The FieldHouse 1
at medcamps
3rd year
our program:
Our class was tasked with designing a comprehensive sports pavilion that would get built through the Louisiana Tech’s 335 Design Build Class. This project is for a special needs camp located in Chudrent, LA. Within this 1,000 SF pavilion, we were required to have 1 ADA restroom; covered, shaded, seating for 40 people and 16 wheelchairs; and a storage room for all the necessary do-dads and equipment that is needed for the summer camp to play field sports.
built work
Our class had three design presentations. After each one our clients chose a scheme to continue working off of. First we presented 5 schemes, then 3 then one. The clients favored my scheme due to its flexibility and clear separation of spaces and as a class we continued to iterate upon it. Other themes that continued from my original design into the final building include the large sliding door, the flexible movable bleachers, the passive cooling systems that allow airflow.
What I have learned
Looking back at the 15 weeks of Design build - 5 weeks of design process, CDs and the permitting process and then 10 weeks for construction- I wouldn’t change a thing. We learned so much about how things work in the real world. How beautiful a weld can be and how to achieve that, the tectonics of a wall section and why the materials matter. We learned to work in an incredibly tight budget with many recycled materials. Design Build at Louisiana Tech was my first real taste of construction and I cannot wait to do it again!
Design Build Studio 335 was incredibly hard work but through it all we managed to keep a smile on our faces and I find myself missing the immense opportunity to give back. MedCamps of Louisiana is a special needs camp focusing on giving a summer camp opportunity to those who normally may not have one. Going back and seeing it in use with the campers also is such a powerful experience. Knowing that I have made a difference in such a physical way calls me to more and to do it again.

The Platform 2
First Quarter 4th year
The platform is meant to be as open as possible, in this section you can better understand the grand atrium space as well as the relation to the loving spaces taken from Corbusier.
FLOOR PLANS
one step further:
I believe that before you can see the micro you musty first look at the macro. Rather than just checking the box of public transit, in this project that main idea centered around the investigation of the surrounding areas of Dallas as well and integrate Dallas’ Racial Equity Plan (or REP) by revolutionizing the train system in order to better benefit the communities with the most need. The thought was that id Dallas was spending billions of dollars to construct a transit hub, it could invest millions over the next 50 years benefiting their underprivileged areas. Moreover this revitalization of impoverished communities will spark an uptick in property value allowing for a better standard of living. By updating the Dallas Area Rapid Transit system (DART for short) this project not only functions better due to practicality but also is able to serve better through a more expanded network as well as a more diligent network, intended for the betterment of Dallas’ residents.
okay, cool, why this one?
The platform is a space designed for community. Planned community gatherings, impromptu Saturday strolls or even a quick trip over to Houston for the day. By integrating so much program into one project you are able to have a grocery store, library, office space, full gym, farmers market, ESL classrooms, tax assistance, retail shopping, and some of the best restaurants for any budget all at the ease and convince of on your daily commute from work. How can a place like the platform not call to you? The Platform serves as a beacon of what the would could look like if we are only ready to climb up to it.
“the platform” Is named due to the 3 different train platforms on site as well as the 150 lofted residential units

Museum
third Quarter 2nd year
the program
Spring Quarter of Sophomore year, as a class we were tasked with creating a new form of art museum, catered to a heightened sensory Experience. Located in the Fort Worth Botanical gardens, the site is currently being used as a boardwalk to Educate people about Invasive and native plant Species. The building is to have a natural light gallery as well as a artificial light Gallery for more fragile Pieces. Along with the public spaces, it must account for four offices, and two conference rooms.
First Floor Second Floor
Some Context
This is the first time that I have used the rendering program, Lumion. Looking back it is incredible to see how far I have come in a year. We are students are learning how to learn these programs. It is why I was able to learn Revit by myself, it is why things like Midjourny and AI come naturally to me. I feel confident that in a years time I will look back at my current projects and say the same - we are learning at an exponential rate and I am excited to see what comes next.
The space visually
The dark gallery, seen above, and the light gallery, see on the chapter page, are meant to call out the dichotomy between the benefits and harms of light. In plan, the Light gallery is the only thing on the second floor, letting the light galley be something to be ascended to.
The light Gallery
This roofing model is based off of Renzo Piano’s edition to the Kimbell Art Museum. The screen on the top of the light gallery is meant to capture northern light with the corten steel louvers. There is a frosted glass sheet and then a tightly woven plastic mesh.
