Alex Lowe graduated from SCAD in 2024 majoring in furniture design and also is planning on attending grad school in the future. From a young age, Alex always found love in the arts. He was always doodling random characters from shows he loved and this transformed into a fondness for drawing real people when he started attending high school After graduating, he knew that he wanted to pursue some form of art in his career and decided to follow in the footsteps of his parents and enter the world of furniture.
Alex likes to pride himself on putting as much joy and fun as he can into the projects he works on. Alex loves the phrase “jack of all trades”, but he also believes you can be a master of all not just one. He likes to take inspiration from a lot of things for his furniture, especially pop culture and the radical design movement of the 70s. These projects have a wide range of specialties that include woodworking, upholstery, jewelry, accessory design, home decor, and drawing.

The objective of this brief is to create a dining armchair piece that would fit into the West Elm brand, yet still display my personal aesthetic. The chair needs to be neutral enough to fit in multiple environments and should have a leg stretcher to provide more structural support.
