SLOPE HOUSE 2nd GRADE, HOUSING DESIGN

The Slope Hosue is an early project of a mansion designed for an architect and his/her family.

The unique site location determines the form of the building. It gently climbs the slope. My early inspiration were works of Frank Lloyd Wright- an architecture integrated with nature.

The floor plan anticipates an architecture studio and technical rooms on the groundfloor. This arrangement enables a division between the working part, with a possibility of receiving clients, and a family part.

At this stage I was fascinated how Peter Zumthor, in his book „Thinking Architecture�, glorfies the nature and put it first in the hierarchy. He writes about the harmony between materials and landscapeits kind, topography, humid soil... about the beaty of aging of the building in the context of nature. I was, and still am, considering the building as a sculpture growing out of landscape, which should not overshadow it but ought to celebrate it.

SUSTAINABLE DISTRICT 4th GRADE, DIPLOMA PROJECT, IN PROGRESS

The designed sustainable district Brueland in norwegian town of Sandnes is a trial of taking up an issue of the city of the future. It is an attempt to find a solution, how in information era, increasing social inequalities, growing overpopulation and less and less resources can we build the world in a way that future generations could continue our work and enjoy prosperous life we lead today. I believe, that we, as architects, should be aware of world challenges and feel responsible for the developement of districts, cities, countries, our planet and recently the solar system. The consiousness plays here a crucial role.Experiments are needed for the developement to occur. Nowadays such experiments can be carried out mainly in most developed countries. Very often, a new idea to flourish, has to start its journey as an elite product. A perfect example may be a Tesla Motors car company led by a visionary engineer Elon Musk, whose plans are not only to

revolutionize global automotive market, but also to minimize the CO2 emission (SolarCity Co.) and settle Mars (Space X Co.). The new product of a Tesla car is beeing brought in the dominated automobile market, at the beginning as a product reachable only for the wealthiest, slowly hitting the middle class, to end up on beeing a readily available good.

At present, the only european country with a unconstrained infrastructure for Tesla Cars is Norway.

Changing the means of transport for totally sustainable requires developing a new infrastructure of charging points.

Creating right nets of infrastructure is a key to solve future global issues. Saying 'infrustructure' I do not only mean transport and energy management, but also a net of public spaces and its nimpact on human relations and culture respect. [fragment of bachelor diploma project]

1. Brueland

uwagę jej miękkość, twardość, temperatura, faktura, różnorodność. Wykonana została z materiałów ceglanych z powodu tradycji, lokalności materiału i dużej akumulacji cieplnej materiału.

Potrzeby parkingowe zapewniają podziemne hale garażowe. Dostęp do hal zapewniają niezależne zjazdy. Istnieje możliwość budowy parkingu podziemnego osobno dla każdego modułu lub parkingów wspólnych (w zależności od podziału etapów budowy). Planowany obiekt wymaga głębokich wykopów pod hale garażowe. Ściany hal garażowych przebiegają również na granicy działki planowanej inwestycji.

Las ciągnący się przez całą długość działki stanowi NOWE CENTRUM bufor pomiędzy torowiskiem, a zabudową i przestrzeniami publicznymi.

Projektowane przeze mnie założenie urbanistyczne Brueland w norweskim mieście Sandnes jest próbą podjęcia zagadnienia miasta przyszłości. To próba odnalezienia odpowiedzi jak w erze informacji, rosnących nierówności społecznych, globalnego ocieplenia, postępującego przeludnienia, kończących się surowców budować świat, tak by przyszłe generacje mogły nadal kontynuować nasze dzieło i cieszyć się dostatkiem jakim my cieszymy się dzisiaj. Uważam, że jako architekci powinniSTARE MIASTO śmy być świadomi światowych wyzwań i czuć się odpowiedzialni za rozwój osiedli, miast, państw, planety, a ostatnio także i układu słonecznego. Świadomość odgrywa tutaj kluczową rolę.

Przedmiotem opracowania jest zagospodarowanie terenu lokalizacji Brueland w norweskim mieście Sandnes Ambicją projektu jest stworzenie samowystarczalnej energetycznie jednostki urbanistycznej, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem terenów zielonych, wykorzystania materiałów 25m lokalnych, dobrej komunikacji z resztą miasta Sandnes oraz przestrzeni wewnętrznych przyczyniających się do wytworzenia wspólnoty między mieszkańcami.

Układ przestrzenny założenia wynika z uwarunkowań lokalnych i ekologicznych. . Skala obiektów nawiązuje do istniejących na sąsiednich działkach budynków mieszkalnych, usługo35m wych i użyteczności publicznej oraz dominant urbanistycznych na skalę miasta Sandnes. Architektura budynków utrzymana jest w duchu tradycji skandynawskich .Unikatowe położenie działki nasuwa na myśl, że projektowane założenie jako całość powinno mieć charakter bramy miasta oraz stanowić zauważalną formę w tkance miejskiej. Program funkcjonalny zakłada budynki mieszkalne, usługowe i użytkeczności publicznej.

Przestrzeń zaprojektowana została w sposób sprzyjający rozwojowi handlu i usług o charakterze lokalnym i ponadlokalnym Podział działki na moduły umożliwia dalszy rozwój inwestycji i wykorzystanie terenu przez różnych inwestorów przy poszanowaniu i przestrzeganiu wytycznych programowych.

Światło słoneczne jest jednym z najważyniejszych czynników kształtujących miasto. Przykładowo ustawienie ulic na osi wschód-zachód pozwala słońcu głębiej penetrować przestrzeń między budynkami. Ma to kluczowe znaczenie dla jakości przestrzeni publicznych.

W procesie projektowym zastosowano analizy promieniowanie słonecznego i zacienienia przy wykorzystaniu technologii informacyjnych.

Dzisiejsze narzędzia technologii informacyjnych pozwaNISKA ZABUDOWA/MIESZKALNE lają na rozwinięcie projektów bardziej odpowiedzialnych energetycznie. 40-50 % zużycia energii budynku zdeterminowana jest jego projektem,WYŻSZA dlatego tak ważne jest by profesjonalne ZABUDOWA/PRZEMYSŁOWE analizy towarzaszyły jego rozwojowi już od wczesnej fazy koncepcyjnej.

Jeszcze większą koniecznością staje się wiedza o technologiach, materiałach, świetle dziennym, geometrii, fizyce budowli i rozwiązaniach systemowych.

Wykorzystane przeze mnie oprogramowanie firmy Robert McNeel and Associates Rhinoceros/Grasshoper pozwala h=30 m na generację modeli 3d oraz ich analizę.

Plug-in Ladybug dla Grasshopper importuje pliki EnergyPlus i wyposaża model w interaktywne diagramy pogodowe odpowiednie dla danego regionu świata (w analizach przyjąłem dane dla Sztokholmu gdyż leży on na tej samej wysokości geograficznej co Sandnes).

Przeprowadzone przeze mnie analizy promieniowania słonecznego oraz zacienienia pozwliły mi lepiej umiejscowić i ukształtować budynki. Analzując wykresy 3d można określić w którym miejscu człowiek w przestrzeni publicznej będzie czuł się najlepiej; jak rozgospodarować obiekty małej architektury i zieleń. Czytając wykresy natężenia promieniowania można w bardziej świadomy sposób sposób ustalić odpowiednie kąty dachów oraz umiejscowaenie paneli fotowoltaicznych.

Dizałka podzielona została na 8 modułów o szerokościach 60m i 40m. Projekt zakłada rozwój założenia w kilku etapach. Istnieje możliwość rozdzielenia poszczególnych działek między różnych inwestorów.

Im bliżej centrum miasta tym funkcja budynków i przestrzeni staje się bardziej publiczna. Część południowa działki przeznaczona jest pod zabudowę mieszkaniową, która koresponduje z istniejącą zabudową domów jednorodzinnych Wysokość budynków założenia wzrasta w stronę centru miasta Sandnes. Gwarantuje to dobre nasłonecznienie budynków i przestrzeni.

Wieżowiec usytuowany w północno wschodniej części działki stanowi silną dominantę oraz formę bramy do miasta.

Idąc w poprowadzonym przez działkę deptakiem nasz wzrok podąża za liniami zabudowy i kończy się właśnie na nim. Jego usytuowanie po wschodniej części działki nie jest przypadkowe.

Idąc od południowego krańca założenia w stronę centrum na jego fasadzie widoczne jest odbijające się słońce, które świeci zza pleców przechodnia- przy takim równoległym do kierunku patrzenia oświetleniu barwność obrazu jest największa. Starałem się zaprojektować układ w taki sposób by wieżowiec ów był widoczny z każdego wnętrza urbanistycznego. (pola martwe- Elementy kompozycji urbanistycznej, K.Wejchert). Miejsce to powinno nadawać założeniu wyjątkowy charakter, stać się z czasem znakiem w przestrzeni. Podążając z kolei w stronę od centrum wyznaczającą kierunek dominantą jest istniejący już blok zabudowy wielorodzinnej (leży w łuku punktów sylwetowych- i całe szczęście- patrzymy na niego pod światło). Te 2 wieże miałyby szansę nabrać znaczenie symboliczne, gdzie jedna to początek nowej filozofii ekologicznej a druga pozostałość architektury XX w.

Wyjątkowe położenie działki, pomiędzy torami kolejowymi, a ruchliwą trasą wjazdu do miasta wymaga odpowiednich rozwiązań akustycznych. Budynki powinny stanowić barierę dźwiękową dla wnętrz urbanistycznych. Od strony zachodniej ze względu warunki zabudowy (budynki w odległości min. 20 m od traktu kolejowego) wytworzona zostaje strefa buforowa. Od strony wschodniej barierę mogą stanowić przezroczysteParkekrany akustyczne lub szklarnie zintegrowane z budynkami.

Moduły podzielone zostaly na wnetrza urbanistyczne i połączone zostały deptakiem na całej długości działki. Każdy moduł oddziela od siebie uliczka- zwarte moduły tną krajobrazpo jednej stronie linię lasu- po drugiej ulicę Hovevein.

Zakłada wytworzenie urozmaiconej osi wrażeń w pasażu wewnętrznym- każde z wnętrz urbanistycznych powinno mieć swój unikatowy charakter.

Szlak pieszy stanąwiący kręgosłup dla całego założenia stanowi ważny element kompozycji. Zdając sobię sprawę że „płaszczyzna podłogi urbanistycznej widoczna jest w wielkich skrótach perspektywicznych” (z powodu wysokości wzroku człowieka na poziomie 1,5 m), powinna zostać zaprojektowana w szczególnie staranny sposób. Powinna zostać wzięta pod

z materiałów o wysokiej zdolności do akumulacji ciepła. Materiały ceglane w jakie obfituje region pochłaniają ciepło i wypromieniowują przy obniżonej temperaturze otoczenia.

Ważnym aspektem w kształtowaniu przestrzeni jest głębokość traktów użytkowych. Przykładowo, w warunkach polskich przyjmuje się, że światło słoneczne padające z kierunku południowego, aby zapewnić dogodne warunki bytowe, jest w stanie wniknąć do pomieszczeń na głębokość ok 6m. Z tego powodu wskazane jest projektowanie budynków o płytkich traktach użytkowych, ze zwróceniem szczególnej uwagi na projekt elewacji w celu uniknięcia nierównomiernego nagrzewanie się stref przeciwległych. h=40 m Zalecane jest również stosowanie atriów i półotwartych dziedzińców, które oprócz funkcji doświetlającej, spełniają rolę Centrum/Fiord naturalnego wentylatora poprzeczno- wyporowego (rozwiązaCentrum/Fiord nie stosowane już przez Palladia, Willa Capra Rotonda). Tworzą także przestrzenie o dużym stopniu prywatności.

Dworzec Dodatkowo dachy zielone, które jako powierzchnie ulegające silnemu nasłonecznieniu i dużej akumulacji cieplnej przyczyniają się do redukcji wzrostu temperatur na zewnątrz.

Zapobiegają powstawaniu tzw. wysp ciepła w mieście. W okresie grzewczym zapewnią dobrą izolację cieplną.

W projekcie zakłada się maksymalne wykorzystanie dachów płaskich na ogólnodostępne dachy, zielone wytworzenie wielopoziomowych przestrzeni publicznych, półpublicznych i Do szkoły prywatnych dzięki tarasowości budynków 25 m

5. Kolor w przestrzeni urbanistycznej Dzieki analizie nasłonecznienia można określić również główne kolor fasad budynków. The Jåttåvågen (Stavanger), which is now an old industrial area is going to be torn down and redeveloped to a completely new district. The whole city developement plan is going to be executed in long term phases. Municipality plan for the subsite of our concern encompasses housing and office buildings. We ended up with several possible scenarios of creating cosy space both for inhabitants and office workers.

The unique approach towards investor by letting him beeing literally part of a design team

can be an advantage over other competition participants. The developed project included a coherent overall landscape plan for greenstructure / open-air. Landscape plan established a main grip and main use within greenstructure, terrain forming, altitudes of terrain and design of transition between existing city structure and new designed area, lighting , surface walkways , squares, ramps and outdoor furniture.

The proposal includes a school and sportshal adding up to a total of 15-20.000 m². We've been working with a light frame on top of a multifunctional base with school, fitnesscenter, sportsarenas, rehabilitation center, cafÊs and much more. The heavy base makes the light frame hover and is suposed to be lit acording to the

ongoing events ranging from soccergames, concerts, ishockeymatches, horseshows etc.

We've had great help from sustainability department in Copenhagen to come up with inputs such as WDR (wind driven rain) - strategies to shape the roof, watermanagement, windbarriers. (HLA)

LĂ˜KKEVEIEN 99 LIGHTHOUSE HLA, APRIL 2014, WINNING PROPOSAL, COMPETITION, STAVANGER, NORWAY

The winning proposal for an office building in Stavanger. The flexible proposal consists of 10630 up to 20000 m2 of office and commercial space.

The form of the new building was designed in a way to respect and celebrate the historical building on the site. We did achieve a high flexibility in terms of use of the units, together with unifying the new and the old.

High emphasis on sustainability issues was a priority. Double glazed facade with automatic curtains

was planned to achieve the highest daylight control. The facade, the shape and interior natural raw materials are in a strong relation to the context of the site. The designed architectural object and the space around it are meant to attract people and constitute a landmark in the city landscape.

KRTSANISI PARK RESIDENCE

HLA, JULY 2014, WINNING PROPOSAL, INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

The site on Krtsanisi Street in Tbilisi is unique in its natural features and landscape; the new development must be approached gently in order to preserve and showcase these qualities.

Each building type is designed with its own concept, maintaining individual characteristics.

Wood is used as the predominant material, bringing the houses into harmony with their surroundings. A strategy of minimizing different materials is applied, which more seamlessly incorporates the

buildings into the site and the natural wooded environment.

The wood on the facades can be designed in many ways, creating a variation in detailing from house to house and maintaining the theme of individuality. Each building has a simple construction system that makes the space planning easily adjustable for future development and changing resident needs.

MODERN KHMER HOUSE

3rd GRADE, CAMBODIAN SUSTAINABLE HOUSING COMPETITION, GB

Modern Khmer House is an example of an ideal house for Cambodian families.. Almost a whole house is built with cheap, durable and natural material - bamboo. Due to the lack of main building material (despite the perfect climate conditions for its growth), our group suggested to begin cultivation (industrialization) of bamboo in the area. This solutions works well in other Asian countries for example China, Japan and Thailand. Establishment of bamboo plantations would provide jobs in the region and bamboo surplus could be exported outside of Asia. Such an idea could stimulate and develop the economy of the country.

Cambodian people are suffering from a limited access to clean water. Shape of the building is designed in a way to solve this problem.

The slope of the roof is directed to the center of the building in order to gather rainwater on an ongoing basis to be used in the household. Such a solution could have a positive influence on health of the inhabitants and promote safe living spaces.

Natural ventilation, funcional arragement and “umbrella effect� influence comfort and healthy interior climate.

HOTEL INSOMNIA 3rd GRADE, COMMERCIAL BUILDING DESIGN

Hotel Insomnia is a project of a 3-stars academic hotel. A main assumption of the concept was to create a green passage in a city centre space, which could serve both hotel guests and Poznan inhabitants. The space between the north facade of the building and existing backyards is a walking route connecting the Bernardynski square with Mostowa street.

The space thanks to its cosiness and greenery is a perfect place to rest in a shade and eat a meal in the hotel restaurant. The building was pulled back to the maximum from the mentioned backyards to not overshadow them.

Additionally, the facility contains fitness center with saunas and massage rooms. Two conference halls were designed; one large for business meet-

In the Insomnia hotel, there are several kinds of accomodation units. In the west part, units with higher standard were designed. Their furnishings include a special workplace.

The building design provides for use of ecological materials. The building facade is a double glass facade with a shading sysem inside. It ensures thermal comfort throughout a year. What is more, the green ventilated green roof influences the percent of biologically active surface of the site.

RATAJE SPORTS ARENA 3rd GRADE, RECREATIONAL FACILITIES DESIGN

The designed sports arena in Rataje district, next to Assumption of Mary church, is an answer for a deficit of greenery and recreational areas in this part of the city. The main inspiration was nature and the designed wild park, which could change the character of the modernistic neighbourhood and its inhabitants’ approach towards green virtues.

The form of the building was created by a wooden core surrounded by a glass facade.

Through its formal means, the object fits in the new forest and its context. An important point of

the landscape is a church. In order to respect the sacrum sphere, the greenery of the park thins the closer it comes to the temple, to finally become an empty square- silent field of grass. Additionally, the arena deals as a wall- an entrance gate to the park.

Besides SPA and exterior sport pitches, a year-long available ice rink was designed at the roof of the facility. The main services, as restaurant, open up towards the park to intensify the contacy with nature

VITAMIN GREEN PROJECT 3rd GRADE, COMMERCIAL BUILDING DESIGN

The main idea behind the Vitamin Green Project was a humanization of modernistic neighbourhood. The concept introduces a business model for its inhabitants. The vertical farming facility is beeing used by inhabitants to produce food both for they own use and for sale. Sheep barn and its infrastructure attract tourists and deal as wool factory for unique eco sweater designs. The sheep bred by aging part of community could have marking rings, so that the customers could know out of which particular sheep his piece of clothing was made.

The floorplan anticipates meeting point with common kitchen for local community, laboratory, fashion designer studio and backrooms for all functions.

The building should help the locals to meet each other, find ultimate solutions for aging generation revival and give oppurtunity to exchange knowledge among people.

This unique concept is a trial of finding new business models in order to make amends to inhabitants for modernism mistakes.

STAWNA HOUSING 2nd GRADE, HOUSING DESIGN

The building is located between Wroniecka and Zydowska street in Poznan. The form of the building is designed in a way to fit in the old city centre character. Additionally, the goal was to creat a original background for the New Synagogue building standing right next to the site. The section of the facade harmonizes with the the adjacent tenements.

The facade system used consists mainly of double glazed facade with remote controlled shading between the glass layers.

The rest remaining part of the facade is covered with aluminium panels.

Flats in different price segments were designed. Part of them were equipped with roof gardens. The whole complex together with its courtyard should be a green island in the oldtown tissue.

The communication is solved by 3 main stairwells with elevators. The whole building was adjusted to disabled people.

There is an entrance to the underground parking from the Zydowska street side.

The fire road was led through the inner courtyard, further to existing backyards.

COCOON INSTALLATION ART

Cocoon installation art is a parametrically designed sculpture made in the faculty of law building on Adam Mickiewicz University request.

The main goal was to change the atmosphere of the space by using contrasting materials and light. The installation changes its face in different part of a day, delivering various visual

experiences. We played a lot with different materials to end up with stretch foil, which gave the unique space crystalization effect.

The sculpture was a part of conference cycle organized by law students association.

FLYING LOTUS 3rd GRADE, FURNITURE DESIGN

Flying Lotus is an armchair made out of one piece of 100x50 mattress foam.

During the concept phase the material was stretched into variety of complex shapes to end up with the simplest possible solution giving the maximum strength in the back area. The material tension enables to lean freely. After finding the final armchair form, a subtle metal frame was fitted in the shape to support the seat.
