Crystal selections for January and February 2022

Also known as “Fool’s Gold” as it was sometimes mistaken for gold.

Pyrite is found in large quantities mainly in coal mines and near clay quarries. Do not cleanse with water. Pyrite is a mineral of physical grounding, feminine and masculine, nature and nurture, which is especially good for us at this time of year after all the festivities, celebrations, travelling, gatherings and indulgences the previous month of December can bring us.

Pyrite is also especially good for keeping you safe, protected and strengthens the connection to your etheric cord while astral travelling and during your dream incubation time of deep rest and restoration of the mind, body, and spirit and will bring you back quickly and safely when needed. This is due to it being a lighter grounding stone as opposed to the dense very heavy grounding effects emitted from galena. Use pyrite between your feet when meditating or at the base chakra for grounding purposes when doing spiritual work especially out of body practices and as a tool for aura shielding. Pyrite can also be placed on any joints or sprains to relieve aches and pains.

Imbolc / Oimelc (Candlemas) - 2nd February 2022 As the wheel of the year turns again, we find ourselves at Imbolc: Pronounced: “EE-Molc” and celebrated on the 1st or 2nd of February, It is also known as Candlemas, or St Brigid's Day (pronounced BREED).

The words Imbolc or Oimelc means ewe’s milk, and it is one of the Celtic four quarter "Fire Festivals”, celebrating the seasonal rebirth of the Crone Goddess to her Maiden aspect Brigid as she brings in the first signs of spring stirring deep within the earth that has lain dormant over the winter months past and still yet to come. The Snowdrops and crocus start to push up from the frozen ground, and the welcome return of the Sun God brings with him the longer daylight hours.

This festival commemorates the successful passing of winter and the beginning of fertility, new life and the agricultural year.

The Celtic Goddess Brigid whose name is also spelt Bride, Brighde, Bridie, Bree-je and Brigit, was born the daughter of Goddess Danu: of the Tuatha Dé Danann. and chief of the Gods: The Dagda.

Brigid was and still is known as a Triple Goddess Maiden, Mother, Crone of great healing powers, fire, and the sacred wells with healing waters across the land, she was the patron of healers, poets, smiths, childbirth, children, inspiration, her name means "exalted one".

It is said that Bridget's flame was taken care of by nineteen virgin priestesses at her sacred altar in Kildare. And on every 20th day Bridget herself would be present to tend the sacred flame. In 1993 the Perpetual flame of Bridget was relit by Nun Mary Teresa Cullen, Leader of the Bridgine Sisters and in 2005 a sculpture was built in the town square of Kildare to house the flame which still burns today.

Some Imbolc activities I love to do, and you can create to celebrate this season are to make Bridie dolls, eyes, and crosses, imbuing them with all your hopes, dreams, good and happy memories as you sew or weave them.

Co-create ceremonies in honour of Bridie, welcoming her into your homes, speaking poetry to her. Go to her sacred places and pour libations of ewe’s milk, offering prayers of healing for ourselves and our families. Bake some Blessed Bride's Cake, a Honey Cake, or some Imbolc Moon Cookies to share with family and friends.

London has a church dedicated to Brigid which has a sacred well, however it has since been covered up and is under the foundations of the church itself now, but worth a visit if you are in the area.

It is also a good time for initiations, be they into new groups or communities, activities, or self-initiations.

Tune in to the energies of Imbolc, that of rebirth and renewal, and take time to think and dream of the new projects and activities you want to achieve and grow.

Imbolc holds the energies of excitement, innocence, inspiration, hope, fresh starts, and healing anything from childhood, embracing your inner child by doing or remembering the joyful and happy things of your childhood.

Bespoke Crystal Chairs The story of the Dragon chair (shown in the photos) This chair was commissioned by a wonderful family in Hampshire. The wood used to create it used to be bannisters at a sports centre which were then utilised as a fireplace surround in a kitchen 15 years ago and again used to create this lovely chair. Waste not want not!

We felt a beautiful dragon theme would work well for this family.

Dragon energy is gentle and highly empowering. The crystals used were Amethyst, Opal, Ghost Eye Imperial Jasper, Dragon Vein Agate Blue, Aventurine Quartz, Yellow Jade, Agate Orange, Kambaba Jasper, Dragon Blood Jasper, Dragon Vein Agate Dark Blue.

All the crystals with our intentions were infused into the chair as it was being created. This chair excudes calmness, peace, spiritual expansion, protection, emotional and physical balance, courage and strength. ​ ell "the proof is in the pudding" as they say. As soon as the chair was W in place, next to the fireplace, the family's Bengali cat was immediately drawn to the big energy field around it. Cats are spiritual beings and are drawn to higher realms and vibrations. They connect to people and items that match their own energy.

Ritual for Letting Go There are many reasons why we need to let things go from our lives that no longer serve us. Sometimes it is as simple as phoning up and cancelling a service that is no longer needed or going through our bank statements to see what we are spending money on that we no longer use, or in fact, probably signed up for on a whim and have never used.

Clearing things like this is really good for our soul and energetically. It removes blockages and clears away stale energy. Clearing out your wardrobes and/or getting rid of clutter in the home all have the same effect of clearing away stale energy and making your environment a much nicer place to be. Start your 2022 with clear intentions.

These are practical, physical solutions, however, what happens when you need to clear space in your mind. You have unwelcomed and unhelpful thoughts, guilt, resentment, anger for example. These feelings will drag down your mood, feed anxiety and dull your day to day experiences.

They will make your energy listless and dull, this, in turn, can attract more negative energy and thoughts and the whole process can sometimes swing out of control and lead you to feel moments of fear, despair and just generally out of sorts.

A great, and simple way I have found to deal with such issues is to do a letting go ritual. This is very easy, can be done practically anywhere, although outdoors is probably best and is very quick, effective and cathartic.

You will need - paper and pen - candle - fire proof container (fire pit or similar)

Make sure that you are in a safe place and will not be disturbed. It may be best to do this outside or somewhere that you can burn a piece of paper safely without fear of having an accident!

Firstly, work out exactly what it is that you wish to let go of and what you would like to have in its place. Importantly, you will need to replace the thoughts or feelings with something else. Just leaving a void is no good to anyone and can actually allow other negative thoughts to fill it.

If you are unsure, simply wish to let go of sadness and replace that with peace. Sometimes when we get ourselves in a complete pickle it can not be easy to think of what we want so, if this is you, just opt for the replacing emotion to be peace or even contentment.

Next, write down the things you wish to let go of. It can be just one thing or many. Take your time to make sure that you have thought about how you would feel if these situations were resolved or the things you are letting go of are gone.

Once you are ready, concentrate on what you wish to replace the things you are letting go with, if you do not know then simply imagine yourself being surrounded by rose-pink or golden light and feeling calm and at peace.

As you start to visualise this new feeling, light your candle and holding the piece of paper with your list of things and carefully light the corner of the piece of paper, placing it in you safe place to burn down to nothing.

As it is burning recite these words: The list that here I’ve written down I wish to no more weigh me down You may leave me now and go And cause me not a single woe Instead my heart is filled with peace As all these things I now release Let the candle safely burn down to complete the ritual. Give thanks to which ever deity feels appropriate to you.

Mediumship and channelling - 10 tips to get your connection !

In my many years of doing the work that I do, I am often asked the same question repeatedly? How do you connect to spirit?

For me, I have always had an innate connection that sits beyond the mind. The mind is the biggest barrier to connection with higher energies. Often people tend to over think and over analyse what I believe is a very natural process of listening beyond the boundaries of PERCEPTION. We are constantly bombarded with illusionary cues and prompts from the world we live in. Being told that connection beyond the mind is paranormal, other worldly or to some satanic, places this block to consciousness, that many are fearful to challenge. The world at the moment is built on material possessions and a very narrow band of view of consciousness.

We must open up all of our sight and intuition to experience the full flow of our existence. We can only see 0.1 percent of our universe, so why are we so willing to accept the conservative narrative that there is nothing beyond ourselves?

There is EVERYTHING beyond ourselves. Religious texts and codices are littered with experiential information about connection to other realms, angelic for instance. I am sometimes challenged by the religious sect over what I do, my answer to them is always the same, I say “do you believe in God?“ the unequivocal answer is always strongly resonated to my impudence to even ask “Of course” they say, “Prove it“ I say.

I believe in God, but I believe in a God that is omnipresent for ALL, and that we can have connection to that willingly and easily, if we allow ourselves to fully immerse within the knowledge that the universe and the consciousness is infinite possibility, it takes that question who is entitled to have this information, to the collective.

I believe that mediumship and psychic awareness is just about tapping into the higher frequencies that the mind cannot control. So many people say to me, that they have a knowing thought, and they then dismiss it and allow the information to be distorted by the conscious mind, this then loses its accuracy.

Technology and the way of life for all of us is not conducive to natural communication, with ourselves, spirit or even the earth we live on. We are utterly disconnected to our primal and instinctiveness, and the simple matter is, it is purely about reasserting that connection to these, that help facilitate channel and mediumship. We ALL have the ability. Time to switch off the mind!

Therein lies the issue people face, we are allowed to have faith in religion, without any proof other than allegorical texts and bibles, but cannot possibly have faith in communication beyond the grave. It seems like a very inconvenient truth to accept faith in one context, but deny it in another?

I do not call myself a medium, however in most of my readings I will connect to people from my clients past that have crossed over, or higher or evolved spirits connected to their spiritual ascension.

My ten tips for you all to be able to either start your psychic connection or enhance it 1. Stop allowing your mind to take control, trust your GUT! 2. Meditate to help the conscious mind to let go.

3. RESEARCH a lot of different spiritual principles, knowledge is key!

4. Take yourself away from media or social media each day, it is toxic to our connection.

5. RELAX and do not pressure your connection.

Psychic ability is not about perfection of information, but about the connection ITSELF. 6. Take self-responsibility for the information you do get, not every message received is meant to be given.

7. Have fun and do not take it so seriously, life is meant to hold joy not frustration.

8. READ a lot, books and knowledge are a great way to enhance your passion for this topic.

9. Try to understand that your life right now, is just one of many lifetimes you have had, or will continue to have. Energy never dies.

10. Link to like minded people, who will not dent your progress with their beliefs. (many people stop accelerating their knowledge and gifts, because of ridicule of others.

This life we have now is just a micro experience of what the totality of our existence is, so go and experience as much as you can.

Try not to placate others who do not understand or mock it. This is YOUR path in life, do not let anyone dull your spirit.

IN AWE OF EARTH'S BEAUTY

Many years ago, I visited Mount Bromo in East Java, Indonesia. It is an active volcano with a large caldera. With my fellow travellers, I walked across the caldera and hiked up the rim on the other side. It was very early morning and still an hour until the sun would rise. The morning was surprisingly chilly, and people wore scarves and gloves.

People were talking, making jokes, smoking cigarettes and listening to music. The caldera below us was filled with a misty cloud. There was a smell of sulphur in the air. Some more people arrived and there was now a line of visitors standing along the rim.

We were a mix of travellers, photographers, guides, pilgrims and local people. I felt a strong belonging to this spontaneously formed community of people of mixed nationality, ethnicity and religion. We were there to share the same experience and in that moment, we were equal, we were brothers and sisters.

Then the dark sky began to show the beginnings of a soft glow. Some of the pre-dawn light made the cloud in the caldera look like a milky soup.

People stopped talking, cigarettes were put out, music ended.

A massive arc of soft light were beginning to form over the Eastern horizon. Mountains in the distance stood out like shades of gigantic guardians.

The arc of light transformed into the top half of a disc of increasing glow. Some of the people around me began to cry.

My own eyes became filled with tears. All of us felt as if we were standing on top of the world, watching the very first sunrise.

The cloud in the caldera became alive with movement; writhing and pulsating as if it was a breathing essence of misty life.

Then the intensity of direct sunlight burst upon us as the golden disc of the sun ascended above the horizon. Great fingers of light travelled across the mountains to reach us. The caldera rapidly came into focus and visibility, as the milky haze within it quickly dissolved. I saw horses, donkeys and jeeps waiting to bring back visitors who did not wish to cross the caldera on foot. The newly risen sun was bathing me in warmth and I removed my scarf and gloves. People around me were hugging each other, some were softly singing and reciting mantras, many had tears in their eyes.

The sun had kept its promise and risen to bring us the essence of life, to warm us, to embrace us with love.

These days, when I read about climate change, the political debate and the struggle to agree on a path forward, I often think about that night and early morning on Eastern Java many years ago, as I and the people around me, my momentary family, experienced a repetition of the first day of a new world. And how tears ran down our faces in awe, in respect and in love of the beauty of the world, of this planet; where we all live together. And the memory brings me fresh tears of melancholy, of happiness and of hope.

Let us realize that we are family, just like I and the people on Mount Bromo, and that we should join hands in a common effort to allow the sun to return every morning with renewed life. As we give our promises for that effort, we enable the sun to keep its promise.

'Initiations' (also known as attunements) are given into Reyad Sekh Em by placing these sacred symbols*, as part of a special sequence of empowering symbols, into the aura at specific chakra points. FREE-WILL V CONTROL

Free will is the ability to choose between different possible courses of action without hindrance from an authority. Therefore choice and the ability to choose is a fundamental concept within free will.

Lack of choice is linked to the concept of separation of the soul from spirit.

In this context, we will consider that the soul is regarded as the 'spirit within', and it is this that enables us to experience joy, enthusiasm, and other compatible emotions, that on a human level constitutes the feeling of being happy. In effect, lack of choice equals lack of joy and happiness.

extensive. The concept (from a marketing perspective) is that the more choice that is offered, the more likely we are to make a purchase, from that particular establishment, and the more likely we are to be happy.

If we are separated from spirit (in this context the higher self/wisdom, and where knowledge resides) then we feel sadness, gloom, misery and disconnection from reality.

The inability to be free-willed is closely linked to the concepts of moral responsibility (that is - what we are told we must be responsible for),

guilt,

sin,

and

other

judgements which supposedly only apply to actions that are freely chosen.

Control by an authority is connected with the concepts of advice, persuasion, deliberation, and prohibition, and hence the limitation of the ability to choose.

In kinesiological terms this ‘ability to choose’, and the resolution of specific blockages, often caused by past events, is the subject of therapy sessions.

Ancient Greek philosophy conceived that free will is the capacity to make choices in which the outcome has not been determined by past events.

However, determinism suggests that both the past and the future are fixed, and manifests itself in our psyche as the position from which all human behaviour results. It suggests that only one course of events is possible, hence choice becomes extremely limited.

Determination therefore suggests that we are automatically disallowed choice, as our free will is already determined. The argument here is that if we are 'determined', then we limit our own choice, or our ability to choose. This can happen internally or externally - that is within our soul, as internal conflict, or influence from outside.

So, being 'determined' is not aligned with free will! It is an action, either mental or physical, that is driven by control, or the need to be 'in control'.

I would suggest that fear means that we allow ourselves to be driven by determination, and therefore we limit our choice.

Therefore, fear and rage control our choices. The soul therefore cannot experience joy if these two emotions are prevalent.

Both fear and rage affect the hypothalamus, which controls our temperature, hormone balance, circadian rhythms (sleep/wake cycle), digestion and endocrine function. On a human level a fully functioning hypothalamus is desirable, as it makes us literally 'feel human'.

Of course,'feeling human’ is false reality. So we are back to the concept that if we 'feel human' then we are not experiencing true joy or freedom. We are not being allowed to be ‘free-spirited’.

The hypothalamus is our control centre, the gland that allows us to be controlled by 'alien' energies (in this context any energy that is not aligned with Universal Truth).

The argument here then becomes 'do we experience being human for our souls benefit' (as we are often told by gurus and so called 'wise men') or is the 'human experience' for the amusement of others?

HAND POSITIONS TO HELP ENERGY FLOW

Our mudra journey continues with the Gyan or Jnana mudra (above photo). This hand gesture is most commonly used in meditation and yoga.

Gyan is the Sanskrit word for 'wisdom'. This mudra is used for connection to your mind - for concentration and focus. Excellent to alleviate stress. Next time you do any kind of meditation, hold your hands in this position, keep your back straight and see what happens!

Vishuddha mudra (above photo) is where fingers are interlaced and thumbs are touching. Vishuddha means 'purity' in sanskrit. and connects to the throat chakra. This mudra works particularly well when combined with a chant (Aum).

Prithvi mudra (middle right photo) works with the body. Prithvi is the Sanskrit word for 'Earth'.

This hand gesture helps to strengthen the body, muscles and tendons, bones and nails.

As this mudra is associated with the throat chakra, it helps to balance the function of the thyroid glands, ease neck aches, headaches, and coughing.

Vishuddha enhances clarity in mind and connection to your heart - it helps you to see the truth within, to learn about what is your own truth and to honour your higher self.

Adi mudra (bottom right photo) helps to quieten the mind and ease breathing expanding lung capacity if used while doing breathing exercises. Adi in Sanskrit means 'first'. It is great to initiate any kind of practice, yoga or meditation. Holding this mudra balances your nervous system

Simple Yoga poses to build your practice

Be mindful and check online for contraindications before practicing

Classic downward facing dog Adho Mukha Svanasana

Downward dog pose is powerful and strengthening. The more often you do it, the more you want to do it and the better you feel! Avoid if you have carpal tunnel, pregnant or suffering with high blood pressure.

1. Come onto all fours. Place your hands slightly in front of your shoulders and make sure your knees are lined up with your hips. The key point here is to flatten your hands so that the outside of your palms are rooted to the ground. Toes should be turned under.

2. As you breathe out, straighten your legs. Make sure to keep your knees slightly bent and your heels off the floor as you first go into this pose. Key points to look out for is that you are trying to lengthen your tailbone, moving it away from the back of your pelvis, pulling your sitting bones upwards towards the ceiling, tightening and pulling your inner legs up through your groins.

3. As you breathe out, push the top of your thighs backwards and gently stretch your heels toward the floor. You will find that you can start to straighten your knees.

4. Your outer arms should be tight. Activate your index fingers by pressing down on the floor. Tightening your shoulder blades and energetically moving them towards your tailbone.

5. Ensure your chin is tucked in and your head is fairly relaxed in line with your upper arms.

6. Stay in the pose for at least 10 breath cycles, then bend your knees and lower yourself back onto all fours.

1. Lying face down, tops of feet on the floor, place your hands under your shoulders, keep your shoulders tight to your body.

2. Firmly push down into the ground the tops of your feet, thighs and your pelvic area.

3. Breathe in and expand out your chest and lift upwards.

Not too high. Keep your shoulders down and relax your body.

4. Hold for approx 15 - 30 seconds as long as you can breathe into the pose easily.

5. Breathe out and gently lower yourself down.

A great full body activation pose bringing in a warrior energy. It looks simple, but when you do it properly it takes strength to hold.

1. From downward dog, step your right foot forward and wiggle your foot forwards until they are in line with your fingertips. Point your right foot slightly to the right.

2. Keep your right knee bent at approx 90deg, so your thigh is parallel to the ground. Make sure your knee is over your ankle and not in front of it. Ensure your right outer hip is pushed back.

3. Keeping the ball of your foot touching the ground, turn your left heel in and up (see the image on the left).

4. Align your left heel with your right heel, widening the stance for more stability, if required.

5. As you breathe in, lift yourself up as you reach upwards with your arms, hands shoulder-distance apart and palms facing each other. Keep your shoulders down, shoulder blades open and push away from your spine.

6. Push your tailbone towards the floor, keep your abdomen area tight and activated. Keep your hips facing forward. Allow space in your lower back.

7. Hold for approx 10 breaths and the release your hands down and step back into downward dog.

8. Repeart on the other side.

Flourless Satsuma Cake Lots of satsumas and clementines leftover from Christmas? This recipe is absolutely delicious and really easy to make! As we all know satsumas are a good source of vitamin C, so they will help build your immune system against common colds. They are also anti-oxidants and may help to reduce high blood pressure and cholesterol.

Almonds contain fibre, magnesium, vitamin E, zinc, calcium and protein - and furthermore, the fat is healthy unsaturated fat.

If you want to make a vegan version, just replace the eggs with a vegan egg powder substitute (ready-made from a health shop or supermarket) or use a couple of smashed up bananas.

Have on it's own or serve with vegan ice-cream.

Ingredients 4-5 satsumas or clementines 175g ground almonds 4 eggs 140g brown sugar 2 lemons (unwaxed) zest 2tsp baking powder 0.25tsp sea salt

Steps 1. After washing the satsumas in hot water, place them into a pot of boiling water and simmer for approx 45 mins. Take them out of the hot water and once cooled, remove the peel and pips. Break them up with a fork or potato masher.

2. Set oven to 190deg C. 3. In a large mixing bowl add the eggs, sugar, lemon zest and beat together.

4. Fold in the ground almonds, baking powder and sea salt. Once mixed in, add the satsumas.

5. Place the mix into a cake tin. Use a grease-proof paper or lightly grease and flour the base.

6. Bake for approx 45mins.

Banana Bread Bringing in the New Year with something healthy and delicious! Bananas contain fibre, potassium, folate, and antioxidants, such as vitamin C, so they are great for your health.

There is no added sugar in this recipe, so although it is not really sweet, it has enough sweetness to satiate any sugary cravings and offers a balanced and healthy snack.

Ingredients 2.5 cups of gf flour 3tbsp rice flour 1tbsp baking powder 1.25tsp baking soda 0.25tsp salt 1tsp vanilla powder 0.25 tsp ground cinnamon 0.25tsp ground nutmeg 0.5 cup soy milk 0.5 cup grapeseed oil Optional serving suggestion 200g vegan soy yoghurt, with a squeeze of lemon

Steps 1. Preheat oven 180degC (350degF).

2. In a large bowl add the flour, rice flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, vanilla powder, cinnamon and nutmeg and mix together.

3. In another bowl, peel and mash the four bananas with a fork, adding the soy milk and grapeseed oil.

4. Stir dry ingredients with the wet ingredients until all combines and there are no lumps.

5. Grease a loaf tin and dust finely with some gf flour.

6. Put the mixture into the loaf tin and bake in the centre of the oven for between 50-60 minutes. Test with a skewer, if the skewer comes out clean, the bread is ready.

7. Once cooled, serve with a dollop of soy yoghurt/lemon cream.

HOW TO EMBRACE CHANGE IN THE WORKPLACE (3 HACKS!) SUE PENNEY, PENNEY'S ACCOUNTANCY LTD

Embracing change is the secret to business growth. It allows us to learn how to do things better and to adapt to survive (which is an essential skill in today’s economy).

But this is easier said than done, right?

We like our comfort zones – they are comfortable after all - and it’s really difficult to step out of them.

Then, not only that, but we have to help our employees bust out of their comfort zones too.

If you want to move your business forward, here is how to embrace change in the workplace and how to get your team to get behind it too.

You need the right mindset first, so you can lead by example.

You won’t be able to implement a change if you’re not behind it yourself, so take some time to embrace it first. What are the positives that will come from this change? Why is it needed? What will you and your team get out of this change? Re-frame this in your mind, and you’ll be far more effective in embracing and then leading this change.

You need to communicate this change to your support team.

The worst thing you can do is spring change on your team and not communicate what it really means.

You want to implement change in your business successfully and your team is a major key player in that, so you really need to communicate this in the right way.

To avoid resistance from your team, make sure to: Communicate changes that are happening as early as possible (NOT at the point where it needs to be implemented).

Involve the right people in the process as early as possible (they have valuable insight and need to be the ‘champions’ of this change).

Share the overall vision with the team (your team needs to understand how this all links together and having a shared purpose increases the chance of success).

Communicate “what’s in it for me?” for every team member, not just how it will help the business (reward is a massive motivator so help your team get personally invested).

Provide them with sufficient training and support (how do you need to support them to implement the change successfully?)

You need to nurture the right habits and behaviours in the long term When times get tough and things are going wrong, this is when your team will revert to old behaviours and habits and how things were done before. To avoid this, start nurturing the right behaviours now by working on resilience and wellbeing. This will help to make sure that the change is a long term one.

Try implementing one or more of these strategies: Rewards – take your team out for lunch or give them the afternoon off if they need motivation.

Check-ins – have monthly 1:1s to make sure each team member has what they need to succeed.

Good habits – encourage self-care among your team, especially everyone getting enough sleep, exercise, good food and recharge time.

Mindset – help your team reframe their thinking if they are struggling and lead by example.

Nurture initiative – if team members need help, don’t solve their problems straight away. Ask the right questions to guide them to the answer. This will help them start to identify and initiate change to improve working practices themselves too!
