Individuals who contributed to Albany Technical College’s success and will be dearly missed as we move forward. They were a part of our family and their efforts to the college and our students will never be forgotten.

Information Systems Instructor

April 5, 1960 - September 26, 2022

Recent Albany Technical College retiree, Tim Edwards, passed away Monday, September 26. Mr. Edwards was employed with ATC for over 20 years as a Computer Information Systems Technology (CIST) instructor.

A life-long sports enthusiast, he attended Georgia Southwestern on a baseball scholarship and graduated with a degree in Computer Science. He was an avid sports official and refereed football and basketball at the high school and college levels. He also umpired baseball at the high school, college, and semi-pro levels as well as the 1994 Olympic trials. He enjoyed all sports, but was especially fond of college football and a devoted fan of the University of Georgia Bulldogs.

Survivors include his wife, Marla Rawlins Edwards of Shellman, GA; his daughter, Alli Edwards of Albany GA, his sons; Sawyer Timothy Edwards of Atlanta, GA; and Trent (Caitlyn) Taylor of Smyrna, GA; his sister Bunny (Ronald) Wright of Perry, GA; his brothers Hal (Kitty) Edwards of Dothan, AL; and John (Lisa) Edwards of Unadilla, GA; and his grandson, Olsen.

Atc And Turner Job Corps Center Sign Mou

On August 5, Albany Technical College and Turner Job Corps Center signed a formal Memorandum of Understanding, establishing a three-year agreement that would begin in Fall 2022. The purpose of the agreement is to provide coordinated services for students at Turner Job Corps Center to receive Advanced Career Training courses leading to certificates, diplomas, or Associate Degrees. Turner Job Corp officials outlined student enrollment, including but not limited to Culinary Arts, Criminal Justice, Healthcare Office Assistant, Office Administration, Electrical, Welding, Horticulture, Masonry, Carpentry, and Certified Construction Worker courses.

“This agreement provides opportunity and joint oversight of students enrolled at TJCC participating in Advance Career Training on the Turner JCC campus and any of the ATC campuses. We are happy to team up with Albany Tech to provide educational opportunities for our students," said Nathaniel Cooper, Center Director, Turner Job Corps Center.
