Project > Raining Shelter-Fire Aid Space. Location > San Jose, Cristo Rey-Sagrada Familia
This Project is intended as a component within a master plan for a slum in San JosĂŠ called Gracias a Dios. It's a joyful place that provides shelter, while the weather clears up and the rain (common thing in Costa Rica) travels around the project.. Plus, it is intended to be used as a hydrant, (to harbor water in case of a fire hazard) on the slump .

Schematic Design Business Center is located in Barrio Escalante, on the high end , east area of San José, Costa Rica. Conceived as a work space development, this 36 story building concentrates all the activities for the day a day need of the working person. Food courts, high end restaurants, gymnasium, parking spaces, and various office distributions are the basic features. It also provides a data-center, valet parking spaces, and at top, the classic“rooftop lounge”for an after office time; bringing a view with no precedents on the East-Side of San Jose city.

Schematic Design Empowering fishermen by educating them over new techniques, giving them facilities to harvest, pack and recycle waste are part the intentions of this project. The basic spatial concept is to elevate the faรงade on the main entrance, to integrate what is mainly a recreational space (dinning + various playing areas) to the mangrove right in front of it. On top there are educational spaces plus all the administrative area. On the flip side of the project, is the industrial packing building with a boat maintenance hangar.

Mix used building market targeted to mid income households. The project is a diagram seeking to answer the question:“What is like to live in a mid-density area on a vertical development for the Costa Rican people?� Located between Barrio Carit and Cristo Rey, the building`s intension is to reactivate commercial, and living relationships between the city and the neighborhood. Privacy level for the owners, public transportation relationship, passive ventilation and solar orientations are part of the strategy on the design.

Within the Urban space, public transportation is a key factor in the way the city is conceived and lived. Both recreational and work spaces are (on an urban space) facilitated by the interconnection of the different means of transportation. This project draws both the entanglement between different public transportation system (Bus, train, trolley and cabs systems) and between the commerce surrounding them. The strategy was to reduce as much as possible the footprint of the project by sectioning the different systems on modules with same structural complexity. Leading to a reduction of ground movements on site , and an increase of the possibilities for expansion generated by future needs.

The second floor, intends to connect the different modules, create commerce within the project space, and give support to the different users allocated in there. Each module responds to its context by providing an activity where both context and concept reinforce each other. Project > BBQ Renovation Location > Curridabat, Granadilla
The project consists in the expansion of the main entrance for a residential house, and the renovation of a terrace into a BBQ/Social area. The strategy was to recycle as much as possible from the old terrace while increasing the planting area within the house. Inserting green features within the social space was“a must”for the owner of the project. Another feature was the integration of plastic extruded sections, used as part of the floor expantion; giving a highly durable recycled, and recyclable finish to the project´s most exposed part to wheather.

In front of a Golf Course, cover by pine trees, the house takes its social activity at the backyard; without forgetting the esthetic remark a main façade of a house, in a high end residential area, should have. The BBQ looks over a big front yard over the east façade, taking a bit of the social experience to“cover”the house. Inside, the kitchen is mark as a central area from which the hole first floor is in“control”. A highlight for the owner who takes the family time at the kitchen, but also has two kids that run around and should be whatch.
