Sparkle (2015) was written for the 5th Grade Beginning Band at Lincoln School of Science & Technology in Canon City, CO. While the composition is minimalistic in development, the individual elements are challenging for students with less than one year of experience. The melodic content is all pentatonic and the rhythmic material is all based upon what can be learned in Essential Elements 2000 Book 1.
