Welcome Back!

Hi Crafters! I hope you are enjoying the last days of Spring and you are already ready to receive the Summer. We will have our famous seasonal Scrapbooking Crop on Friday July 5th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. We will be meeting in Alderwood Elementary School gym. Don´t forget to bring any project you want to work on or any ideas about something you would like to start, but haven´t had enough time to do. Anybody can give you any suggestions and you may start that project that you have been dreaming on. It doesn´t matter if you don´t have a specific idea, the most important is having fun.

We highly recommend bringing your own papers and other material, such as inks or markers.

However, we will have some tools that you can borrow, like scissors, paper trimmers or scoring mats.

Also, we will have a Cricut and a Silhouette machine that we can all share.

We will have coffee and cookies

donated by The Woods, but you are welcome if you want to bring your own refreshments.

Just remember that some of our crafters can be allergic to peanuts, then we recommend not to bring any food that can contains any kind of peanuts.

Don’t forget to tell a friend to help our Bellingham Scrapbooking Community to get bigger. We also want to remind you that we will participate in the Arts & Crafts Festival on June 15 and 16 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM in Bellingham Downtown.

We will have a booth where you can come and talk to us about your new projects. Come to say hi. We will have some giveaways if you answer some of our trivia questions.

Presents for Mom & Dad May already started and on the 12th, we will celebrate Mother’s Day. If you haven´t planned anything for your mom or even if you just want to have a great time, we are excited to announce that we are getting ready for our Mother´s Day Cardmaking Workshop on Friday May 10th from 3:00 to 5:00 PM in the Alderwood Elementary School Cafeteria. The cost of attending this event is only 35 dollars.

The price will cover the material to create three different cards as well as you will learn three different techniques that will help

you next time that you want to create a card. We suggest you wearing an apron or some clothes you don´t like so much because we will be using paint and ink. We will have some snacks, like crackers and cheese, but you can always bring your own food.

But, if what you want is to create something for your husband to celebrate Father´s Day, we will have our 10 Quick Presents for Father´s Day on June 13th from 4:00 to 6:00 PM in the Alderwood Elementary School Cafeteria. The place can handle up to 200 people.

You can pay in cash, with credit or debit card or with check.

Many of the ideas that our art instructor will be teaching are so simple that you can let your kids to create something themselves, like photo frames, scrapbooking pages or keychains. The price for this workshop is only 25 dollars and it will cover the cost of the materials, such as paper, glue, paint, ink, fabric and markers. We will have some food and drinks donated by one of our sponsors.

If you mention you read this article, you can get a 20% off out of any of the workshops. Also, if you enroll in both workshops, you will pay only 50 dollars. This promotion is limited to the first 20 people who sign up. This is the fourth year in a row we have both workshops and that makes us so happy. We want that coming to these events become a tradition in your family.

Crochet or Knitting?

Are you interested in learning how to knit a scarf?

Do you know that around 12 knitters meet every week to work in different projects from a simple

coaster to a blanket? Come join them and create your first scarf. You will learn the basic stitches and you will be able to make scarves for everybody in the family. No more cold bodies!

You can start getting ready for your Christmas presents after learning different techniques and how to combine the stitches to get different finishes. If you don`t know what material to buy, don´t worry, we have some yarn leftovers that we can share along with some needles.

If you feel you are not a knitter, how about trying crochet? You can create beanies in less than an hour, or work in a long-term project, like a blanket. The options are endless.

Both meetings are free, you only need to bring material in case you want to use something in special and interest to learn from the experts.

We have people coming from all kind of expertise levels. We can learn from each other.

Join us and meet a lot of people with the same interest of learning more about crochet and knitting. You will not regret attending these meetings. If you don’t know what you want to create, don’t worry, our instructors have a lot of patterns and they are more than willing to share them.

alterations business became important during the last decade?

Due to the increase in the number of people recycling and upcycling objects, more persons prefer to adapt their own clothes than buying new ones.

Maybe you had a baby and you recover your shape, now it is time to fix those pants that you liked a lot. Aren’t your clothes fitting you anymore? Maybe you can alter them and being able to wear them again. Or maybe you can start your new business altering others’ clothes.

It doesn’t matter what your purpose is. We can help you to learn that. One of instructors will be teaching a Simple Sewing Alterations class on July 12th, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. No experience needed. In two hours, you will learn how to make invisible stitches, different types of hems, add a zipper and reduce or increase the size of your clothes. This class is free, and you don’t have to bring any material. We will use some old clothes to practice. The location hasn’t been determined because we need access to a place with sewing machines. However, if you are interested, you can contact Mary Jackson at mjackson@gmail.com or by phone at (360) 354-8768. Due to the limitations of the place, we might need to accept only 20 people. However, we will create a waiting list in case someone can’t make it.

How about your kids? Would you like them to learn something before summer break? In May 25th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, we will have a workshop for the little ones. On this day, we will create five simple projects with paper, glue, scissors, markers and some buttons. The price for this class is 20 dollars and it will cover the price of the material and the instructions for making each project. Your kids can bring their projects home.

We will provide a small lunch for your kids,

including a sandwich, a fruit and bottle water, However, you can bring any food you want your kid to eat. Please don’t send your children with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches because some kids may have an allergy. Parents have to stay during the class and help the kids when needed.

More Workshops On June 6th from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, we will have a workshop to teach how to customize your towels or any other piece of fabric with crossstitching. You will learn how to follow a pattern and how to create monograms. This project can be a good present for a couple who is about to get married or someone who is celebrating a birthday or anniversary. This class is totally free, and you don’t need to bring any material. Only come to the class and make more connections with people with the same interests.

Don’t forget that we also have Scrapbooking for Beginners. You don’t need to have any experience. Only bring an idea and we will help you to put it together. You won’t need material because we will use real scrap paper and other embellishments. This event will be held on May 18th from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. On June 21st, our quilting experts are meeting, and you are invited. Maybe you only want to learn something totally different. Join us and have fun. The event will be held in Alderwood Elementary School cafeteria.

And for the last, but not the least, on June 28th at 5:00 PM, we will have our famous instructor Marla teaching us how to choose good yarn and how to create and color your own yarn. Come join us to learn how the hair of the animals changes the feeling of the yarn. This event is totally free and will be held in the Alderwood Elementary School cafeteria. Wear something old or bring an apron because the coloring process can be messy.
