What is UNICEF known for?

The world's largest provider of vaccines, they support child health and nutrition, safe water and sanitation, quality education and skill building, HIV prevention and treatment for mothers and babies, and the protection of children and adolescents from violence and exploitation. UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories to save children's lives, to defend their rights, and to help them fulfil their potential, from early childhood through adolescence.

March of Dimes mission is to lead the fight for the health of all moms and babies and goals to end the preventable maternal health risks and deaths, end preventable preterm birth and infant death, and close the health equity gap. They focus on critical issues affecting moms and babies from prematurity and health equity to maternal and infant mortality and morbidity.

Children's Miracle Network Hospitals raises funds and awareness for 170 member hospitals that provide 32 million treatments each year to kids across the U.S. and Canada. Donations stay local to fund critical treatments and healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment and charitable care.

785 million people on our planet do not have access to safe, clean drinking water. Every 21 seconds a young death could be prevented with access to safe, clean water. The task of collecting water tends to fall on women and children between the ages of eight and 13. As a result, women are often unable to get jobs or contribute financially to their households.

April Highlights

In the month of April we participated in two events. I'm glad to say that one of them was the ARC style show. We had an absolute blast being a part of this experience. Arc style show is an event where people with disabilities are able to be models and walk down a stage and be introduced to the crowd. Their dresses, shoes, and makeup are all paid by sponsors. Key Club helped by making sure everyone was dressed, tending people to their needs like fetching water, and also making sure all the participants were in the proper order for the show. Overall this experience was one of the best ones I've had while serving in key Club!

During the Exygon event our members were helping tend to all the different activity areas. Two of our members participated in running on the treadmill activity. This activity consisted of people running on the treadmill and for every mile ran, you would raise $1.
