Five simple steps to remembering The Alfred in your Will 1. Talk to your solicitor or Trustee Company The easiest way to go about including a gift in your Will is to seek the advice of a solicitor or Trustee Company offering a Will-writing service. Simply hand this card to your solicitor when you next visit them and let them know you would like to name The Alfred as a beneficiary in your Will. They can explore your preferences and make sure your generous wishes are properly carried out. 2. Decide on the type of gift you would like to leave Here is some sample wording to describe the type of gift that you’d like to include in your Will or codicil (an addition to your Will): I, _______________________________________ [Insert your full name] Would like to leave a gift in my Will to The Alfred (ABN 27 318 956 319). I give the residue of my entire estate to The Alfred, 55 Commercial Road, Melbourne, Victoria 3004. I give ___% (the desired percentage) of my estate to The Alfred, 55 Commercial Road, Melbourne, Victoria 3004.


3. Describe how you would like your gift to be used I would like my gift to be used: for The Alfred’s general purposes, allowing The Alfred to use it wherever it is needed most at the time it is received. ideally for the purpose of ____________________________________ [add a brief description of the medical condition or department or area of research]. However, if this ceases to exist or does not require ongoing funding at the time my gift is received, then it is to be used for general purposes for treatment and patient care at The Alfred. I’d like my gift to be left in the memory of______________________ [Insert the name of your loved one] The official receipt from The Alfred shall be sufficient discharge to my executor who shall not be bound to see its application. 4. Other things for you to consider There is a range of ways you can choose to support The Alfred through a gift in your Will. For example, you might want to leave a certain amount or specific asset in your Will or you might like to establish a fund to donate in perpetuity. We recommend you discuss these options with The Alfred’s Gifts in Wills Team and your solicitor or Trustee Company. That way we can all make sure that your final wishes can be honoured without encountering any complications or difficulties in the future. We also recommend that you take some time to talk through your intentions and plans with your family and loved ones, to ensure they fully understand your final wishes. 5.
