Sveta Nedelya Square Urban Design International Competition

The most significant project of my AI Architects’ period was participation in an international competition for the reconstruction of the historical center of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. The reconstruction provided for the preservation of the cultural and spatial identity of the place, but at the same time, the square was to acquire new public functions aimed at year-round use. The AI Architects took 2nd prize, while the distinguished Fuksas Studio won the competition.

As a Junior Architect, I worked with the project graphics and the creation of analytical diagrams and maps. During this project, I improved my skills in site analysis using the QGIS application.

Zarechny Quarter Master Plan and Facade Concept Solutions

During my two years working in the International Projects Department of the Apex Project Bureau, I took part in a variety of projects covering a wide range of typologies - from large residential complexes to the revitalization of cultural heritage sites.

Some of our projects have been developed jointly with leading foreign practices such as David Chipperfield Architects and SimpsonHaugh.

Among the projects of this period, I would like to highlight the project of the Zarechny Quarter residential complex. In this project, I had the opportunity to fully demonstrate my professional skills with the highest degree of independence. My participation covered the master plan concept, volumetric and facade concept solutions, and interior design for lobbies. The building has been under construction since 2022.

Khalitova 4 Design Development of the Residential Complex

The project of a comfort-class residential complex in Kazan was designed for the primary Russian developer. I participated in various design stages: Pre-Design, Schematic Design, and Design Development. Construction on the building began in 2023.

My responsibilities included site analysis, master plan concept, volumetric and facade solutions, apartment layouts, and detailed drawings.

It was crucial to ensure an exact percentage of apartments based on size and configuration and to meet the insolation requirements. To achieve these goals, I utilized corporate Dynamo and Grasshopper plugins for the calculations.

Methodology & Educational Platform

As a lead of production and methodology, I developed the Mereal Architectural Standards (MAST) and implemented it within teams. I also noted effective practices in working teams and spread them throughout the company. The Mereal method is new to the market of architectural and construction services. Therefore, before starting work, each candidate is trained on the Mereal educational platform. The main content of this platform is MAST.

Cost estimate

The main budgeting principle is decomposition, dividing budget into more detailed expenses. The cost estimating process begins in the first week of design, ensuring that the budget is effectively managed.

The result

Architectural solutions are verified for budget and schedule adherence, ensuring accurate visualizations for the client.

Sports architecture has always been my greatest passion. I devoted my master’s thesis to the study of stadiums.

The stadium has always been the most iconic building in the city. Multifunctionality and hybridity are becoming a paramount issue for modern stadiums. The concept is to create a contextual hybrid stadium which, thanks to a large number of additional features, would be interesting not only for fans but for local residents and tourists.

Future development

The basis of the stadium is a football field 68x105m and stands for 30,000 spectators.

Due to new functions, the stadium becomes interesting for different users, especially families.

The stadium follows the principles of green design and becomes a self-sustaining ecosystem.

The stadium is connected to the city by modern transport, such as Hyperloop.

The stadium is decommissioned. The central space becomes a botanical garden.

Spaces for holding e-sports competitions are located along the perimeter of the field.

Any event can be viewed in the arena in the form of a holographic projection.

Spectator seats are no longer static. Moving flying capsules appear.

My bachelor’s diploma reflects what is the key for me in architecture

— a meaningful idea embedded in the concept. Architecture doesn’t make sense without an idea.

The tunnel is one of the most important architectural units of the Mexican-American border. The tunnel is the usual way to enter the United States, not only for smugglers but also for many asylum seekers.

El Túnel Legal is a prototype of what the tunnel of the future should be like. Protecting, adapting, and helping. Passing through such «tunnels», people enter the path of legal entry into the US, leading to a law-abiding life.
