Pre-Ballet with Nona

Music and Dance Music Together Music Together provides a family music experience.

It’s fun, fabulous, uplifting and magical. Each week in Music Together classrooms worldwide, babies, toddlers, preschoolers, big kids and the grown-ups who love them gather to make music as a community.

A dancer since childhood and a dedicated ballet instructor engages young children to experience the joy of dancing through simple ballet steps and creative movement. They learn choreographed dance movements while learning to move to different music tempos, from slow to quick, small steps to big leaps. Finally, they get to do dance improvisation to exercise self-expression and practice creativity.

Ballet slippers or soft jazz shoes are recommended for this class.

Ballet for Kids with Nona

Ballet for Teens with Nona

A dancer since childhood and a dedicated instructor introduces children to the fundamentals of classical ballet, proper alignment, appropriate use of turnout, port de bras, and basic techniques of jumping and turning. They have fun learning and refining choreographed dance movements in the center and across the floor to different tempos, from adagio, petit allegro, and grand allegro.

A dancer since childhood and professionally trained with renowned ballet masters, the instructor teaches a special curriculum for teens to develop a dance foundation through classical ballet techniques and choreographed movements that they will practice and refine throughout the series. At the end of each series, each student will individually perform their own choreographed dance to music of their choice.

Ballet slippers or soft jazz shoes are recommended for this class.

STEM Exploration Kids n' Carpentry (Tuesdays) Kids n’ Carpentry teaches safe use of hand tools in a fun, hands-on environment. Children build their own wooden projects from scratch, gaining experience in physical engineering, applied math, problem-solving and patience.

Tennis Camp

Friendship Club Staff will host an action-packed Pokémon Camp where aspiring campers can learn gameplay, deck building, and strategy! Each day features fun challenges and friendly tournaments. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced player, this camp promises creativity, camaraderie, and plenty of Pokémon fun. Bring your favorite cards and get ready to battle!

Courts will be grouped by age and skill level, each with a dedicated coach and appropriate balls. Participants will enhance their movement and tennis abilities through engaging in movement drills, rallies, extensive ball hitting from the basket, and enjoy fun games to wrap up each day.

Friendship Club 2025–26 The City of Albany Friendship Club is a comprehensive program for children in 1st through 10th grade, offering a variety of enriching experiences curated by City staff. The program includes afterschool care, seasonal camps, and a Junior Counselor leadership program. Through these engaging opportunities, children build friendships, connect with their community, and grow in a supportive environment!

Afterschool Care (Grades 1–5)––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Friendship Club is a safe and welcoming afterschool program for children in 1st through 5th grade, serving Cornell, Marin and Ocean View Elementary Schools. Our curriculum is tailored to each child’s interests, providing opportunities for hands-on learning and exploration.

With a balance of indoor and outdoor activities, along with time for relaxation and homework, we ensure every child feels supported and engaged. At Friendship Club, we meet children where they are, fostering growth, confidence and a sense of belonging in a caring environment.

Junior Counselor Program (Grades 6–10)––––––––––––––––––––––– Calling all aspiring leaders! The Junior Counselor Program gives youth the chance to gain valuable leadership experience. Junior Counselors assist city staff with activities, projects and games, all while having a blast! This experience helps build teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills.

Each week children will do activities that include art, crafts, sensory play, engineering, group games and trips to the pool. Join us for one week or the whole summer and make lasting memories!

Simple Skewered Food Skewering is a simple and easy way to prepare food in advance. We will learn techniques for marinating, skewering, and cooking. We will prepare three skewered dishes, such as lemongrass chicken, assorted mushrooms and vegetables, and teriyaki unagi.

Senior Center Resources Paratransit Services East Bay Paratransit (EBP): EBP provides paratransit services for anyone who cannot use AC Transit or BART because of a disability. You must become ADA certi­fied to qualify for Paratransit Services.

Taxi Subsidy Program: Using Measure BB funds, Albany Paratransit provides a taxi ride subsidy to Albany residents 70 years and over and people with disabilities 18 years and over for qualifying rides. Reimbursements are subject to approval process.

Shopping Trips: The shuttle provides Albany residents 60 years and older door-to-door transpor­tation from home to nearby grocery stores. Funded by Measure BB.

Health Services HICAP Counseling: The Health Insurance Counseling & Advocacy Program (HICAP) provides free and objective information and counseling about Medicare. Volunteer counselors can help you understand your specific rights and health­care options.

CPR and First Aid Courses The Albany Fire Department partners with the American Safety & Health Institute to offer CPR and First Aid courses to the community.

Fee: $25 (registration is required at least 1 week prior to the start of the course) Location: Emergency Operations Center (between City Hall and Fire Station)

Albany CERT When emergencies such as earthquakes, wildfires, or other disasters happen, CERT-trained residents are prepared to help. Because emergency services personnel will not be able to help everyone immediately, you can use your CERT training to make a difference in your community.

Albany CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) has trained more than 300 individuals in vital emergency preparedness and response skills.

It is important for residents to step forward and learn these life-saving techniques to help keep our community resilient and prepared.

Program Sponsorship and Structure The Albany Fire Department sponsors the CERT Training, which is part of both the FEMA and Cal OES programs. There is no cost to participate in the training or for the specialized emergency gear provided during the course. CERT Training is offered in both English and Mandarin.
