahmadi ought not to tread close to such evils, as once a person gets closer to them, they are controlled by Satan and are hugely influenced.

31 July 1920: On this day, Hazrat Musleh-e-Maud (ra) travelled to the hillside city of Dharamshala, now located in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. During his stay, Huzoor (ra) composed his famous poem, “Naunehalan-e-Jamaat …”.

1 August 1 August 1931: On this day, Hazrat Musleh-e-Maud (ra) had a meeting with the Viceroy of India, Lord Willingdon. During the meeting, Huzoor (ra) discussed the plight of the people of Kashmir. (Tarikh-e-Ahmadiyyat, Vol. 5, p. 452) 1 August 2016: On this day, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V (aa) launched MTA Africa, a new television channel established specifically to cater to the needs of the African people. (“Head of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community launches MTA International Africa TV Channel”, www.pressahmadiyya.com)

3 August 1917: On this day, Hazrat Musleh-e-Maud (ra) sent a delegation of Ahmadi missionaries and devotees to Mumbai. This team spent more than two months discharging their assigned duties and remained occupied in discussions with people of different faiths.

The delegation included Hazrat Mirza Bashir Ahmad MA (ra), Hazrat Mir Muhammad Ishaq (ra), Hazrat Sheikh Yaqub Ali Irfani (ra) and Hazrat Maulvi Muhammad Ismail (ra). Huzoor (ra) gave them 31 instructions, and despite the rain, he went outside Qadian to see off the delegation.

(Tarikh-e-Ahmadiyyat, Vol. 4, p.198) 3 August 1990: The whole world witnessed Iraq’s invasion and annexation of Kuwait on 2 August 1990. The following day, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IV (rh) began a series of sermons on this issue, amounting to 17 in total. These sermons have been compiled in book form. Huzoor (rh) unmasks the injustices and double standards of both Eastern and Western nations. (Silsila Ahmadiyya, Vol.

6 August 6 August 1898: On this day, the Promised Messiah (as) replied to a letter of Hazrat Nawab Muhammad Ali Khan (ra), in which Huzoor (as) unveiled an idea for a separate graveyard for his followers.

Huzoor (as) added that the idea of a special cemetery derived from the history of Islam and that the Sharia wholly backed and valued this. Since it could be a means of the forgiveness of others, because the company of the righteous never lets vulnerable ones remain deprived, he provided the example of the special burial ground in the holy city of Medina. Interestingly, this is years before the establishment of the Bahishti Maqbarah.

(Maktubat-e-Ahmad, Vol. 2, pp. 230-231) 6 August 1945: On this day, the United States callously dropped nuclear bombs on the Japanese city of Hiroshima and then on Nagasaki three days later. This horrific act resulted in a huge catastrophe, leaving thousands of people dead and injured while destroying the cities as well.

During his Friday sermon on 10 August 1945, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih II (ra) spoke about this heinous event and presented the Islamic teaching in relation to establishing peace in the world.

Rafiq Ahmad Hayat Sahib, Amir Jamaat UK, then read out a message from His Majesty the King, congratulating the Jamaat on the occasion of the Jalsa. Faraj Odeh Sahib recited couplets from an Arabic qasidah composed by the Promised Messiah (as) in praise of Allah the Almighty and published in Karamat-us-Sadiqeen. Its Urdu translation was presented by Mir Anjum Parvez Sahib.

An Urdu poem composed by the Promised Messiah (as) on the excellences of Islam and the Holy Prophet (sa) was recited

by Murtza Mannan Sahib. Thereafter, Nadimur Rahman Sahib, Secretary Talim UK, announced the names of Ahmadi students who had achieved academic distinction during the year.

Amir Sahib UK then announced that the 2026 Ahmadiyya Muslim Prize for the Advancement of Peace would be awarded to Mr Sompop Jantraka of Thailand.

Hazrat Amirul Momineen (aa) subsequently came to the podium, conveyed his salaam to everyone and commenced his address with the recitation of tashahhud, ta‘awwuz and Surah al-Fatihah.

The purpose of the Promised Messiah’s (as) advent Huzoor (aa) began by drawing attention to the immense grace of Allah the Almighty in enabling members of the Jamaat to be born in the era of the true servant of the Holy Prophet (sa).

The Promised Messiah (as) had been raised to convey the true teachings of Islam to the world and bring about its revival and rejuvenation. One of the principal purposes of his advent was to establish the absolute Unity of Allah and eradicate every form of shirk – the association of partners with Him. Huzoor (aa) explained that the Promised Messiah (as) came to remove the spiritual decline and moral corruption that had spread throughout the world and to cultivate true spirituality, sincerity and complete devotion to Allah. He sought to establish a Community of believers who would themselves remain free from every form of polytheism and strive to bring the rest of the world towards the worship of the One God. The eradication of immorality was also among the purposes of his advent.

The members of the Jamaat were therefore required to reform themselves and help save humanity from spiritual and moral ruin.

The conditions of bai‘at require practical transformation Huzoor (aa) said that, in accordance with the command of Allah the Almighty, the Promised Messiah (as) established a Jamaat and prescribed conditions upon which its members would enter his bai‘at, or pledge of allegiance.

These conditions were not ceremonial statements. Every person entering the Jamaat pledged sincerely that, until the end of their life, they would abstain from shirk, falsehood, fornication, adultery, improper glances, transgression and every other form of sin. They also pledged not to allow themselves to be overcome by their carnal desires.

Spiritual reformation further required

the observance of the five daily prayers according to the commandments of Allah and the example of the Holy Prophet (sa).

Members of the Jamaat were expected to strive to offer tahajjud, invoke salutations and blessings upon the Holy Prophet (sa), seek forgiveness for their sins, remember the favours of Allah and constantly praise and glorify Him. Huzoor (aa) reminded the Jamaat that a person who had entered bai‘at must not cause harm to the creation of Allah, whether through their tongue, their hands or by any other means. This obligation applied to the creation of Allah generally and to Muslims in particular.

A believer was required to remain faithful to God in every condition: in sorrow and happiness, adversity and prosperity. One must submit willingly to His commandments, remain steadfast when faced with hardship or humiliation in His cause and continue advancing rather than turning away when tested.

Huzoor (aa) added that members of the Jamaat must abandon arrogance and cultivate humility, cheerfulness, forbearance and meekness. The faith and the cause of Islam were to be held dearer than one’s life, wealth, honour, children and other loved ones. Believers were also required to devote themselves to serving the creation of Allah solely for His sake and to work for the benefit of humanity according to the abilities He had granted them.

Explaining the condition relating to obedience, Huzoor (aa) said that after entering bai‘at, a person must accept the teachings and commandments of Islam wholeheartedly. This commitment also required obedience to Khilafat, as the institution of Khilafat continued the mission of the Promised Messiah (as) in fulfilment of the promises of Allah the Almighty.

Merely identifying oneself as an Ahmadi was not sufficient. One could fulfil the right of bai‘at only by acting upon its conditions and bringing about a genuine moral and spiritual transformation.

Huzoor (aa) said that he had previously spoken and written extensively about the conditions of bai‘at, presenting references from the Holy Quran, the sayings of the Holy Prophet (sa) and the writings of the Promised Messiah (as). Nevertheless, these matters had to be repeated because the real objective was not simply to increase knowledge, but to act upon what had been taught.

Abstaining from every form of shirk Turning to the first condition of bai‘at, Huzoor (aa) said that the Promised Messiah (as) required every member of the Jamaat to abstain from shirk until death.

This condition, when properly understood and observed, protected a person from numerous other sins. The Promised Messiah (as) had explained that the purpose of the advent of every Prophet was to deliver people from sin, create an aversion to wrongdoing and guide humanity back towards God so that human beings could fulfil the purpose for which they had been created.

Sin had many forms and branches.

Even negligence towards one’s spiritual responsibilities could lead a person away

from Allah. As an unfortunate person continued to descend into sin, they became increasingly distant from God until their life became filled with spiritual anguish, hardship and darkness – a condition resembling hell.

The true objective of human life was therefore to become wholly devoted to Allah and completely averse to sin. Huzoor (aa) emphasised that shirk was among the gravest of all sins and that believers must guard themselves against it throughout their lives.

The pledge taken by the Holy Prophet (sa) Huzoor (aa) referred to the pledge taken by the Holy Prophet (sa) from his Companions at Aqaba. Hazrat Ubadah bin Samit (ra), who had participated in the Battle of Badr and was present at Aqaba, related that the Holy Prophet (sa) instructed the Companions to pledge that they would not associate anything with Allah, steal, commit adultery, make false accusations or disobey him in anything that was ma‘ruf.

Explaining the meaning of ma‘ruf, Huzoor (aa) said that it referred to whatever accorded with the Holy Quran and the teachings of the Holy Prophet (sa). The same understanding had been presented by the Promised Messiah (as) and his Khulafa.

Thus, obedience in what was ma‘ruf did not imply that some commands of a Prophet or Khalifa could be contrary to Islam; rather, their guidance was rooted in the Holy Quran and the practice of the Holy Prophet (sa).

The Holy Prophet (sa) had stated that whoever fulfilled the pledge would receive their reward from Allah. If a person committed one of the prohibited acts and was punished for it in this world, that punishment could serve as an expiation. If the wrongdoing remained concealed, the person’s matter rested with Allah, Who could punish or forgive according to His wisdom.

Huzoor (aa) said that the conditions prescribed by the Promised Messiah (as) reflected the same fundamental moral and spiritual requirements upon which the Holy Prophet (sa) had taken bai‘at. Members of the Jamaat must therefore make every possible effort to avoid any action that violated their pledge and could attract the displeasure of Allah.

Recognising Allah as the source of every blessing Huzoor (aa) cited a hadith narrated by Hazrat Zaid bin Khalid (ra) concerning an incident at Hudaibiyah. After rainfall during the night, the Holy Prophet (sa) led the morning prayer and asked his Companions whether they knew what their Lord had said.

The Holy Prophet (sa) explained that some of Allah’s servants had entered the morning as believers in Him, while others had rejected Him. Those who attributed the rain to the grace and mercy of Allah were believers in Him and rejected the supposed independent influence of the stars. Those who attributed it to a particular star had, in effect, believed in that star and rejected Allah.

Huzoor (aa) explained that this hadith illustrated how shirk could arise when a person regarded worldly causes

as independent of Allah. Material means could be used, but a believer must recognise that their effectiveness and every resulting blessing ultimately came from God. A person was not always aware of all their weaknesses and errors. Huzoor (aa) therefore urged the members of the Jamaat to engage frequently in istighfar and seek the protection and forgiveness of Allah.

Faith must be demonstrated through deeds Huzoor (aa) reminded the Jamaat that Allah had promised the Promised Messiah (as) victory. That victory would certainly come; however, anyone wishing to share in it had to purify themselves, proclaim the Unity of Allah and embody it through their conduct.

Referring to the guidance of Hazrat Musleh-e-Maud (ra), Huzoor (aa) explained that no one could expect preferential treatment from Allah merely because they called themselves an Ahmadi. Relationship, lineage or religious designation alone could not save anyone.

The son of Prophet Noah (as) was not saved despite being the son of a Prophet.

Likewise, the wife of Prophet Lot (as) was not protected by her relationship with him when she aligned herself with the disbelievers. A person therefore became worthy of being called an Ahmadi only through faith, obedience and righteous action.

Huzoor (aa) also referred to the advice of Hazrat Luqman to his son: that he must never associate partners with Allah, for shirk constituted a grave injustice. Allah continually bestowed favours and blessings upon human beings; to treat anyone else as equal to Him was therefore an immense act of ingratitude.

Obvious and hidden forms of shirk Huzoor (aa) explained that freedom from shirk did not consist merely of reciting La ilaha illAllah while remaining neglectful of its demands. Believers had to protect themselves from obvious, hidden, subtle and even subconscious forms of shirk.

He lamented that some Muslims professed the Unity of Allah but nevertheless bowed or prostrated at shrines and believed that the occupants of graves could independently fulfil their needs. Some clerics described the miracles of saints in a manner that elevated them beyond their true station.

The Promised Messiah (as) had been commissioned in this age to wage a spiritual Jihad against every form of shirk and establish a Community dedicated to the worship of the One God. Although Ahmadis did not engage in overt idol worship, Huzoor (aa) cautioned that they must still examine themselves for hidden forms of shirk. Excessive reliance upon one’s wealth, intelligence, influence, employment, relationships or worldly resources could weaken one’s dependence upon Allah.

Only by cleansing themselves of such hidden tendencies could Ahmadis fulfil the right of their bai‘at and become true helpers in the mission of the Promised Messiah (as).

Truthfulness in a world sustained by falsehood

Huzoor (aa) then addressed the requirement to abstain from disorder, lying and falsehood.

He referred to an incident from the life of the Promised Messiah (as) involving legal proceedings connected with postal regulations. Although people commonly believed that they could not protect themselves in court without resorting to falsehood, the Promised Messiah (as) spoke truthfully. He acknowledged what had occurred but made clear that he had neither intended to harm the postal service nor knowingly violated the law. Allah the Almighty protected his honour and he was acquitted.

Huzoor (aa) contrasted this example with the condition of the contemporary world, where individuals and institutions frequently regarded lying as essential to success. Falsehood could be found in international affairs, national politics, social relations and legal disputes. Lawyers and litigants sometimes participated in fabricated cases and misleading statements.

As a result, trust had deteriorated to such an extent that when someone spoke the truth, others still assumed that some element of deception must be hidden within their words.

Members of the Jamaat were required to stand apart from this culture and establish the highest standards of honesty. Reliance upon falsehood revealed a failure to trust Allah, whereas a believer had confidence that truthfulness would ultimately attract His help and protection.

Praise of Allah and Durood Sharif Continuing his guidance on spiritual reform, Huzoor (aa) cited the saying of the Holy Prophet (sa) concerning two phrases that were light upon the tongue, heavy in the divine balance and beloved to Allah.

He drew attention to the importance of glorifying and praising Allah and urged

the members of the Jamaat to make His remembrance an enduring part of their lives.

Huzoor (aa) also instructed Ahmadis to give particular attention to invoking Durood Sharif, salutations and blessings upon the Holy Prophet (sa). The increased remembrance of the Holy Prophet (sa) during the days of Jalsa should not end with the conclusion of the gathering; rather, it should become a permanent habit.

Referring to a hadith, Huzoor (aa) said that when a believer hears the muezzin calling the azan, they should repeat the words of the call and then invoke blessings upon the Holy Prophet (sa). Whoever sent blessings upon him once would receive mercy from Allah tenfold.

Believers should also pray that the Holy Prophet (sa) be granted the exalted station of wasilah in Paradise. The Holy Prophet (sa) had stated that whoever prayed for this would become deserving of his intercession.

Huzoor (aa) explained that by making Durood a regular part of their lives, Ahmadis would strengthen their relationship with the Holy Prophet (sa) and fulfil an important aspect of their pledge.

Taubah and istighfar Huzoor (aa) then emphasised the importance of taubah, repentance and istighfar, seeking the forgiveness and protection of Allah.

He referred to the saying of the Holy Prophet (sa) that whoever remained constant in seeking forgiveness would be granted a way out of every difficulty, relief from every hardship and provision from sources they could not have imagined.

When people requested prayers for relief from affliction, Huzoor (aa) said that he repeatedly advised them to recite istighfar. The Promised Messiah (as) had also prescribed istighfar to those burdened by debt and to those praying for children.

Huzoor (aa) explained that istighfar did not merely mean asking for past sins to be forgiven. It also involved seeking Allah’s protection from the harmful consequences of previous sins and praying for the strength to remain safe from sin in the future. A person should pray not only for themselves but also for the spiritual protection of their progeny.

However, simply repeating the words of istighfar without reflection was insufficient.

It had to arise sincerely from the heart and be accompanied by a genuine determination to reform. Allah accepted the repentance of a person until the final stage of life approached, but no one knew when death would come. Repentance and reformation could therefore not be postponed.

Promised Messiah (as), Huzoor (aa) explained that a person should not remain satisfied with the outward movements of prayer. Some people completed the formal prayer hurriedly, as though discharging an unwanted burden and then made lengthy supplications afterwards. The formal salat itself, however, was the highest form of prayer and had to be filled with heartfelt supplication.

Prayer should become a source of delight – more desirable to a believer than the finest food or drink. It was a right owed to Allah and had to be offered beautifully, attentively and with its proper etiquette.

When a believer did justice to prayer, Allah beautified their entire life.

Establishing salat and Tahajjud

Compassion, forgiveness and unity

Huzoor (aa) said that genuine attention towards tahajjud could develop only when a person first became regular and conscientious in observing the five daily prayers.

He cited the saying of the Holy Prophet (sa) that abandoning prayer stood between a person and disbelief and shirk.

A person who called themselves a Muslim but habitually neglected prayer placed themselves dangerously close to spiritual ruin.

Having pledged to struggle against shirk, members of the Jamaat had to safeguard their prayers. Huzoor (aa) instructed men to establish congregational prayer in mosques and prayer centres so that the houses of Allah remained populated.

Parents were also responsible for developing within their children a love and appreciation for prayer. Children should not merely be instructed to pray; they should be helped to understand why prayer was necessary and how it established a living connection with Allah.

Referring to the teachings of the

Turning to the rights of creation, Huzoor (aa) presented the teachings of the Promised Messiah (as) concerning kindness, compassion and mutual love.

A true Jamaat could not be composed of people who harmed one another, spoke ill of others, searched for their faults or treated the poor and weak with contempt. Gatherings of believers should instead strengthen unity and cultivate love, sympathy, mercy and mutual respect.

The Promised Messiah (as) had observed that quarrels and grudges sometimes arose over the smallest matters. Opponents then seized upon these weaknesses, exaggerated them and used them to turn others against the Jamaat. If Ahmadis removed their own internal weaknesses and raised their moral standards, opponents would be deprived of such opportunities.

Huzoor (aa) said that strengthening the Jamaat required its members to increase in mutual love and compassion, overlook the faults of others and avoid harbouring grudges.

A person could not be regarded as a true

AL HAKAM | Friday 31 july 2026 Muslim until they loved and sympathised with others as they did with themselves.

The Promised Messiah (as) had advised his followers to purify their hearts, show compassion to all humanity and wish no evil even for those who opposed them.

Instead of seeking revenge, believers should forgive. By showing mercy to those on earth, they became recipients of mercy from heaven.

The Promised Messiah’s (as) example of forgiveness Huzoor (aa) referred to the false allegation of attempted murder brought against the Promised Messiah (as) in connection with Dr Henry Martyn Clark.

When the allegation was proved false, the court permitted the Promised Messiah (as) to pursue legal action against those responsible. Despite having opportunities to seek retribution, he declined to do so and demonstrated forgiveness and compassion towards his opponents.

Huzoor (aa) said that anyone who wished to establish peace in the world had to develop the same spirit of love, sympathy and forbearance. Ahmadis were required to live harmoniously not only among themselves but also with all humanity.

Moral reformation and the struggle against the Dajjal In his concluding remarks, Huzoor (aa) explained that if members of the Jamaat fulfilled the conditions of bai‘at and brought about righteous changes within themselves, they would transform not only their own lives but also the wider society.

Through their conduct, they would spread the true message of Islam. NonAhmadis, non-Muslims and atheists would be compelled to recognise that Ahmadis sought both to establish the Unity of Allah and to uphold the highest moral values, thereby preventing humanity from falling into the depths of immorality and helping turn the world into an abode of peace.

In contrast, the forces of the Antichrist, or Dajjal, were striving to efface the name of Allah from the earth and spread disorder in every direction. In such circumstances, the Jamaat bore an immense responsibility to fulfil its pledge, resist these forces through faith, prayer and righteous conduct and pray that Allah caused their schemes to fail.

Huzoor (aa) prayed that Allah the Almighty enabled all Ahmadis to do justice to their bai‘at. He urged everyone to pray for the peace and security of Ahmadis throughout the world and for the peace and security of all Muslims.

He further prayed that every Ahmadi might be enabled to establish the Unity of Allah and play a prominent role in spreading peace and security throughout the world.

Huzoor (aa) then called upon everyone to join him in silent prayer.

Following the prayer, Huzoor (aa) announced that the attendance at Jalsa Salana UK 2026 had reached over 51,000.

In addition, over 16,000 people had participated virtually from 117 Jamaat centres in 62 countries.

Everyone subsequently listened to poems recited by various groups. Huzoor (aa) then took his leave, bringing Jalsa Salana UK 2026 to a close.

How to benefit from Jalsa Salana: Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V delivers Friday sermon from Hadeeqat-ulMahdi Hadeeqat-ul-Mahdi, Alton, UK, 24 July 2026: Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih V (aa), delivered his Friday sermon from Hadeeqat-ul-Mahdi, Alton, the venue of Jalsa Salana United Kingdom 2026.

Huzoor (aa) began by noting the official start of the Jalsa Salana, with guests attending from all around the country and the world. These, he said, are the guests of the Promised Messiah (as) and they must be treated with great respect.

Rights of guests in Islam Huzoor (aa) then directed his address towards both the Jalsa duty workers and the guests in attendance. Huzoor (aa) said that our volunteers know that guests must be treated with respect according to the teachings of Islam, which command giving the traveller his due right. (Surah an-Nisa, Ch.4:V.37) Presenting the example of Hazrat Abraham (as), Huzoor (aa) noted how he didn’t ask his guests if they wanted food; instead, he made immediate arrangements to present them with food. (Surah Hud, Ch.11:V.70) In a hadith, the Holy Prophet (sa) also said that believers must fulfil the due rights of guests, which means to be hospitable to them during their stay. Since many guests are coming from around the world, even if they stay for three to four weeks, the Jamaat makes arrangements for their stay.

No duty worker who helps host the guests is paid. Everyone works as a volunteer.

Every volunteer must keep in mind that since they have presented themselves to serve the guests of the Promised Messiah (as), they should seek help from Allah and strive to fulfil their responsibilities in the best manner, as their goal is to attain the pleasure of Allah the Almighty.

The UK Jamaat’s hospitality runs throughout the year. This is also because Khilafat is stationed in this country. All the volunteers who set aside time to serve guests do so. Non-Muslim guests are always amazed at how all the volunteers are working seamlessly to serve food, manage parking, security, etc.

The example of the Promised Messiah (as) In one narration, the Promised Messiah (as) reminded Hafiz Hamid Ali (ra) Sahib, who was put in charge of the Langar Khana (communal kitchen), to always serve his guests in an excellent manner. A Companion narrates that around 1902, he travelled to Qadian with a friend. Per the instruction of the Promised Messiah (as), they were given a scrumptious meal. Throughout

their stay, the Promised Messiah (as) would often enquire if everything was to their satisfaction.

A Companion narrates that he was to go to an ijlas at Masjid Mubarak after the Maghrib and Isha prayers. Since time was short, he decided to skip supper to attend the meeting, even though he hadn’t eaten since morning. The meeting ended late, and he went to the Langar Khana to see if he could get something to eat. Although there was nothing to eat, some leftover bread was available, which he had barely begun eating when someone called out and said that if anyone had not eaten, he should come and eat at the Langar.

The next morning, the Promised Messiah (as) stated that he had received an Arabic revelation that Allah the Almighty said: “O Prophet, feed the hungry and the distressed.” (Tadhkirah [English], p. 1018) The Companion understood that Allah had informed the Promised Messiah (as) of his condition.

Guidance to volunteers and guests Bringing the subject back to Jalsa Salana UK, Huzoor (aa) stated that since some Jalsa guests come late in the night, arrangements should be made for their food no matter how late it is. Care should also be taken to serve fresh food. Huzoor (aa) also highlighted the Promised Messiah’s (as) instruction that all Ahmadis, no matter rich or poor, are the same to him, so the same kind of food should be prepared for everyone.

Advising the guests of Jalsa, Huzoor (aa) directed that they should also eat whatever is served in the Langar Khana without objections. More attention should be given towards the spiritual objectives of Jalsa Salana rather than the food.

Some people opt to go to the bazaar if they dislike the food at the Langar and this can pose problems for the management. In turn, a lack of appropriate care at the bazaar is highly risky since the weather is dry and cooking outdoors can be a hazard. Thus, guests should strive to happily eat whatever is served.

Huzoor (aa) also cautioned guests against wasting food and emphasised that since our reason for attending Jalsa is to rejuvenate our spiritual conditions, we must not pay much attention to the food.

Presenting another example of the Promised Messiah (as), Huzoor (aa) narrated that he once decided to inspect the food being prepared for his guests. Upon inspection, he expressed a dislike for the odour coming from the sweet rice and said, “If I do not like the odour of the food, how can I allow this to be served to the guests?”

Thus, every department must ensure that guests are adequately taken care of.

Even a person on security should not appear harsh to the guests, but instead must remain gentle.

Huzoor (aa) addressed the guests and said that since we have had to bear hardships on the journey here, we must remember to respect the wishes of the Promised Messiah (as) and fulfil the lofty spiritual objectives of Jalsa Salana. We must therefore refrain from conversing aimlessly and be present in the jalsa gah during the sessions.

Women should also ensure that they do not speak amongst themselves. Addressing the mothers, Huzoor (aa) stated that sitting in the children’s area is not an automatic permission to converse freely. Instead, they should only speak if necessary to quieten their children and they should try to speak as little as possible.

Although the bazaar is closed during the sessions, discipline should be maintained in the bazaar at all times. There can be delays if there is a rush at a stall, but patience must be exercised.

Huzoor (aa) advised that we must be among those who adopt taqwa and goodness, because Allah the Almighty is pleased only with the righteous ones. Greet each other with love, and if there are old grudges, exercise taqwa and increase your forbearance. Do not let grudges be catalysts for an unpleasant atmosphere.

Huzoor (aa) also entreated all the guests to be present for all the five daily prayers.

Those sleeping in tents or accommodation areas should also ensure that they wake up for tahajjud, as this is essential to nurture faith.

Huzoor (aa) also directed guests arriving with cars to cooperate with those on duty in parking and be patient if there is traffic.

Both the guests and duty workers should also be cautious, and if they see something odd or suspicious, they must report it to the authorities.

Cleanliness must be ensured, Huzoor (aa) instructed. Although duty-workers are appointed to clean up after the guests, guests must also take care to clean up after themselves. We have come here to strengthen our faith; thus, pay attention to cleanliness, as it is part of faith. Every attendee should consider themselves a worker during these days.

At the end, Huzoor (aa) prayed that Allah the Almighty should enable everyone to benefit from the Jalsa and its blessings.

Walking upon the path of taqwa: Huzoor delivers the inaugural address at Jalsa Salana UK 2026 Hadeeqatul Mahdi, Alton, 24 July 2026: Shortly after 4:30 pm, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih V, may Allah be his Helper, hoisted the Liwa-e-Ahmadiyyat, encircled by the national flags of countries represented by participants attending Jalsa Salana in person and those joining through MTA International. Hazrat Amirul Momineen (aa) then led everyone in silent prayer before proceeding to the main Jalsa Gah to deliver the inaugural address.

Huzoor-e-Anwar (aa) arrived on the stage and commenced the inaugural session by inviting Ehsan Ahmad Sahib for the recitation of the Holy Quran (Surah alBaqarah, Ch.2: V.1-8). He then presented the Urdu translation. After this, Huzoor (aa) invited Abdul Haye Sarmad Sahib to present an Urdu poem of the Promised Messiah (as) on the subjects of humility, righteousness and complete devotion to God. Then, Faris Naseem Sahib presented a Persian poem written by the Promised Messiah (as) in praise of the Holy Prophet (sa), the translation of which was presented

by Kashif Ali Sahib.

Following this, Hazrat Amirul Momineen (aa) came to the podium and conveyed his salaam to everyone. After reciting tashahud, ta‘awuz and Surah alFatihah, Huzoor (aa) delivered his inaugural address, a brief summary of which is as follows:

The objectives of Jalsa Salana Explaining the objectives of Jalsa Salana, the Promised Messiah (as) said that we hold this gathering so that the fear of Allah may be instilled within us and so that we may become examples for one another in righteousness, piety, tenderness of heart, mutual love and brotherhood.

It is for this very purpose that these gatherings are held and it is for this purpose that people assemble here. We must always remember that unless we strive with our utmost effort to attain this objective, our acceptance of the Promised Messiah’s (as) bai‘at is devoid of purpose.

Taqwa: The foundation of Islam It should always be remembered that the foundation of Islamic teaching is taqwa (righteousness). Regarding taqwa, which is the fundamental objective, the Promised Messiah (as) expressed in one of his couplets:

�� ‫اقّتےہ‬ ‫رہِاِکیکینیکڑجہیِا ِ � ا‬

‫ارگہیڑجریہبسھچکراہےہ‬ “The root of every good is righteousness.

If this root is preserved, everything will survive.”

The second line of this couplet was revealed to the Promised Messiah (as) by Allah the Almighty as a divine revelation.

Allah the Almighty has, in various ways and through different means, repeatedly directed our attention towards taqwa.

Taqwa is essential for complete adherence to the Shariah and to the Holy Quran. It is essential for the proper

observance of worship. It is essential for treating one’s wife with kindness in domestic life. Indeed, it is the fundamental prerequisite.

The honour and blessings of the righteous Allah the Almighty further states that the most honourable person in Islam is the one who possesses taqwa. Allah the Almighty is the Friend and Helper of the righteous; indeed, He loves those who are righteous.

Allah the Almighty has declared that the best outcome belongs to the righteous. He has also made taqwa a necessary condition for perfect obedience to the Holy Prophet (sa) and it is taqwa that completes such perfect obedience.

No matter how many slogans we raise or how often we proclaim that we belong to the Jamaat, have taken the bai‘at of the Promised Messiah (as), have perfect faith in the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa) and possess complete faith and certainty in Allah, if taqwa is absent within us, then these slogans remain nothing more than slogans.

Taqwa is the key to success Allah the Almighty has also declared taqwa to be essential for prosperity and success.

He has promised those believers who adopt taqwa that He will open for them the doors of progress, deliver them from hardships, provide them with sustenance and bring ease into their affairs.

Allah the Almighty has repeatedly advised that if you have believed, then become perfect in taqwa. If you become righteous, you will also succeed in attaining nearness to Allah the Almighty.

If we wish to reform ourselves, if we wish to attain the nearness of Allah the Almighty and if we wish to become true Ahmadi Muslims in the real sense, then it is of utmost importance that we strive with all our strength to walk upon the paths of taqwa. Without taqwa, a person’s claim to faith is entirely hollow.

The Holy Quran and taqwa Allah the Almighty states regarding the Holy Quran that this is a Book concerning which there is no doubt, a guidance for the righteous. Here Allah the Almighty clearly explains that one can benefit from His Book and His Shariah and derive true guidance from them, only when one possesses taqwa.

Therefore, we should always keep before us the fact that without taqwa, a person has no standing in Islam.

The Promised Messiah (as) once stated that the Holy Quran itself has declared the ultimate purpose of its revelation to be the teaching of the paths of taqwa. The Holy Quran was revealed so that those who refrain from sin may be informed even of the subtlest forms of sin, enabling them to avoid evil deeds that are not apparent to every eye, but which can only be perceived through the microscope of spiritual insight.

Taqwa protects from even the subtlest sins The reality is that when taqwa is present, we are able to avoid even the slightest sins.

The fear of Allah is established in our hearts and we become those who truly attain the station and objective of walking in the ways prescribed by Allah the Almighty. Our attention is drawn towards those matters that Allah has forbidden, and likewise towards those matters that He has commanded us to fulfil. A person may claim as much as they wish that they are a Muslim and a believer, but if taqwa is absent, then such claims to Islam and faith are entirely hollow.

Allah the Almighty mentions in the Holy Quran that He has placed healing and mercy in the Quran for the believers, whereas for the wrongdoers it increases nothing but loss. Those who do not possess taqwa cannot receive guidance from the Holy Quran.

Guarding one’s gaze Regarding the subtle paths of taqwa, the Promised Messiah (as) states that our Shariah and the Holy Quran command us to lower our gaze. If people were to act upon this command and develop such a state of taqwa, they would be protected from many major sins.

These are precisely the kinds of sins that, in today’s society, are leading people towards destruction and even some who profess faith become entangled in them. Modern media frequently presents programmes and films that inflame human passions and give rise to impure thoughts. For this reason, the Promised Messiah (as) advised that one should neither listen to the seductive talk of women nor expose oneself to circumstances that may become a cause of stumbling.

The Holy Quran: A complete guide for humanity Allah the Almighty revealed the Holy Quran so that every individual may act upon it according to their capacity. By doing so, a person continues to advance along the paths of taqwa.

Some people ask why followers of other religions also claim that their faith is true. The reality, however, is that apart from Islam and the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa), no other religion claims to have been sent for the whole of mankind. This claim belongs exclusively to the Holy Quran and Islam. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa) is the final law-bearing prophet, sent for all humanity. His Shariah is perfect, complete and full of guidance.

Those who adopt taqwa will find that this Shariah leads them upon paths through which both their worldly life and their Hereafter are reformed. No other religion makes such a claim.

Faith in the unseen and divine guidance When a person acquires faith in the unseen, acts upon the teachings of Allah the

Almighty, adopts taqwa and follows its finer paths, then Allah the Almighty Himself guides that person and grants them spiritual insight and true understanding (irfan).

Allah then bestows such blessings upon them that it becomes evident they have acted upon His commandments. He grants them abundantly and illuminates them with His light. Such spirituality is not found in other religions; their spirituality has come to an end.

Salat and the grace of Allah The Promised Messiah (as) states that the utmost a person can achieve through personal effort is to purify themselves, perform prayer in a state of cleanliness and strive to ensure that their prayer does not remain lifeless.

One should praise and glorify Allah to the best of one’s ability and fulfil all the outward requirements of prayer. However, it is not within human power to produce extraordinary love for Allah, profound humility, deep yearning, or a heart completely free from worldly impurities during prayer. A person can perform the outward actions of prayer, but exceptional love, humility, submission and the experience of beholding Allah cannot be created by human effort alone.

For this, it is essential to seek the grace of Allah and to ask for His help. Until this inner state is granted, a person cannot attain the spiritual condition that represents the highest state of a true believer.

Establishing prayer through taqwa For this reason, Allah the Almighty states that the righteous are those who establish prayer. Something is established only when there exists the possibility of it falling. Yet human efforts alone are futile without the grace of Allah.

Allah the Almighty declares that the Holy Quran is a guidance for the righteous.

As far as possible, one must strive, through taqwa, to establish prayer. If they believe in His Word, Allah does not leave them to rely solely upon their own efforts. Rather, He Himself supports them and a new spiritual state develops within their prayers – one that they could never have imagined.

This divine favour is granted because they believed in the Word of Allah and remained occupied, to the best of their ability, in fulfilling His commandments.

Reflecting upon the Holy Quran Allah the Almighty further commands that we should strive to act upon the teachings of the Holy Quran. A temporary prayer, a brief moment of weeping, or offering one or two prostrations with humility is not sufficient.

To receive the guidance of the Holy Quran, it is necessary to recite it, understand it and reflect upon it. Only then will taqwa develop within a person. When taqwa develops, one attains the nearness of Allah.

Through that nearness, good deeds erase one’s faults, a person undergoes a complete transformation and becomes one who is

Financial sacrifice as worship The Promised Messiah (as) further states that financial sacrifice is also an act of worship. A person should spend, according to their capacity, from the wealth they love in the way of Allah in order to attain His nearness and seek His grace. This is why Allah the Almighty says that these are the people who spend out of what God has provided them. Merely giving some of one’s beloved wealth in the way of Allah is not the true excellence.

True excellence is to detach oneself from everything besides Allah, to the extent that one is prepared even to sacrifice one’s life in His cause. The provision that Allah has granted does not refer only to wealth.

Rather, it includes every ability, talent and capacity that a person possesses. All of these should be devoted to His cause.

When a person gives sincerely in the way of Allah, without any desire for display or recognition, Allah promises to bring such worship to perfection. That individual begins to experience a special delight in making sacrifices.

Spending wealth and offering other sacrifices are themselves acts of worship; worship is not confined to prayer alone.

The qualities of the righteous The Promised Messiah (as) explains that the first quality mentioned regarding the righteous is that they believe in the unseen.

This is the initial stage of faith: believing in realities that have not yet been witnessed.

Included within the unseen are Paradise, Hell, the Day of Resurrection, Judgement Day and all matters that remain concealed.

At the beginning, the believer accepts these realities through faith. The promised guidance, however, is that this state is eventually rewarded. A person progresses from knowledge based on the unseen to direct spiritual witnessing. A time comes when those realities that were once accepted through faith become matters of personal spiritual experience. Hidden truths are unveiled before them, the manifestation of Allah appears before them, and the realities of the Hereafter become evident.

The second quality is that the righteous establish prayer. At times, their prayer may falter, but they continually restore it. A righteous person fears Allah and remains steadfast in prayer. Various distractions and anxieties cause prayer to weaken and Satan continually seeks to interfere. Nevertheless, the believer persists, repeatedly striving to re-establish prayer. This continual effort characterises the righteous.

Thereafter, Allah the Almighty grants them guidance and delivers them from a life of inner conflict and satanic whisperings.

Through this Book – the Holy Quran – He raises them to such a spiritual station that prayer becomes for them like nourishment.

The spiritual delight of prayer A believer should therefore offer prayer in the manner described above, until they begin to experience within it the same delight and joy that people ordinarily find in worldly pleasures. If we truly wish to attain taqwa, then this is the condition of prayer that we must strive to develop within ourselves.

The acceptance of prayer If we wish to attain the standard of taqwa, draw near to Allah and witness the acceptance of our prayers, then we must understand an important reality.

Many people ask why their prayers are not accepted. The answer is this: can we expect to attain the nearness of Allah merely by seeking worldly objectives, fulfilling worldly desires and offering only a few prostrations?

This can never be sufficient. Rather, we must develop within ourselves the intense longing for the worship of Allah that characterises a truly righteous person.

When this longing is created, it becomes the means of receiving divine guidance and attaining the nearness of Allah. Only then will we begin to witness the signs of the acceptance of our prayers.

The true state of faith Only when this condition is developed within us can we truly say that we are among those who have genuine faith. The Promised Messiah (as) states that when such a condition is attained, it is no longer the case that a person has to establish the prayer; rather, the prayer itself becomes established for them.

At that stage, everything they do is solely for the pleasure of Allah, free from all affectation and artificiality that had previously accompanied their efforts. The Promised Messiah (as) therefore advises that prayer should be offered with the utmost care and excellence, for prayer is the root and the ladder of all spiritual progress.

It is for this reason that it has been said that prayer is the mi‘raj (spiritual ascension) of the believer. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa) said, “The delight of my eyes lies in prayer.”

Purity and understanding the Holy Quran The Promised Messiah (as) states that taqwa is essential for understanding the Holy Quran and receiving guidance from it. This is the fundamental principle and its very foundation. Allah the Almighty has stated regarding the Quran that none but the purified shall touch it. Such a condition is not attached to worldly branches of knowledge, for even a wicked and sinful person may acquire them.

The Promised Messiah (as) further states that until a person abandons their blameworthy moral qualities, they cannot attain high moral standards, for two opposites cannot coexist within the same heart.

The Holy Quran is guidance for those who possess taqwa, who are free from arrogance and who reflect upon the Word of Allah with humility and submission.

Purifying the heart and character Advising his Jamaat, the Promised Messiah (as) said that Allah the Almighty loves the righteous.

Therefore, always yearn for the love of Allah and remember that all people are the servants of Allah. Do not oppress anyone, nor look down upon anyone with contempt.

If even one person within the Community is morally corrupt, it affects the whole Community. Whenever the heart inclines towards anger, a person should examine

themselves and ask from what source that anger has arisen and where feelings of resentment and hatred have come from.

Every individual should consider the extent to which their words and actions correspond. If they find that the two are not in harmony, they should realise that they are exposing themselves to the displeasure of Allah. If the heart is not pure, then no matter how much a person verbally justifies his actions, those words have no value in the sight of Allah. The real matter is the heart; the heart must be pure, not merely one’s verbal claims.

Some people outwardly appear very righteous and deliver excellent speeches, yet within their homes they do not treat their wives and children well and their wives are distressed because of them. Likewise, some women or men conduct themselves in ways that are contrary to Islamic teachings. Such people are not regarded as true believers in the sight of Allah. If they are not true believers, then taqwa cannot develop within them. Only when taqwa is established does the state of faith continue to grow.

Sincerity within the Jamaat The Promised Messiah (as) states that members of the Jamaat should understand that they have come to him so that the seed may be sown from which they become fruitful trees. Every individual should examine their inner self and reflect upon their spiritual condition. If our Jamaat is one whose tongues speak one thing while their hearts conceal another, then its end will not be good.

When Allah the Almighty sees a community that is empty of sincerity and merely makes verbal claims, He is Independent and has no need of such people.

Although victory at the Battle of Badr had already been foretold, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa) continued to supplicate with great fervour and wept before Allah. Hazrat Abu Bakr (ra) asked why he continued to pray with such intensity when victory had already been promised.

The Holy Prophet (sa) replied that Allah is Self-Sufficient and it is possible that divine promises may contain hidden conditions.

The blessings of taqwa Allah the Almighty provides for the righteous in ways beyond their knowledge or imagination. He does not leave a righteous person dependent upon unlawful means to fulfil their needs. Some traders resort to falsehood in order to sell their goods, but Allah the Almighty declares that the righteous do not behave in this manner.

Whoever places their trust in Allah, He becomes sufficient for them.

Among the blessings of taqwa is that the righteous are delivered from hardships and afflictions.

Listening with attention The Promised Messiah (as) states that everyone should listen with full attention and deep reflection, because this is a matter of faith. Carelessness, negligence and lack of attention in matters of faith lead to very harmful consequences. Those who are negligent regarding their faith and do not listen attentively when they are addressed derive no benefit from the speaker’s words,

no matter how beneficial those words may be.

Such people are those regarding whom it is said that they have ears but do not hear and they have hearts but do not understand.

The true purpose of attending Jalsa Attending Jalsa can benefit us only if we gather here to seek the pleasure of Allah and to renew the pledge of bai‘at. We must resolve that we will leave this gathering determined to practise righteousness. The Promised Messiah (as) stated that his Jamaat has a particular need for taqwa, especially because they belong to and have entered into the bai‘at of one who claims to have been appointed by Allah.

Whatever forms of hatred, malice, shirk or excessive attachment to the world they may have possessed, they should free themselves from all such spiritual ailments.

The Promised Messiah (as) further stated that if you have entered into bai‘at with him, then you must strive to fulfil its true purpose. Only after attaining this objective can you become a truly beneficial person – not only for yourself, but also for your children, your future generations and your wider society.

Only then can you fulfil the very purpose for which Jalsa has been established.

Walk upon the path of taqwa We must resolve that, insha-Allah, we shall strive with all our strength to reform our lives by advancing upon the path of righteousness. When this happens, then, insha-Allah, we shall attain the objective for which we became members of the Jamaat.

Otherwise, there is no benefit in merely spending three days here, meeting friends, and returning home.

Certainly, one purpose of Jalsa is to meet one another and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and friendship. However, the principal objective is that we become people who walk upon the path of taqwa, remain steadfast upon it and seek the pleasure of Allah.

Our prayers should also become a means of attaining the pleasure of Allah, and we should reach that spiritual station which Allah the Almighty grants to those who adopt taqwa.

Every action and every deed of ours should become a means of attaining the nearness of Allah and walking upon true taqwa. May Allah grant us the ability to do so.

Remembering Allah and praying for the world During these days of Jalsa, we should greatly increase our remembrance of Allah.

We should pray abundantly for ourselves, for the Jamaat, for the Muslim world and indeed for the whole world.

May Allah the Almighty enable mankind to recognise Him. May He also enable us to fulfil the objective of tabligh, to convey His message while walking upon the path of taqwa and may He provide every means of ease and relief for us as well as for the world, so that humanity may be protected from afflictions.

Strengthening faith in the modern age: Huzoor addresses Lajna at Jalsa Salana UK 2026 Hadeeqatul Mahdi, Alton, UK, 25 July 2026: Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih V, may Allah be his Helper, arrived at the Lajna marquee for his address shortly after noon.

Commencing the formal session, Hazrat Amirul Momineen (aa) invited Noor Odeh Sahiba to recite a portion of the Holy Quran: Surah al-Ahzab, Ch.33: V.36-37, followed by its Urdu translation by Quratul-Ain Virk Sahib. Ramsha Hassan Sahiba then presented an Urdu poem written by Hazrat Musleh-e-Maud (ra).

Huzoor (aa) then invited Secretary Umur-e-Talibaat to announce the names of the Lajna students who achieved academic excellence over the year.

Huzoor-e-Anwar (aa) then came to the podium and conveyed his salaam to all. After reciting tashahhud, ta‘awwuz and Surah al-Fatihah, Huzoor (aa) delivered his address, a brief summary of which is as follows: By the grace of Allah, a large number of women are attending the Jalsa and this is evidence that Ahmadi women have a sincere inclination towards their faith. They desire to increase their religious knowledge, strive to attain the nearness of Allah, become those who seek His pleasure and fulfil their pledge of giving precedence to faith over worldly matters.

The Promised Messiah (as) established the Jalsa with the purpose of fostering zuhd and taqwa (righteousness) and of raising moral standards to the highest level.

We should fulfil our pledge of allegiance (bai‘at) by seeking the nearness of Allah the Almighty. These objectives are not to be pursued only during these few days; rather, they require continuous and lifelong effort.

The importance of listening attentively The Promised Messiah (as) said that we should listen carefully to his words and that the words of those appointed by Allah should be listened to attentively. Only by listening carefully to his words can the true purpose of bai‘at be attained. Failing to pay attention leads to very harmful consequences.

Sometimes people are misled by others, begin raising objections against the Jamaat and eventually start objecting to the Promised Messiah (as) himself. Therefore, you should increase your knowledge, listen attentively to the words of the Promised Messiah (as), carefully read and reflect upon his guidance and teachings and continue to increase your religious knowledge.

Only when both men and women increase their understanding of the faith can they reform their practical lives. If we merely take bai‘at and make no effort to increase our religious knowledge, we cannot achieve success and will gradually fall behind.

Increasing religious knowledge At times, women and children ask very simple questions. If one pays even a little attention to increasing one’s knowledge, the answers to many of these questions can easily be found in the literature of the Jamaat.

Those who raise objections against Islam present many arguments and women also encounter such questions. If the Holy Quran is studied carefully, the answers to all these questions can be found within it.

Today, detailed explanations are also available and by studying them, many difficulties can be resolved. The Promised Messiah (as) said that Allah the Almighty has bestowed upon the Holy Quran a unique intellectual character that is replete with every kind of proof. Allah the Almighty declares that the Quran is neither weak nor devoid of benefit. Its teachings are so comprehensive that no rival teaching can stand in comparison with them.

Studying the Holy Quran It is not sufficient merely to recite the Holy Quran; attention should also be given to studying its commentaries (tafsir). Today, audio recordings of the Holy Quran and its commentaries are also available. Those who are unable to read should listen to them.

Living in Western societies today, young girls often raise questions after hearing objections made against the Holy Quran.

Although answers to such objections are given from time to time, you yourselves should also make an effort to study the Holy Quran so that you are able to answer these objections independently. The Promised Messiah (as) repeatedly advised those who were connected with him that Allah had established this Jamaat to make divine truths manifest.

The Quran as the source of divine light Divine light will enter your practical lives only when you read the Holy Quran and act upon its teachings. Read the Holy Quran

with deep reflection. Do not read it merely as a collection of stories; rather, study it as a profound philosophy and as a complete system of guidance. Reflect deeply upon it and then you will see that you will be able to silence every opponent.

Women’s role in the service of faith In this age, women should strive in the field of preaching just as men should, for this is the jihad of our time. Nowhere has the Holy Quran, Allah the Almighty, the Holy Prophet (sa) or the Promised Messiah (as) stated that women should not participate in the work of preaching (tabligh).

Women do take part in this field and should continue to acquire knowledge.

The example of Hazrat Aishah (ra) is frequently cited. She explained and clarified the meanings of many Quranic verses and numerous ahadith. Many matters became clear to us through her explanations.

Women should advance so greatly in knowledge and spirituality that they surpass even men. When this standard is achieved, they will be able to provide the best possible moral and spiritual training for future generations.

Reflecting upon creed The Promised Messiah (as) said that La ilaha illAllah is such an exalted declaration that had the Jews and Christians been given and adhered to this very declaration, they would never have gone astray in matters of faith. If you wish to remain steadfast upon your religion, then reflect deeply upon it and strive to understand its true meaning.

AL HAKAM | Friday 31 july 2026 The Promised Messiah (as) said that your fundamental objective should be to establish the Unity of Allah (Tawhid). Develop the love of Allah within yourselves. Let it not remain a mere verbal claim; rather, remain constantly at the threshold of Allah and raise the standards of your worship. When you do so, love for Allah will naturally develop.

Raising the standard of worship What does it mean to raise the standard of worship and to love Allah?

It means that the love of Allah should become dearer to you than every worldly relationship. Love Allah more than even your parents. When you attain this state, Allah the Almighty will guide you, deliver you from trials, accept your prayers, resolve your domestic difficulties and remove the worries you have regarding the upbringing of your children, because even under ordinary circumstances you remain humble before Him out of love for Allah.

Demonstrating love for Allah through obedience To fulfil the practical requirements of loving Allah means to act upon His commandments. In the Holy Quran, Allah the Almighty has given countless commandments, including instructions for women, guidance regarding modesty, directions concerning dress, the importance of increasing religious knowledge and the upbringing of children. Only when a person becomes a practical embodiment of all these teachings can it truly be said that they love Allah.

Taqwa as the foundation of honour and family Life The Promised Messiah (as) said that it is essential for a person to become righteous (muttaqi), for only the righteous are honoured and esteemed in the sight of Allah the Almighty. This is an instruction that every member of the Jamaat – both men and women – should always remember.

In worldly society, marriages are often based upon beauty, family background, wealth or social status. These are usually the factors that are considered when arranging marriages. Many people ask what qualities should be sought in a marriage proposal.

The Holy Prophet (sa) and the Promised Messiah (as) have clearly explained this. If successful marriages are desired, then both men and women must raise their standards of taqwa. We must fulfil our pledge of giving precedence to faith over worldly matters; only then will marriages be truly successful.

The true meaning of bai‘at Everyone who has entered the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat must bring about a genuine transformation within themselves.

Otherwise, merely claiming to have accepted the Promised Messiah (as) is of no benefit.

If we fail to bring about spiritual, intellectual and moral reformation; if we do not treat others with kindness; if our morals are not such that people become distressed or fearful because of our behaviour, then such bai‘at serves no purpose.

Self-reflection and true reformation Each of us should examine ourselves and ask

whether our condition is such that, purely for the sake of Allah the Almighty, we strive to distance ourselves from every satanic whisper, every evil thought that displeases Allah and every action from which He has forbidden us. If this is not our condition, then true reformation cannot be achieved.

In that case, whether we belong to Ahmadiyyat or not becomes of no consequence. Nor should we complain that our prayers are not accepted or that we prayed for a particular purpose but our supplication was not answered. Allah indeed accepts prayers, but before that, He requires us to reform our own condition and fulfil the pledge of bai‘at that we have made. Our very being should become entirely transformed and we should no longer remain what we once were.

Seeking guidance from the Holy Quran Those who are born Ahmadis but may have gone astray should, once they come to their senses and begin to use the intellect that Allah the Almighty has granted them, seek guidance from the Holy Quran and strive to act upon its teachings.

Allah the Almighty has not prohibited the acquisition of knowledge. The list of Lajna members that was read out also reflected the worldly education they have attained. However, we should not pursue knowledge that distances us from Allah, nor should we follow it.

Likewise, we must not adopt practices that lead us away from Allah, nor should we associate with environments that distance us from Him. This should be our mindset.

You should never think that by avoiding excessive association with worldly people, you will be deprived of certain opportunities. If you hold firmly to Allah, you will never see dark days, you will never become dependent upon anyone and even if the entire world becomes your enemy, it shall not concern you.

Holding firmly to Allah The Promised Messiah (as) said that no one who holds firmly to Allah can ultimately suffer loss. Allah protects His true servants during times of hardship in such extraordinary ways that the world is left astonished. The example of Prophet Abraham (as) is that although his enemies cast him into the fire, Allah saved him.

Likewise, Prophet Noah (as) was saved from the flood.

These are not merely stories of the past.

Allah is Living today as well and, even today, He can manifest His signs of power. If today you establish a true relationship with Him and fulfil His rights, He will still show you manifestations of His power.

The importance of praying before times of difficulty Many people write to Huzoor (aa) saying that they have prayed repeatedly, yet their prayers are not accepted. Prayers offered during times of hardship are, to a certain extent, appropriate. The anguish they contain is valuable, but whether Allah chooses to accept them rests with His wisdom.

However, one should pray before difficulties arise and establish a true relationship with Allah beforehand. It

is then that Allah the Almighty accepts prayers. During times of hardship, it will be the prayers you offered in times of ease that will protect you. It should not be that you remember Allah only when you fall into difficulty.

Many of today’s questions are of this nature. Such people should examine themselves and ask whether, during times of comfort, they prayed with the same sincerity and anguish that they now display in hardship. If they did not, then they have failed to fulfil their duty. Do not merely remember to seek your rights from Allah; rather, fulfil His rights as well.

Rights and responsibilities Huzoor (aa) said that he had previously explained the rights of women, but women should also remember that they have many responsibilities to fulfil. Only when these responsibilities are discharged will their rights also be properly established.

Reforming moral conduct The Promised Messiah (as) said that you should reform your morals, control your tongue, treat everyone with gentleness and kindness and even respond with gentleness to those who speak harshly. Avoid quarrels and disputes and avoid arrogance. When you act in this manner, Allah the Almighty will reward you by granting you His nearness.

Today, even within some homes, disagreements often arise between daughters-in-law and mothers-in-law. A minor grievance can quickly lead to the harshest words being spoken or to attempts to cause one another distress and suffering.

If this is our condition, it is not the conduct of a true believer. Such behaviour neither leads to the nearness of Allah nor fulfils the pledge of bai‘at.

Becoming a true Ahmadi If one wishes to become a true Ahmadi and attain the nearness of Allah, then the standards of worship must be raised, moral conduct must be improved and practical conduct must be reformed. We should not become influenced merely because worldly people behave in a particular way. Rather, we are meant to reform them, guide them and bring them onto the right path. We are to help them attain the nearness of Allah and draw them towards faith.

Today, the world is increasingly distancing itself from religion, while atheism continues to spread. Through our actions, we must call the world towards Allah and make people realise that their survival lies in turning to Him. Otherwise, the world is moving towards immense destruction, although people fail to realise it. Gradually, it will either perish or face severe destruction beyond human imagination.

We have the responsibility of striving to save the world and we should make every possible effort to fulfil this duty.

Faith requires action The Promised Messiah (as) said that it is not enough to profess faith with the tongue while failing to act upon it. The Jamaat that Allah wishes to establish cannot remain alive without righteous deeds. This is a magnificent Jamaat whose preparation began from the time of Prophet Adam (as).

There has been no prophet who did not

foretell the coming of this Jamaat. Therefore, value it and its true value lies in proving through your actions that you are the people of truth, whether you are a man or a woman, a child, a young person, or an elder.

Nurturing future generations You are the ones who must nurture the coming generations, keep them attached to the Jamaat and make them aware of the importance of fulfilling the pledge of bai‘at to the Promised Messiah (as). They must understand what it means to give precedence to faith over worldly matters.

Therefore, do not become absorbed in worldly splendour and luxury. Instead, turn to Allah more than ever before. As we move further away from the time when the Promised Messiah (as) was alive, our weaknesses continue to increase.

Today, the only way to remain close to Allah is to raise the standards of our worship and increase our religious knowledge, so that we are able to answer the questions of our children and future generations and also fulfil our responsibilities in the field of preaching.

Many children ask questions and parents should be able to answer them. This will only be possible when they increase their religious knowledge and act upon the commandments of Allah.

Safeguarding Islamic teachings Do not become trapped in the deceptive schemes of the dajjal that seek to raise doubts about the rights of women in Islam.

The rights that Islam has granted women have been given by no other religion and by no government. In this age, the True Servant of the Holy Prophet (sa), i.e., the Promised Messiah (as), has explained with complete clarity the rights of women, the status that Islam has granted them and the honourable position they occupy.

An Ahmadi Muslim woman should always remember that she is a follower of Islam, one who seeks a living relationship with Allah and a true servant of Islam.

Therefore, she should strive earnestly to strengthen her relationship with Allah, increase her knowledge and reasoning so that she can silence the objections of critics, advance in the field of preaching and not only continue her own progress but also help future generations to advance.

Only then will we be able to play our proper role in spreading the teachings of Islam to every corner of the world.

Acting upon the advice of the Promised Messiah (as) If you remain faithful to your pledge of bai‘at and act upon the advice of the Promised Messiah (as), you will secure your own future and also safeguard the religious and worldly well-being of your future generations. May Allah grant all of you the ability to do so.

Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V (aa) then led everyone in silent prayer, after which some choral poems were presented. Thereafter, Huzoor (aa) announced that the attendance of Lajna was 19,695 and took leave, bringing the session to a close.

Allah is with Ahmadiyyat: Huzoor delivers second-day address at Jalsa Salana UK 2026 Hadeeqatul Mahdi, 25 July 2026: Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih V (aa), arrived at the jalsa gah at approximately 15:10 GMT for the afternoon session on the second day of Jalsa Salana UK 2026.

The session started with the recitation of a portion of the Holy Quran (Surah as-Saff, Ch.61:V.8-12), followed by the presentation of its Urdu translation from Tafsir-e-Saghir.

Some couplets from an Urdu poem of the Promised Messiah (as) were then presented.

155) Afterwards, Huzoor-e-Anwar (aa) took to the podium to deliver a faith-inspiring address on Allah’s grace on the Worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat during the past year. A summary is presented below:

Establishment of new chapters (jamaats) This year, throughout the world, excluding Pakistan, the number of new chapters established is 398. In addition to these new chapters, the seed of Ahmadiyyat was planted for the first time in 811 new locations. This year, 86 new chapters were established in Benin; Congo-Brazzaville is in second place and Liberia is in third place.

During the year, 133 mosques were constructed and 39 already-built mosques were acquired by the Jamaat, bringing the total number of new mosques to 172.

Additionally, 127 mission houses have also been established in 41 countries during the year.

Waqar-e-Amal According to reports received from 135 countries, a total of 64,644 Waqar-e-Amal activities were carried out during the year, contributing 274,873 volunteer hours and resulting in significant financial savings for the Jamaat amounting to $3 million.

Wakalat-e-Ishaat According to reports received from 113 countries, a total of 353 different books, pamphlets, folders and similar publications were published this year in 37 languages with a combined print run of 1,679,600 copies. The complete Arabic translation of the tafsir of the Promised Messiah (as), which had previously been published in eight volumes in Urdu, has been published for the first time.

New translations A total of 45 books of the Promised Messiah (as) were translated into 18 languages. In addition, 11 books by Hazrat

Musleh-e-Maud (ra) were published in six languages. The Arabic translation of a book

by Hazrat Khalifatul Masih II (ra) was also published for the first time.

The Bulgarian translation of “Christianity: Journey from Facts to Fiction” and the Danish translation of “An Elementary Study of Islam”, both by Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IV (rh), were published for the first time. Similarly, the answers to various questions given by Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V (aa) have also been compiled and published in book form in English as well.

Nazarat Nashr-o-Ishaat Qadian

In addition, 116 Jamaat magazines and periodicals are being published by the various auxiliary organisations in 22 languages.

include “The Life of the Promised Messiah (as)”, “Noah’s Ark” (Kashti-e-Nuh), “Forty Gems of Beauty” (Chalis Jawahir Pare) and other literature.

Exhibitions, bookstalls & book fairs

Chinese Desk

The message of Islam Ahmadiyyat reached more than 1,007,000 people through 3,688 exhibitions. During this year, 7,014 book stalls and book fairs were organised, through which more than 1.37 million people were reached.

Raqeem Press and other printing presses

Translations of the Holy Quran have now been published in 14 regional languages of India and twenty books of the Promised Messiah (as) were also translated to India’s regional languages.

By the grace of Allah, the first Urdu Nastaleeq font developed by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat named “Tawhid Nastaliq” has also been completed in Qadian for use in Quranic translations. The Arabic text of Tafsir-e-Saghir has been prepared in the “Khat-e-Manzoor” font, while the Urdu translation has been prepared in the “Tawhid Nastaliq” font.

The total number of books printed at Raqeem Press in Farnham is 157,240. In addition, the press has also produced large quantities of pamphlets, leaflets, tracts, magazines, stationery and other printed materials.

Seven printing presses are established in African countries where a total of 760,000 books were printed, along with more than 8.2 million magazines, newspapers and other literature. This year, a new printing press was also established in Uganda.

Wakalat-e-Tasneef UK

Wakalat Ta‘mil-o-Tanfidh

By the grace of Allah, a translation of the Holy Quran was published this year in a new language: Lithuanian. This brings the total number of translations of the Holy Quran published by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community to 79.

English translations of the following books by the Promised Messiah (as) were published this year: “Najm-ul-Huda”, “Khutbah Ilhamiyyah”, “Karamat-usSadiqeen” and volume 5 of “Malfuzat”.

Likewise, the English translation of the first volume of Ruhani Khazain titled “Ruhani Treasures” was published in a single volume. English translations of the following books by Hazrat Musleh-e-Maud (ra) were also published: “Inqilab-e-Haqiqi”, “Mutalibat-e-Tehrik-e-Jadid”, “Irfan-e-Ilahi” and “Waqi’at-e-Khilafat Hazrat Abu Bakr (ra)”.

Distribution of free literature In this past year, 2,587 different titles of books and folders were distributed free of charge, with a total of 4,462,648 copies.

Through this effort, the message of Islam Ahmadiyyat reached 5,524,575 people worldwide.

To date, libraries have been established in 108 countries, with more than 732 regional and central libraries now in operation.

An exhibition on the theme of “The Existence of God Almighty” has been prepared in the premises of the residence of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra).

Arabic Desk The total number of books published under its supervision has now reached 200.

These include the complete set of the Urdu books of Ruhani Khazain, the complete set of Malfuzat, Tafsir-e-Kabir, tafsir of the Holy Quran by the Promised Messiah (as) as well as translations of another 34 books.

Bengali Desk Bengali translations of six books of the Promised Messiah (as) have been published, including “Barahin-e-Ahmadiyya Part V”, “Satara-e-Qaisariyyah”, “Sachai Ka Izhar”, “Shahadat-ul-Qur’an”, “Mi‘yar-ulMadhahib” and “Qadian ke Arya aur Hum”.

French Desk The French translation of Lecture Lahore has been published while work on other translations is continuing.

Spanish Desk Translations of six books into Spanish were completed during the year. These

The Arabic translation of At-Tafsir alMuyassar (the Five-Volume Commentary) is also underway and volumes one and two have already been published. The English translation of Fiqh-ul-Masih has also been published. The English translations of Volume I of Majmu’ah Ishtiharat and AlQaul al-Sahih have been completed and are in their final stages.

Leaflet campaign During the year, more than 7,866,000 leaflets were distributed across 120 countries, reaching more than 39.2 million people.

Waqf-e-Nau The Waqf-e-Nau scheme now has a total of 87,667 members, including 50,981 boys and 36,686 girls. During the year, 3,116 parents from 74 countries dedicated their unborn children to the Waqf-e-Nau scheme.

The Review of Religions By the grace of Allah, the magazine has now entered its 124th year of publication, reaching millions of people in English, German, Spanish, and French. This year, a digital edition was launched. A special issue entitled “Mecca: Journey to the Centre of Islam” was published and exhibitions based on its content were also displayed at the Jalsa Salana UK and Jalsa Salana Canada.

MTA International MTA International has 16 departments, in which 308 male volunteers and 179 female volunteers work day and night. MTA operates eight main channels and three regional channels in Indonesia, The Gambia and Suriname, with continuous broadcasts reaching all parts of the world through 11 satellites.

in 28 different languages. This year, Albanian, Swedish, Portuguese and Italian were added to the list of broadcast languages.

During the year, MTA produced 807 programmes, while 1,938 programmes were produced by international studios around the world.

Two new apps, “Al-Wasiyyat” and “Ten Conditions of Bai‘at”, were also launched.

With the addition of 36 new English e-books, the total number of English e-books has reached 260.

MTA Africa

They organised 65 exhibitions during the year, benefiting 200,000 people. Eight new model villages were constructed in five countries, while 17 new solar systems were installed in four countries.

This year marked the 10th anniversary of MTA Africa. Over the past ten years, more than 7,000 programmes have been produced and thousands of people have accepted Ahmadiyyat through these channels. MTA Africa is now established in 15 African countries and this year a new branch was opened in South Africa.

Across Africa, the Jamaat currently owns 26 radio stations which broadcast 220,097 programmes comprising 153,050 hours.

More than 19,000 people contacted Jamaat mission houses after hearing about the Jamaat through these radio broadcasts.

At present, 41 clinics and hospitals are operating across 14 African countries.

These include 35 central facilities and 54 local facilities, while 74 visiting doctors also provide medical services. During the past year, more than 500,000 patients received medical treatment.

In 13 African countries, the Jamaat operates 620 primary and middle schools and 80 secondary schools, providing educational services.

Voice of Islam Radio (UK)

Humanity First

They have also completed 10 years of broadcasting. It is currently broadcast live in 13 cities across the United Kingdom, while its online broadcasts can be heard worldwide. According to estimates, its potential audience exceeds 120 million people.

Last year, Voice of Islam was honoured with the nationally recognised London Dialogue Awards for Interfaith Relations in recognition of its efforts to promote interfaith harmony and dialogue.

The Jamaat had the opportunity to serve more than 2.5 million people in 26 countries and assistance was provided to more than 200,000 people affected by 30 natural disasters and armed conflicts, including 125,000 people affected in Gaza.

Medical treatment was also provided, including free eye care and cataract surgeries.

Radio stations

Other global TV and radio broadcasts In addition to MTA International’s 24-hour broadcasts, the Jamaat was also able to convey Islam’s peaceful message through television and radio channels in 70 countries, broadcasting 17,138 television programmes and receiving a total of 89,802 hours of airtime.

In addition to the Jamaat’s own radio stations, more than 16,000 programmes comprising 26,314 hours of broadcasting were aired on radio stations in various countries. Through these television and radio programmes, it is conservatively estimated that the message reached more than 230 million people.

Prison outreach and care Contact was made with a total of 20,709 prisoners across 49 countries. Their basic needs, however small, were attended to. As a result, 210 prisoners reformed their lives, resolved to improve their future conduct, and decided to join the Jamaat by taking bai‘at.

Reconnecting with new Ahmadis Contact was re-established during the year with 54,485 new Ahmadis across 95 countries, including Cameroon, Niger, Mali, Benin, Guinea-Bissau and others.

Training classes for new converts are ongoing with a total attendance of 182,000 participants. In addition, 1,264 imams received training through various educational programmes to learn the true teachings of Islam.

Newspaper coverage

Bai‘ats

A total of 4,160 newspapers and magazines published articles, features and news about the Jamaat. The combined readership of these publications is estimated to be more than 180 million people.

By the grace of Allah, the total number of bai‘ats during the year was 267,596. During the year, people representing more than 670 ethnic groups and nationalities in 132 countries accepted Ahmadiyyat.

Huzoor (aa) also mentioned some incidents of acceptance of Ahmadiyyat, some of which are briefly mentioned below.

Alislam.org The Alislam website launched the Read Hadith app, through which more than 16,000 ahadith have been linked with the Holy Quran according to subject matter.

The Quran search engine has also been enhanced. More than 10,000 crossreferences have been linked to the Holy Quran and with the addition of the Persian translation, the number of translations available in the Qur’an App has increased to 13.

Chad: Seeing the Promised Messiah in a dream The missionary in charge of Chad says that one of our teachers, who belongs to an Arab tribe, had been preaching to his sister for quite some time. Whenever the message of the Jamaat was conveyed to her, she would always pray to Allah to guide her to the right path.

She relates that a few days ago, during the daytime, I was engaged in the remembrance of Allah when I saw a venerable elder in a vision. At the same time, I heard the words:

َ ْ ُ َ َْ ‫اُم اْل ُ​ُح �َّجة‬ ‫َاْل ِ​ِإَم‬

[This roughly translates to “The Imam, the conclusive proof.”]

Later, she saw a picture on her brother’s mobile phone and asked, “Who is this?” Her brother replied that this is the Promised Messiah (as) – the same venerable elder she had seen in her dream. She subsequently joined the Jamaat.

Cameroon: ‘Obey Masroor Ahmad and join him’ In Cameroon, the local missionary relates that in the children’s class held at the Jamaat mosque, he teaches the Holy Quran and religious knowledge. The children are also taught the names of the Khulafa of the Promised Messiah (as).

A non-Ahmadi child had also memorised these names, including the name of Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the present Khalifa of the Jamaat. One day, he was loudly reciting them at home when his father asked him, “What are you reciting?” The child told his father about where he had learnt the names and also said that they tell the children, “We are Ahmadis, and our present imam is Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad.”

Upon hearing this, his father said, “I was once shown the name ‘Masroor Ahmad’ in a dream. I heard a voice saying, ‘Obey Masroor Ahmad and join him.’” Upon this, the father got in touch with the local missionary.

After several question-and-answer sessions, studying the Jamaat’s literature and after becoming fully satisfied, he took the bai‘at and joined the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat.

Congo Kinshasa: Preaching through Ahmadiyya radio A local missionary from Congo Kinshasa writes that he presents the Jamaat’s programme on a local radio station where a Sunni imam sent him a telephone message saying: “I listened to your radio programme about the advent of the Messiah, in which you presented Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) as the Promised Messiah of this age. What I heard has left my heart in a state of deep unease. I am currently ill, so please come and visit me. I fear that I may pass away while still burdened by doubts and uncertainties.”

The local missionary visited him and after a detailed discussion, the imam accepted the message of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat.

He further said: “I seek Allah’s forgiveness for the opposition I have shown in the past towards Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as). If Allah grants me life, I will now stand with you in all your preaching efforts and I will remain steadfast in this faith until my last breath.”

He then added: “Please convey my greetings to the Khalifa of the time as well.”

Huzoor (aa) remarked that one could only wish that there were such good-hearted imams in Pakistan as well.

Niger: A miraculous transformation There is a chapter in the Niger region

where a new mosque has been built. At the inauguration of this mosque, an elder local Ahmadi recalled the early days of the village and narrated a deeply moving and faithinspiring account in which he described how there was a time when the atmosphere of the village was extremely corrupt and devoid of spirituality. Immorality was widespread in the village. People openly brewed and consumed alcohol.

Then, when the message of the Promised Messiah (as) reached the village nine years ago, a number of sincere souls accepted the bai‘at and with that began an extraordinary spiritual transformation. People abandoned sin and wrongdoing and turned towards prayer and worship. They repented from drinking alcohol and other immoral practices and began living pure and righteous lives. Now, old and young alike contribute in the way of Allah.

The elder declared that this mosque is not merely a building – it is a miracle for us.

This mosque bears witness to the fact that the message of the Muhammadan Messiah (as) is not only reaching every corner of the world, but is also bringing about profound spiritual transformations in people’s lives. As a result, our faith has become stronger and more firmly established than ever before.

Conclusion Huzoor (aa) concluded his address with the following words of the Promised Messiah (as): “Desist! Fear His wrath, and understand that you have set a seal over your evil deeds.

If God were with you, you would not need to resort to such deceptions. Indeed, the prayer of just a single one of you would have been enough to destroy me; but none of your prayers reached heaven.

“On the contrary, the effect of your prayers is that you are the ones being vanquished day by day. […] Do you not observe that your numbers are decreasing while ours are increasing? If you were indeed upon the [side of] truth, should this have been the outcome of our contest?” (The Descent of the Messiah, p. 33) He further read: “O ignorant people! This Community has been established by Heaven. Do not contend with God. You cannot destroy it.

It shall always prevail. […] Do not wrong your own souls. And do not look upon this Jamaat with contempt, which has been raised by God for your reformation.

“Understand with certainty that if this undertaking had been the work of man and no hidden Hand had been with it, this Jamaat would long ago have been destroyed and such an impostor would have perished so swiftly that by now not even a trace of his bones would have remained.

“Therefore, reconsider the course of your opposition. At the very least, reflect on this much: perhaps you have made a mistake, and perhaps this struggle of yours is against God.” (Majmu’ah-e-Ishtiharat, Vol. 3, p. 159) Huzoor (aa) prayed for the guidance of the world, for Ahmadis to also fulfil their responsibilities and after conveying salaam to everyone, concluded the session.

Generosity and care in the life of the Promised Messiah (as) After reciting the tashahhud, ta’awwuz and Surah al-Fatihah, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V (aa) stated:

I will present some incidents in relation to the kindness, generosity and munificence of the Promised Messiah (as).

Hazrat Sheikh Yaqub Ali Sahib Irfani (ra) writes that his generosity was like an endless river and his hands were like clouds that showered pearls. It would start pouring and continue to satiate [those it fell upon]. This would increase exponentially during the month of Ramadan as he would continue to give to those in need in complete secrecy. In fact, he would not hesitate to give others even the most precious of things.

This characteristic of his can be found throughout every stage of his life. This was prominent even prior to his appointment [as the Messiah and Mahdi].

As such, recounting the kindness and benevolence of the Promised Messiah (as), Mian Ghaffara Sahib (Abdul Ghaffar) Kashmiri, relates that when he got married, the Promised Messiah (as) gave him two pieces of valuable jewellery to assist him financially. This was prior to him being commissioned [as the Promised Messiah], when he was still living a life of seclusion.

Hazrat Sheikh Sahib (ra) writes that this is not an isolated incident. Rather, there are many such incidents. It has never so happened that someone asked him for something and he did not give him anything, or that he perceived the need of someone and did not help or assist him, even without the individual asking the Promised Messiah (as). He was extremely generous and kind.

p. 290; Feroz-ul-Lughat, p. 52) The mother of Bashir Ahmad Sahib Bhatti says that once, on the occasion of the wedding of Hazrat Amirul Momineen, Khalifatul Masih II, Hazrat Mirza Mahmud Ahmad (ra), a woman who was involved in the playing of traditional music came to the house of the Promised Messiah (as) with a drum and started beating it, hoping to receive something, as it was a wedding. This was the custom there. When the Promised Messiah (as) heard the sound of the drum, he immediately turned his attention to it and said, “Tell her not to beat the drum and to stop it, and give her whatever she is asking for.” Accordingly, she was given four or five rupees. She then said, “Winter has arrived, and I get cold.” Upon this, the Promised Messiah (as) gave her a quilt as well. However, he stopped her from beating the drum. (Riwayat Ashab-e-Ahmad, Vol. 3, p. 441) Hazrat Mirza Bashir Ahmad Sahib (ra) relates that, first of all, it should be clearly understood that the Promised Messiah (as) was not fond of any particular type of clothing. During the last few years of his life, he received many simple and tailored clothes as gifts, especially coats, waistcoats, traditional trousers and upper garments, etc., which Sheikh Rahmatullah Sahib of Lahore would frequently bring with him as gifts on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha. These were generally the clothes he wore. However, aside from this, he would occasionally have clothes made for himself as well. He usually purchased his own turbans and wrapped

them as well.

In the same manner that these clothes were made and worn, they were also continually given away, for people would constantly request them as blessed keepsakes.

At times, it would even reach the point that he would give away a piece of garment as a blessed keepsake and immediately have another one made to wear in its place. Some discerning individuals would even send him an item of their clothes and, at the same time, request the Promised Messiah (as) to give them one of his worn garments as a blessed keepsake. (Sirat-ul-Mahdi, Vol. 1, Part 2, Riwayat 447, p. 416) Hazrat Mufti Muhammad Sadiq Sahib (ra) writes that the Promised Messiah (as) once said to him: “I used to have a small pocket-sized copy of the Quran that I used to carry with me. It was beautifully printed with a very clear script, and I was very fond of it. But someone asked me for it, so I gave it to him so that I would not have to refuse a person who asked.” (Zikr-e-Habib, p. 138) Hazrat Qureshi Sheikh Muhammad Sahib (ra), who worked as a postman in the post office and was a resident of Qadian, relates: “On one occasion, I took a large number of money orders to the Promised Messiah (as) for distribution. After handing over the amounts to him, I continued delivering the remaining money orders throughout the town. When I returned to the post office at about four o’clock and began handing in the processed money orders to the postmaster,

the accounts revealed that I had mistakenly overpaid someone by six rupees.

“I became extremely worried because the amount delivered to the Promised Messiah (as) had been a substantial sum.

The postmaster, whose name was Allah Ditta and who was a prejudiced nonAhmadi, said to me, ‘It would be best if you went and asked Mirza Sahib.’

“I really did not want to trouble the Promised Messiah (as) again, but because the postmaster insisted repeatedly, I went to him and said, ‘Today I accidentally overpaid someone by six rupees.’

“The Promised Messiah (as) replied, ‘My dear brother, I do not even know exactly how much money was received, and I have already spent part of it (i.e., he had already distributed it to others). Nevertheless, you are a poor man, so I will give you these six rupees. But in future, be more careful, because you are poor.’”

This incident illustrates the Promised Messiah’s (as) noble character, generosity and compassion for those in need. (Riwayat Ashab-e-Ahmad, Vol. 5, pp. 337-338) Hazrat Mir Mehdi Husain Sahib (ra) relates: “On one occasion, Maulvi Muhammad Ahsan Sahib asked me for a copy of Chashmae-Masihi [Fountain of Christianity]. I told him, ‘The Promised Messiah (as) has instructed that a certain number of copies should always remain in the office because the government sometimes requests copies of published books. Therefore, there are no spare copies available to give you. However,

AL HAKAM | Friday 31 july 2026 if you obtain permission from the Promised Messiah (as), you may have one.’

“So Maulvi Sahib wrote to the Promised Messiah (as). In summary, he wrote: ‘Only 20 copies of Chashma-e-Masihi remain in the office, and I need one copy. If there is no objection, kindly allow one to be given to me.’

“The Promised Messiah (as) wrote on the letter, ‘You may take one copy,’ and signed it.” (Riwayat Ashab-e-Ahmad, Vol. 3, p. 479) This incident demonstrates not only the honesty and transparency of the companion, who openly explained the office’s policy and the limited number of remaining copies while respectfully making his request, but also the graciousness of the Promised Messiah (as). Although those copies had been reserved in case they were needed later, he still did not refuse the request of someone who asked.

From time to time, Pandit Mohan Lal, who was then a bright young man, would come to the Promised Messiah (as) carrying a note or letter from Pandit Lekh Ram. Since Mohan Lal’s family had long-standing ties with the family of the Promised Messiah (as), whenever he visited, the Promised Messiah (as) would never let him leave empty-handed. He would always give him something as a gift – such as fruit or fine sugar, which in those days was considered a particularly valuable gift.

Sheikh Yaqub Ali Sahib (ra) says, “Pandit Mohan Lal, whose family had also enjoyed friendly relations with mine since the time of my father, would often recount these incidents to me. He would always say, ‘The Promised Messiah (as) treated me with great kindness, always welcomed me with a smile, and never allowed me to leave empty-handed. On one occasion, the Promised Messiah (as) gave me some exceptionally fine apples. I took them with me. It had become Pandit Lekh Ram’s habit that whenever I returned, he would ask, “What have you brought?” When I told him that I had brought apples, he looked at them longingly and said, “Come on then, let me have some too.”

Pandit Mohan Lal said that I jokingly replied, “You shouldn’t eat anything that comes from the house of your enemy.

(You claim to be such a great opponent of the Promised Messiah [as], so why are you asking for something from his home?)”

Without another word, he immediately snatched an apple from my hand and began eating it.’”

Hazrat Sheikh Yaqub Ali Sahib (ra) concludes by saying that Mohan Lal always testified that he had experienced nothing but kindness, generosity and graciousness from the Promised Messiah (as). (Hayat-eAhmad, Vol. 2, Part 2, pp. 186-187) Hazrat Munshi Zafar Ahmad Sahib (ra) relates: “The Promised Messiah (as) kept musk.

On one occasion, I mentioned that I wanted some. He placed the container in front of me and said, ‘Take as much as you like.’

“I took only a small amount. Smiling, he said, ‘That is hardly anything,’ and then he himself measured out about one to one and a half tolas [approximately 11-17 grams] of musk and gave it to me.” (Ashab-e-Ahmad, Vol. 4, p. 213) Musk was an extremely valuable commodity – as it still is today – and was

used in perfumes and medicines. Yet the Promised Messiah (as) was never concerned with the monetary value of his possessions.

His only concern was to demonstrate the highest standards of generosity and noble character.

Hakim Mufti Fazlur Rahman Sahib (ra) relates the following incident, illustrating the Promised Messiah’s (as) deep compassion and generosity towards his friends: “My wife gave birth to a child, and on the seventh day, around Maghrib time, she began showing signs of meningitis. Since an epidemic of this illness was spreading at the time, I became extremely concerned.

“After the Maghrib prayer, I hurried to the Promised Messiah (as) and explained my wife’s condition. He said, ‘This appears to be the beginning of a very dangerous illness. Immediately give her ten rattis [a very small quantity] of asafoetida (he prescribed asafoetida to him), then come back and inform me after an hour or an hour and a half.’

“After the Isha prayer, I returned and reported, ‘The illness has increased (it has worsened instead of improving).’

“He then instructed, ‘Give her 10 rattis of quinine, and let me know again after an hour. And do not think that I will be asleep.

Simply call out from the men’s staircase without hesitation.’

“An hour later, I returned and said, ‘There has been no improvement.’ He replied, ‘Then give her 10 rattis of musk.’

I said, ‘At this hour, where can I possibly obtain musk?’

“The Promised Messiah (as) went inside, returned with a handful of musk, and said, ‘This should be enough for 10 rattis.’

I submitted, ‘Huzoor, this is far more than that.’ He replied, ‘Take it with you. It will be useful again in the future.’ I took it, measured out 10 rattis, and gave it to my wife.

“An hour later, I returned once more and informed him that her condition had become even more serious.

“He then instructed, ‘Give her 10 tolas [116 grams] of castor oil.’ He continued changing the medicines in an effort to help her. I returned home and gave her the castor oil. Soon afterwards, she vomited severely. In this illness, vomiting was usually considered the final stage. After vomiting, her breathing became laboured, her neck arched backwards, her eyesight faded, and she lost the ability to speak.

“I immediately ran back and called from the staircase. Hearing my voice, the Promised Messiah (as) opened the door and asked, ‘What has happened?’

“I replied, ‘Her condition has become critical. She is struggling to breathe, her neck has become rigid (this is a symptom of this illness known as meningitis), she has lost sight in her eyes, and she has lost her speech.’

“The Promised Messiah (as) said, ‘We have now used every remedy that this world has to offer. Only one remedy remains, and that is prayer. Go home. I will now bow my head in prayer (what extraordinary compassion he displayed) until Allah grants her recovery.’

“Hearing these words, I returned home and said to my wife, ‘Now you have nothing to worry about. The One Who has taken responsibility for your case has Himself taken charge.’

“By then it was two o’clock in the morning. I left my wife in that condition, spread a bed for myself in the next room, and went to sleep, saying to myself, ‘The Promised Messiah (as) has said that he will now pray. There is nothing more for me to do.’

“The next morning, I awoke to the sound of utensils. When I looked up, I saw my wife at the foot of my bed arranging the kitchenware. I asked, ‘How are you?’ She replied, ‘You were asleep. About two hours later, Allah the Almighty bestowed His grace upon me. All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of all the worlds.’” (Sirat-e-Ahmad, Qudratullah Sanauri Sahib, pp. 17-172) This incident demonstrates the Promised Messiah’s (as) exemplary standards of both compassion for his friends and generosity towards them.

Hazrat Sheikh Yaqub Ali Sahib (ra) writes that there was a man of Jatt [caste] in Qadian named Nihal Singh, who was an uncouth and foolish man in his youth.

He had served in the army and received a pension. His house stood wall-to-wall with the drawing room of Khan Bahadur Mirza Sultan Ahmad Sahib. He was a bitter enemy of the Jamaat. At his instigation, a serious but false criminal case was filed against the first Khalifa, Hazrat Hakim-ul-Ummat (Hazrat Khalifa Noor-ud-Deen, Khalifatul Masih I [ra]), and some other Ahmadis.

He would always join others in harassing Ahmadis, and hurling abuse at them had become his regular habit.

During the very period when these court cases were ongoing, musk became necessary for the wife of his nephew, named Santa Singh. Not only was musk unavailable elsewhere, but it was also an extremely expensive item. In this situation, Nihal Singh himself, the same man who was an opponent, came to the door of the Promised Messiah (as) and requested some musk.

As soon as he called out, the Promised Messiah (as) immediately came out and didn’t make him wait even for a moment.

As soon as he heard the request, he went inside immediately, saying, “Wait here; I will bring it right now.” He then returned with approximately half a tola of musk and handed it over to him. (Sirat Hazrat Masihe-Maud [as], Sheikh Yaqub Ali Irfani, Vol. 2, pp. 295-296; Feroz-ul-Lughat, p. 175) Hazrat Sheikh Yaqub Ali Sahib (ra) further writes that when the plague spread through the country, the Promised Messiah (as), under divine revelation and guidance from Allah the Almighty, began preparing a medicine, which he named “Tiryaq-eIlahi” [The Divine Antidote]. And there was no fixed formula for this medicine.

Rather, whatever ingredients Allah the Almighty guided him to include through subtle divine revelation, he would gather and add accordingly, paying no attention to conventional principles of medicine; even the weights and measures of the ingredients were determined solely under divine guidance. (He would add the quantities as he was guided.) Several thousand rupees’ worth of precious ingredients were incorporated into this medicine, along with other costly medicinal ingredients.

When the medicine was prepared, the Promised Messiah (as) distributed it with great generosity. He did not charge anyone even for a single pill or grain of it. In fact, when people requested it from distant

places, he would send it to them by registered parcel entirely at his own expense.

Dr Sadiq Sahib once related that, “Someone requested only two or three masha [unit of measurement] of the tiryaq; however, the Promised Messiah (as) packed a larger quantity into containers and had it sent by registered post.” [Hazrat Sheikh Yaqub Ali] Irfani Sahib (ra) writes, “When I also requested some, the Promised Messiah (as) granted me a very large quantity.” This wasn’t his practice only with regard to the “Ttryaq”; rather, when it came to medicines, his character was such that he would often hand over entire bottles to those who requested them.

On some occasions, he even gave highly valuable, top-quality musk to his fiercest enemies, one such incident having already been mentioned earlier. (Sirat Masih-eMaud [as], Hazrat Sheikh Yaqub Ali Sahib Irfani [ra], Vol. 2, pp. 309-320) Hazrat Sheikh Muhammad Naseem Sahib (ra) states that, “On one occasion I needed musk, which was almost impossible to obtain in Qadian during those days. I asked the Promised Messiah (as) regarding it, and he gave me far more than what I actually required.” (Riwayat Ashab-eAhmad, Vol. 5, p. 446) Munshi Zafar Ahmad Sahib (ra) of Kapurthala relates that, “A friend had made great efforts and spent a considerable amount of money to obtain the formula for preparing a particular medicinal mixture from someone.

“After preparing it, he presented the medicine and its formula to the Promised Messiah (as). Another friend asked me to obtain that formula, but the friend would not share it with anyone. I went to the Promised Messiah (as) and said, ‘A certain friend has presented a medicinal mixture to Huzoor.’ He replied, ‘The bottle is lying there. You may take it.’ I then asked, ‘What about the formula?’ Huzoor replied, ‘That too is lying right beside it.’

“So I took both the medicinal mixture and its written formula and showed them to that friend, saying, ‘You would not tell anyone, but I have brought it. Here it is.’

That friend then went to the Promised Messiah (as) and remarked, ‘Huzoor has given it away.’ The Promised Messiah (as) replied, ‘He came to me asking for it, so I gave it to him.’ The Promised Messiah (as) further told me, ‘We also have the notebook of prescriptions belonging to Mirza Sahib (i.e., his late father). If you want medicinal formulas, I will give you that notebook as well. It contains many excellent prescriptions; you may take it.’ However, afterwards I no longer remembered to take that notebook, although Huzoor had graciously wished to give it to me.” (Ashabe-Ahmad, Vol. 4, pp. 214-215) Hazrat Mufti Muhammad Sadiq Sahib (ra) wrote in a letter to the Promised Messiah (as): “Due to a pregnancy, there has for some time been such difficulty in my household that food cannot be prepared at home. Bread can be baked by others, but preparing cooked dishes is difficult.

Therefore, I respectfully request that for some time arrangements may be made for curry from the Langar [communal kitchen] to be sent to my home.”

In reply, the Promised Messiah (as) wrote to Mian Najmuddin Sahib, who was in charge of the Langar, instructing him:

“Mufti Sahib should be provided with goodquality curry from the Langar twice daily.

This is an instruction.” (Zikr-e-Habib, p.

281) Hazrat Muhammad Ismail Sahib (ra) relates, “The Promised Messiah (as) once intended to send a delegation to Nasibain to investigate matters relating to Jesus (as).

The delegation consisted of Mirza Khuda Bakhsh Sahib, Maulvi Qutbuddin Sahib, and the third member (the narrator says) was my father, Mian Jamaluddin Sahib. These individuals had been selected by drawing lots. The Promised Messiah (as) gave each of the three men 50 rupees to prepare clothing and other necessities for the journey. He also held a farewell gathering for them.

“However, due to certain circumstances, the expedition was later cancelled. When the journey was called off, (the narrator says that) my father went to return the 50 rupees to the Promised Messiah (as). Huzoor replied, ‘Whatever we have once given to someone, we do not take back.’ When my father returned home, he later narrated this incident to me.” (Riwayat Ashab-e-Ahmad, Vol. 2, p. 140) Hazrat Malik Ghulam Husain Sahib (ra) relates, “The Jalsa Salana of either 1894 or 1895 was also attended by Husamuddin Sahib Sialkoti, who had a great fondness for cooking and food. He spoke very highly in the presence of the Promised Messiah (as) about a dish called ‘shab deg’, saying, ‘Your Holiness, shab deg is an exceptionally delicious dish.’ (Shab deg is a dish prepared with different kinds of meat, and various vegetables and other ingredients are also added to it; it is then cooked throughout the night.)

“The Promised Messiah (as) called me and said, ‘Provide Shah Sahib with whatever he likes and as many ingredients as he requires.’ Accordingly, meat was obtained locally, while turnips were brought from Batala. Towards the evening, approximately four large cooking pots were placed on the fire. Rice was also purchased from a wellknown shop in the amount of about two to two and a half maunds. In the morning the guests were served food as desired by Syed Husamuddin Sahib.” (Riwayat Ashab-eAhmad, Vol. 4, p. 30) Hazrat Mirza Bashir Ahmad Sahib (ra) relates, “Munshi Zafar Ahmad Sahib wrote to me saying: ‘Once, on the occasion of Jalsa Salana, the funds ran out. In those days, there was no regular system of collecting donations specifically for Jalsa Salana; rather, the Promised Messiah (as) would personally bear the expenses from his own resources.

“The late Mir Nasir Nawab Sahib, who was in charge of the Langar, came and submitted that there was no provision left for the guests that night. In other words, the expenses had been exhausted, the money had run out, and the stores of food had also been depleted. There was now nothing available with which to feed the guests.

“The Promised Messiah (as) said, ‘Take some jewellery from Bibi Sahiba; that may be sufficient to fulfil the need at hand.’ In other words, the Promised Messiah (as) instructed that jewellery be taken from Hazrat Amma Jaan (ra), and that it should either be sold or used to raise funds so that provisions could be arranged. Accordingly, the jewellery was either sold or pledged, and Mir Sahib brought the money and arranged

the necessary provisions for the guests.

“Two days later, Mir Sahib again said at night, in my presence, that there was nothing left for the following day. The funds raised from the jewellery had lasted for two days, but now what was to be done?

The Promised Messiah (as) said, ‘We made whatever arrangements we could with apparent means. We have given whatever we had. There is nothing left for us to do. These are the guests of God and have come for the sake of Allah the Almighty; they are the guests of Allah. He Himself will now make the arrangements.’

“Munshi Zafar Ahmad Sahib says, ‘The next morning, around eight or nine o’clock, when the postman arrived, the Promised Messiah (as) called Mir Sahib and me.

The postman had in his hand around 10 or 15 money orders that had arrived from different places, each for 50 or 100 rupees.

The senders had written on them that they were unable to attend the Jalsa, and were therefore sending money for the expenses of the guests.

“The Promised Messiah (as) received the money orders and then delivered a discourse on trust in Allah. Munshi Zafar Ahmad Sahib says, ‘A few others were also present at the time. The Promised Messiah (as) said, “Just as a worldly person has confidence in the money placed in his safe, believing that he can take it out whenever he wishes, those who place their trust in Allah have an even greater certainty in Allah the Almighty. It is certainly the case that whenever there is a need, Allah the Almighty sends the means immediately.”’” (Sirat-ul-Mahdi, Vol. 2, Part 4, Riwayat 1124, pp. 97-98) Thus, when the Promised Messiah (as) said that they were the guests of Allah and had come for His sake, he would certainly have prayed as well; and his trust in Allah was resolute. Allah the Almighty then made the arrangements Himself.

Hazrat Mian Rahmatullah Sahib (ra) relates, “The Promised Messiah (as) would say, ‘Famine and the plague are happening all at once, yet still people do not repent. They die of hunger.’ Three years after this, a severe plague spread across the country. During the days of famine, the Promised Messiah (as) would say that it is mentioned in the Ahadith that a famine would occur in the time of the Promised Messiah. The saying of the Holy Prophet (sa) and the promise of Allah the Almighty were fulfilled.

“On the other hand, the Promised Messiah (as) instructed Maulvi Sahib, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra), that as much grain as possible should be procured.

At that time, the Promised Messiah (as) himself oversaw the arrangements of the Langar. Since there was a fear and danger of famine, he instructed that grain and other provisions should first be arranged, and he entrusted Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) with this task so that purchases could be made immediately.

“In accordance with the Promised Messiah’s (as) instruction, Maulvi Sahib purchased 30 sacks for the Langar from me.

There was a shortage of donations, and the Promised Messiah (as) sold all the jewellery that was present in his home. He gave Maulvi Sahib 700 rupees to purchase wheat.

(Seven hundred rupees was a very large sum in those days.) Hazrat Maulvi Sahib then sent the late Mian Najmuddin Sahib to the village to purchase wheat. It is said that

Mirza Ismail Sahib also accompanied him and they purchased grain.

“People who had been displaced from Bikaner, a region of Rajasthan in India, came into our area. A severe famine had struck there, and people had begun coming from that region. Cries for bread could be heard from every direction. The Promised Messiah (as) instructed that flour should be prepared in the Langar at all times and that bread should remain ready. He told Mian Najmuddin Sahib that anyone who asked for bread should be given bread and that no one should leave empty-handed.

“Within a few days, the grain that had been purchased was all used. The Promised Messiah (as) then delivered a speech, the words of which were as follows: ‘This is a temporary matter. Such sacrifices are not always required, nor is such reward always available. These are special days for the believers. May Allah the Almighty enable the members to strive for His pleasure.’

“As a result of this speech, some money was collected, and some also arrived from outside. More grain was then purchased.

In this way, during the days of famine, this system continued. Whoever came was immediately provided with food.

“The Promised Messiah (as) would say, ‘I read in some newspapers that in certain countries, so many children have died of hunger and so many people have died.

Grain is not available. The fact that grain is not available is a severe punishment and wrath from Allah the Almighty.’ He would repeatedly say, ‘May Allah the Almighty have mercy.’ With great concern and anguish, the Promised Messiah (as) would ask Mian Najmuddin Sahib and Maulvi Sahib about the grain.” (Riwayat Ashab-e-Ahmad, Vol. 4, pp. 72-73; “Bikaner”, Wikipedia) Even today, there are some countries in the world where similar conditions exist.

There is great hardship; famine prevails, grain is unavailable, or inflation is such that people cannot afford to buy food. People are dying from poverty and hunger. By the grace of Allah, wherever the Jamaat becomes aware of such conditions, it sends funds to assist people and fulfils their essential needs.

Members also contribute their share in this effort. May Allah the Almighty grant them even greater ability to continue striving to help the poor and those afflicted by famine.

Hazrat Qazi Noor Muhammad Sahib (ra) relates (writing at the time of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih II [ra]), “I had the opportunity to study at night in Dar-ulMasih with Hazrat Khalifatul Masih II (ra), who was my classmate. Hazrat Maulvi Sher Ali Sahib (ra) would teach us. The Promised Messiah (as) would deliver addresses to the ladies, and at that time the sound of his address would reach them clearly; however, regrettably, I do not remember what the Promised Messiah (as) said.

“Generally, Mullah Ahmad Noor would go to obtain flour for the Langar. When the flour was brought on a donkey, Allah the Almighty would grant this humble one the opportunity to lift the sack of flour and carry it into Dar-ul-Masih. On one occasion, I saw the Promised Messiah (as) bring many rupees in the fold of his shirt and place them into the pocket of Mullah Ahmad Noor’s garment without counting them.

He gave the money without counting it and instructed him, in effect, to go and purchase whatever was needed for the Langar so that

its arrangements could continue.” (Riwayat Ashab-e-Ahmad, Vol. 4, p. 75) Hazrat Mian Chiragh Din Sahib (ra) narrates: “On one occasion, my throat became so badly constricted that I lost my voice. The Promised Messiah (as) said to Hazrat Maulvi Noor-ud-Deen Sahib (ra): ‘See to Chiragh Sahib’s throat – what is the matter that he has lost his voice?’ Hazrat Maulvi Sahib (ra) treated him for some time, but to no avail. Then on one occasion, when Dr Muhammad Husain Shah Sahib, Dr Yaqub Baig Sahib, and Dr Bura Khan Sahib of Lahore all happened to be present together, the Promised Messiah (as) raised the matter before them as well, asking what the reason might be that the boy had lost his voice. Dr Yaqub Baig Sahib examined my throat and said: ‘If you give the order, the insides of his throat can be cut’ – meaning, it appeared to be a matter of the tonsils, and that removing them would restore his voice.

The Promised Messiah (as) said nothing in response and fell silent.

“A few days later, the Promised Messiah (as) said: ‘Chiragh, we shall now treat you ourselves’ – and looking at him there and then, he said: ‘We shall prepare a remedy for you.’ By God’s own wisdom, that very day a herbalist from Amritsar arrived carrying a jar of pickles made from madar leaves. The Promised Messiah (as) opened it, looked at it, and said: ‘This is your cure.’ The Promised Messiah (as) had already said he would prepare a remedy, and then, as if on cue, a man who prepared such things – remedies and preserves – arrived with this madar-leaf pickle, whereupon he declared it to be the treatment. At mealtimes, two or three leaves would be placed on a flatbread and given to him – it was very pleasant to eat – and the Promised Messiah (as) partook of it himself as well. He says: it brought him relief. At that point, the Promised Messiah (as) gave him the entire jar, saying: ‘Finish it yourself.’

And when he did, he recovered completely.”

(Riwayat Ashab-e-Ahmad, Vol. 2, p. 72) Hazrat Mirza Afzal Baig Sahib (ra) narrates: “I first came to Qadian in 1898.

My father, Mirza Fazal Baig Sahib, a court pleader, enrolled me in Talimul Islam High School to pursue my studies. At the time, there were a few boarding students, and their meals were provided through the Langar.

Some complaints were raised about the food and my father mentioned to the Promised Messiah (as) that the children were having difficulty with the meals. Out of his kindness, he immediately said that food would be sent to the children from his own home – and so for several months, our meals came from his personal household. From time to time, he would also send mangoes and sweets for the children to enjoy. (Riwayat Ashab-e-Ahmad, Vol. 4, p. 167) Khwajah Abdul Rahman Sahib Kashmiri told Hazrat Mirza Bashir Ahmad Sahib (ra) that the late Hafiz Hamid Ali Sahib used to recount: whenever money came to the Promised Messiah (as) from anywhere, he would call me, hand over the money without counting it, and say: “Take it now – who knows when there will be more.” Hazrat Mirza Bashir Ahmad Sahib (ra) notes that the late Hafiz Hamid Ali Sahib was among his personal attendants, to whom he would give money for household needs and to look after guests. (Sirat-ul-Mahdi, Vol. 1, Part 3, Narration 530, pp. 529-530) Hazrat Khan Sahib Syed Ghulam Husain

AL HAKAM | Friday 31 july 2026 Sahib (ra) narrates: On one occasion, the Promised Messiah (as) sent me from Qadian to Batala to collect a parcel that had arrived by rail and gave me five rupees for the purpose. The parcel had arrived by train, and I was to retrieve it. The parcel turned out to be a basket of grapes, on which only four annas had been charged. When I brought the basket and presented it to him, he tore open the burlap covering with both hands, scooped out some grapes, and gave them to me first, saying: “This is your share.” When I tried to return the remaining money – nearly five rupees – he picked up the basket, carried it inside, and said: “We do not keep accounts with our friends.” I was 15 years old at the time, he says. (Riwayat Ashab-eAhmad, Vol. 5, p. 120) Hazrat Munshi Qazi Mahbub Alam Sahib (ra) says: Maulvi Muhammad Ali Sahib and Khwaja Kamaluddin Sahib used to practise law together in Peshawar as partners – it was a shared practice. Maulvi Muhammad Ali Sahib later came to Qadian, while Khwaja Sahib remained there. When cases were brought against the Promised Messiah (as) – this appears to refer to the cases brought by Karam Din – Khwaja Sahib came from Peshawar to represent him.

The Promised Messiah (as) was present in the Mubarak Mosque when Khwaja Sahib arrived, wearing a look of great distress, and said: “Only God and His Prophet know what it took to get here. I pledged my wife’s jewellery to raise the fare for the journey.

The financial situation is very bad.” The Promised Messiah (as) said: “Khwaja Sahib, you need money? Come.” He went inside with Khwaja Sahib following him, opened a trunk, and scooped out two or three large handfuls – whatever coins had come in – and poured them into Khwaja Sahib’s lap, saying: “Is that enough, Khwaja Sahib – or do you need more?” Khwaja Sahib said: “That is more than enough.” When Khwaja Sahib counted the money afterwards in the Mubarak Mosque, it came close to 300 rupees. He left for Gurdaspur the following day.

The Promised Messiah (as) had poured that money into his lap without counting it at all – and this was his general habit: he never counted out money for his attendants either, placing complete trust and confidence in them. In all the time I was fortunate enough to spend in his company, I never once saw him ask any attendant for an account.

Whenever anyone asked, he simply gave.

(Riwayat Ashab-e-Ahmad, Vol. 4, p 277) Hazrat Sheikh Yaqub Ali Sahib Irfani (ra) writes, whilst mentioning the kindness shown to Khwaja Sahib: “Khwaja Kamaluddin Sahib, who has now severed his ties with the Jamaat – that is, he has separated himself from the Jamaat – and harbours enmity and hostility towards the progeny of his benefactor, (i.e., the Promised Messiah [as] had bestowed countless favours upon him, yet he bears animosity towards Hazrat Khalifatul Masih II [ra] who is from his progeny) had extensive personal experience of the graciousness, benevolence, generosity and munificence of the Promised Messiah (as). Indeed, he had witnessed these favours on numerous occasions. He received substantial sums of money repeatedly, yet despite receiving

them, he never once acknowledged it, nor did he ever express gratitude to the benefactor. Rather, he continued to boast of his own services, constantly claiming that he was rendering great service to the Jamaat.”

Hazrat Sheikh Yaqub Ali Sahib Irfani (ra) further writes: “I regard this as ingratitude towards one’s benefactor and a complete disregard of his favours. During the days when the court cases against Maulvi Karam Din were being heard in Gurdaspur, on one occasion, during the proceedings, he showed the Promised Messiah (as) a letter that had arrived from his home in Peshawar, mentioning the financial hardship they were facing.

The Promised Messiah (as) immediately gave him 500 rupees in cash and then instructed that he be given 100 rupees every month. Thereafter, he continued to receive 100 rupees monthly. In particular, at the instruction of the Promised Messiah (as), members of the Community had contributed a considerable sum towards the expenses of the court cases, and this money remained in Khwaja Sahib’s custody. Yet the Promised Messiah (as) never once asked him to account for it.

“In addition to such financial generosity and beneficence, Hazrat Sahibzada Abdul Latif Sahib Shaheed (ra) had presented the Promised Messiah (as) with a valuable Afghan-style coat. Khwajah Sahib requested it, saying, ‘Your Holiness! Kindly grant me this coat so that I may wear it when appearing in court. By virtue of its blessing, I shall command awe in the opposing counsel and in the court.’ With a smile, the Promised Messiah (as) presented this beautifully embroidered and valuable cloak to Khwaja Sahib.” (Sirat Masih-e-Maud [as], Part 3, pp. 311-312) This was also mentioned in the previous sermon: someone had brought a fine sheepskin leather coat. Even today, leather garments are regarded as valuable, and they were considered so in those days as well.

When Khwaja Sahib requested that coat, the Promised Messiah (as) gave it to him.

Sheikh Hamid Ali Sahib (ra) relates: “Until the very end of his life, he never once asked me to render an account, nor did he ever become displeased with me.

On one occasion, I went to Lahore. Maulvi Noor-ud-Deen Sahib had sent a remittance of 700 rupees, which he brought back. It was either in the form of cash, a money order, or a voucher. He also purchased some supplies, and after doing so, he returned with approximately 50 rupees remaining. I presented the breakdown to the Promised Messiah (as). He replied, ‘When did I ever ask you for a breakdown?’” (Sirat-e-Ahmad, Qudratullah Sanauri Sahib, p. 59) Hazrat Sheikh Ahmad Din Sahib (ra) relates: “On one occasion, the Promised Messiah (as) instructed this humble one, ‘Go to Mian Nabi Bakhsh Sahib, the darner, in Amritsar.’

The Promised Messiah (as) wrote a letter and said, ‘Deliver this to him. Whatever items he purchases for you, bring them back promptly, and return by tomorrow.’

“The following day, I was delayed somewhat in returning. The Promised Messiah’s (as) attendant, Mian Karamdad Sahib, was instructed, ‘Go quickly. I had sent

Ahmad Din to Amritsar, and he has still not returned. I hope all is well. Go and find out.’

“On the way, Mian Karamdad Sahib met me and said, ‘Hazrat Sahib is greatly concerned about you.’ When I presented myself before the Promised Messiah (as), he immediately asked, ‘Did you suffer any inconvenience?’

“I submitted, ‘Huzoor, I suffered no inconvenience whatsoever.’ Merely hearing Huzoor enquire after my well-being filled my heart with immense joy, for he had kindly asked after my condition.

“I then wished to present a breakdown of the expenses along with the remaining money. Huzoor (as) asked, ‘What is this paper?’ I respectfully replied, ‘It is the list of the items purchased, and this is the money that is left over.’

“With great affection, Huzoor said, ‘What accounting is there between you and me? You may spend this remaining money on your own needs.’ At this, I was overjoyed.”

(Riwayat Ashab-e-Ahmad, Vol. 4, pp. 95-96) Hazrat Sheikh Yaqub Ali Sahib Irfani (ra) relates that on one occasion, Hazrat Hakim-ul-Ummat Maulana Noor-udDeen Sahib (ra) borrowed a sum of money from the Promised Messiah (as). When he later sent the money back in repayment, the Promised Messiah (as) expressed his disapproval, returned it, and remarked, “Do you regard our money as being separate from your own?” (Sirat Masih-e-Maud [as], Part 3, p. 307) Hazrat Sheikh Yaqub Ali Sahib Irfani (ra) further writes that after the Promised Messiah (as) announced that he had been commissioned by God Almighty, and people also came to know that Allah the Almighty had given him the glad tidings, “Kings shall seek blessings from your garments,” people would commonly request articles of his clothing. He would never refuse anyone. At times, the situation became such that only the clothes he was wearing remained on his person, as all his other garments had been given away. (Sirat Masih-e-Maud [as], Part 2, p. 290) Hazrat Sheikh Yaqub Ali Sahib Irfani (ra) relates that the Promised Messiah (as) permitted Mir Abbas Ali Sahib to retain and spend the proceeds received from the sale of Barahin-e-Ahmadiyya. This is but a modest illustration of his magnanimity and generosity.

Hazrat Munshi Zafar Ahmad Sahib (ra) narrates that Mirza Nizamuddin Sahib and Mirza Imamuddin Sahib, though relatives of the Promised Messiah (as), were among his staunch opponents. Nevertheless, whenever they found themselves in need and sought financial assistance from the Promised Messiah (as), he would fulfil their request. On one occasion, he relates, Mirza Nizamuddin Sahib asked the Promised Messiah (as), in his presence, for 50 rupees, or thereabouts. The Promised Messiah (as) immediately instructed Hafiz Hamid Ali Sahib to deliver the amount to him. (Ashabe-Ahmad, Vol. 4, pp. 215-216) Hazrat Mirza Bashir Ahmad Sahib (ra) writes that Dr Mir Muhammad Isma’il Sahib (ra) related to him that, during the era of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra), Abdul Muhyi Sahib, an Arab, once remarked to him: “What can one say of the generosity

of the Promised Messiah (as)? During his lifetime, I never experienced any hardship.

Whenever I needed something, I would ask him without the slightest hesitation, and he would give me more than I needed. Indeed, he would also provide for me of his own accord.

“After the Promised Messiah (as) passed away, although Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) was himself renowned for his generosity, he was unable to fulfil my needs in the same manner. After all, finding myself in difficulty, I wrote to him saying, ‘You have indeed become the Khalifa of the Promised Messiah (as), but in fulfilling my needs you have not succeeded to his example. The Promised Messiah (as) used to treat me in such and such a manner.’

“Upon receiving my letter, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) provided me with financial assistance. Even so,” he said, “I swear by Allah that there is no comparison between the Promised Messiah (as) and anyone else in this respect. No one comes near him in comparison.” (Sirat-ul-Mahdi, Vol. 1, Part 3, Narration 562, p. 545) On one occasion, a poor woman stole some rice from the house of the Promised Messiah (as). When people caught her, a commotion arose. At the time, the Promised Messiah (as) was in his room working and upon hearing the noise, he came out. He saw a poor, destitute woman, extremely dishevelled, standing with a small bag of rice in her hand. When the Promised Messiah (as) learnt of the entire incident and observed the state of this poor woman, he felt great sympathy for her, and he said, “This woman appears to be hungry and destitute. So give her some more rice and let her go. And adopt the divine attribute of Sattar [i.e., covering one’s shortcomings].”

After narrating this incident, Hazrat Mirza Bashir Ahmad Sahib (ra) states, “Following this account, someone could hastily draw the conclusion that this act emboldens the habit of stealing; in other words, one is giving further courage to the one who has committed theft. However, a wise person would understand that since the property belonged to the Promised Messiah (as) and the one who took from it was a hungry and destitute woman, then this would not be considered as lending support to the act of stealing; rather, it would be considered as helping the needy. It is proven from the Ahadith that in such compelling circumstances, the Holy Prophet (sa) also did not consider such a person a thief, who was extremely hungry and took something to eat. Rather, he concealed his flaw in such a case.” (Sirat-e-Tayyibah, pp. 64-65) These are the perfect examples of subservience to his master, the Holy Prophet (sa).

ْ َ َ َ �ٰ َ ْ ْ َ ‫َالّٰل ُ​ُھ �َّم َ​َص ّ �ِّل َ​َعٰلٰی ُ​ُم َ​َح �َّم ٍ​ٍد �َّو َ​َعٰلٰی َ​َع ْ​ْب ِ​ِدَک اْل َ​َم ِ​ِس ْ​ْی ِ​ِح اْل َ​َمْوْ ُ​ُعْوْ ِ​ِد َ​َوَبَاِرِْک‬ � ‫َ​َو َ​َسِّل ّْْم‬

[O Allah! Send down Your blessings upon Muhammad and upon Your servant the Promised Messiah. And grant blessings and peace.]
