Welcome to Albertus Magnus College, founded by the Dominican Sisters of Peace who named the College after the Dominican Saint Albert the Great. Saint Albert was a life-long learner, teacher and pastoral leader. He embodied the holistic learning provided today by Albertus Magnus College, which is grounded in the four pillars of the Dominican tradition: Study, Prayer, Community and Service.

So why did we name a vibrant, forwardthinking college after someone who taught nearly eight hundred years ago? Because he was amazing. And he would have fit right in. He believed in knowledge and its transformative power. He dedicated his life to the idea that science and religion could exist peacefully side by side. Today, that idea still sparks lively debate, just as it did in the 13th century. The foundation of academia as we know it started then. He was the Dominican bishop, scholar, and humanist Albertus Magnus, or Albert the Great. Considered by many to be the greatest theologian and philosopher of medieval Germany, his writings filled thirty-eight volumes, and ranged in subject matter from astronomy to zoology. As both a learner and a teacher, he was systematic, disciplined, logical, and tireless. Our College is proud to trace its roots back to the tradition of devoted study and scholarship that he embodied.
