NATIONAL ALGAE COMPETITION THAT CHALLENGES STUDENTS TO BECOME THE NEXT GENERATION OF
The AlgaePrize challenges high school, community college, and university students from all over the country to develop novel solutions to production, processing, and new product development on the way to gigaton-scale algae commercialization for fuel, food, feed, products, and carbon dioxide utilization/sequestration
Students have the opportunity to earn prize money and national recognition by developing creative solutions for real-world issues in the algae value chain The competition establishes students as serious candidates for the next generation of STEM positions and opportunities.
Competitors conduct their research over two academic years, culminating in an in-person competition weekend at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, CO, where they have the opportunity to compete for additional prize money and network with leaders in the algae and biotechnology industries.
Products made from algae are the natural solution to energy, food, economic, and climate challenges facing our world today
The AlgaePrize fosters applied solutions that shape the global future of algae by producing biofuels, biofoods, biofeeds, and industrial compounds. It helps build the future algal bioeconomy and create clean-energy jobs through the innovative research conducted by students!
