Sleek Summit

Timeless Modern Design with Breathtaking Art, Texture, and Sophisticated Neutrals

This neutral living space features a custom sectional from Minotti, tailored to encourage conversation and entertaining with the room’s open-concept design. The fireplace boasts a striking custom beveled bronze metal firebox surround with a raked plaster face that extends up to the second level, making for a dramatic effect visible from the rec room above. Flanking the opposite wall is a grand art piece by Jane Puylagarde commissioned specifically for the room, flown in from Paris and installed over two days, providing balance and making a textural statement in the room.

The client desired a sleek and modern aesthetic, achieved with dark cabinetry that creates a bold, contemporary look. Counter stools from Thomas Hayes and a simple, yet stunning kitchen island light from Roll and Hill add elegance and sophistication, perfectly complementing the space. The light marble countertops provide a striking contrast to the moody cabinetry, offering a balanced and refined visual appeal.

The bar features a smoked mirror that extends wall to wall, creating a sultry ambiance while highlighting the Lindsey Adelman chandelier and the plaster-inspired wall covering by Gregorius Pineo. The bold leathered slab adds an extra layer of texture, enhancing the overall sophistication and visual interest of the space.

In this rec room, layered textures create a rich, inviting atmosphere, grounded by a Marc Phillips rug that anchors the space. The designer selected a Minotti sectional with a relaxed profile covered in plush chenille fabric for creating a warm spot to melt into. A dark wall covering behind the TV creates a seamless backdrop, allowing the room’s elegant textures and comfortable furnishings to take center stage. Additionally, the large reclaimed wood built-in features a small bar area with soft lighting and pocket doors that can be closed to conceal the space.

In this contemporary bunk room with Western roots, the client envisioned a sophisticated space with a rich tonal pairing of wood and wallcoverings. A modern take on classic plaid and herringbone layer into this monochromatic moment to offer an inviting guest experience with moody flair.

Then & Now: Après-Ski Culture

A Deep Dive into Fashion, Food, and Winter Destinations

Fashion

Après-ski fashion has evolved from its early days of wool sweaters and tailored ski pants in bold colors to a focus on sleek, high-performance fabrics that prioritize warmth and breathability. Recently, there has been a resurgence of vintage-inspired ski style, offering a nostalgic nod to the past reminiscent of a Slim Aarons photo. Current runway fashion has focused on state-of-the-art textiles that still pay homage to classic elements and motifs. Fun, patterned attire has also become popular, allowing skiers to express their personal style both on and off the slopes.

Food

Food is central in Après-ski culture and has transitioned from hearty, traditional Alpine fare like fondue and raclette, intended to warm skiers up, to a diverse and gourmet culinary experience. Today’s après-ski menus feature a range of options, from farm-to-table dishes and health-conscious choices to international street foods and artisanal offerings. This evolution reflects broader food trends, emphasizing both innovative flavors and sustainability while still honoring classic ski comfort foods.

The Keys to Cozy Living Spaces

Adding that Extra Layer of Comfort to Your Home

Designing with jewel tones infuses a space with timeless charm while embracing rich, vibrant color. The soothing effects of deeper hues, like rich reds and sophisticated blues, create a sense of depth and tranquility, enhancing a room’s elegance and warmth.

Smaller spaces naturally feel more intimate but thoughtful planning of these spaces for function and comfort is key. By prioritizing both practicality and relaxation, you can create a space that feels welcoming. In this primary bedroom, we adore the layering of pieces such as the beautiful burlwood dresser that provides additional storage and a pillowy bench to curl up in front of the fire.

Thoughtful arrangement of texture and pattern can enhance the coziness of a space. This chic patterned rug and geometric sectional play off of each other to create a fun atmosphere and the perfect corner to sink into and relax. The layering of fabrics throughout the room enrich the space’s aesthetic and ambiance to entertain and lounge. The arrangement of comfortable seating makes it an area where everyone can gather and feel at home.

Contrasting tones and thoughtfully procured mood lighting are another way to create a warm setting. In this media room, soft lighting casts a soft glow against the dark wall covering and deep tones in the rug and upholstery. Rich green pairs with neutrals and texture to create a cozy yet impactful space that enhances the lounging experience. The muraled walls add depth and visual intrigue, making the small space feel both intimate and immersive for entertainment.

A living space with curated combinations of soft fabrics creates comfortable seating perfect for conversation, where plush fur and sherpa in soothing creams pair with natural wood tones for additional texture. This setting is brought to life with pops of color in the art, adding personality while maintaining an overall light and airy atmosphere.

Deep colors and dark tones can introduce calming energy into a space. Rich green high lacquer paneled walls and cabinetry infuse this library with a sense of refinement and depth. This luxurious backdrop beautifully frames a cozy reading corner for enjoying a good book.

Bringing in elements that are rich in history can bring character and charm to a home. We love the combination of old and new in this rec room where modern furnishings set against a rustic structure work together to tell a story. The historical details of this gorgeous reclaimed ceiling, ground the space, warming it up with a sense of heritage.

Blending design with natural elements creates a seamless living experience. This outdoor patio becomes an intimate escape by incorporating warmth through soft textiles and organic touches that blend effortlessly with the natural elements. Through thoughtfully arranged seating areas, this space invites relaxation and connection.
