Clay Stories to Art Adventures Camp: All in One!

Clay Stories to Art Adventures sparks creativity through clay, sculpture, painting and collage. Young artists explore clay sculpting through different themes such as animals and action figures. In the second half of the day, they’ll enjoy mixed-media art using techniques such as painting, collages and sculpture by making their own toys and games. Students craft imaginative toys and functional art, bringing home unique creations and photos that capture their artistic journey.

Fashion Sewing Camp - Sweatshirt

Learn to sew a custom hooded sweatshirt for the new school year! No experience needed, intermediate welcome. Kids n' Carpentry Camp

Kids n' Carpentry teaches children the safe use of hand tools in a fun environment. Kids build their own wooden projects from scratch, gaining experience in physical engineering, applied math, problem solving, and patience. The lessons, projects, and tools evolve with each student's individual pace. We build from a variety of project examples such as boats, trucks, bird feeders, doll furniture, spinning tops, airplanes, shelves, boxes, and much more.

Glee Club Camp: K-Pop Idols!

In this action-packed performance camp, students become part of a Demon-Hunter squad combining the style and energy of K-Pop with fantasy storytelling. Each day includes learning high-energy K-Pop songs from the movie, creating dynamic choreography, designing props and costume pieces, and preparing for a final showcase on the last day of camp. Perfect for kids who love singing, dancing, and fantasy, and want a chance to create their own unique performance world.

Improv and Theater Games Camp

During this camp, campers will learn to perform improvised scenes with ease using the basic concepts of comedy improv. Pre-Ballet with Nona

Taught by a dancer since childhood and a dedicated instructor, this class engages young children to experience the joy of dancing through simple ballet steps and creative movement. They learn choreographed dance steps to various tempos, ranging from slow to fast, including quick steps to giant leaps. Finally, they get to perform their own dance improvisation, exercising self-expression and creativity.

Ballet slippers or soft jazz shoes are recommended for this class.

Ballet for Kids with Nona

A dancer since childhood, the instructor introduces children to the fundamentals of classical ballet, including proper alignment, proper use of turnout, port de bras, and techniques of jumps and turns. They have fun learning choreographed dance steps to various tempos from adagio, petit allegro, and grand allegro.

Ballet for Teens with Nona

Professionally trained with renowned ballet masters, the instructor teaches a special curriculum for teens to develop a dance foundation through classical ballet techniques and choreographed movements that they will practice and refine throughout the series. Each student will perform their own choreographed dance to music of their own choice at the end of each series.

Write On! Creative Writing Labs Camp

Veteran Albany Middle School English teacher Abby Skrivan offers week-long intensive writing workshops for kids in a fun, supportive learning environment. Studentcentered writing exercises and games will help kids deepen their mastery of writing and foster close friendships. This unforgettable week will culminate in the publication of a bound “literary journal” of their best work. Students who attended in the summer of 2025 are encouraged to attend! Afterschool Care (Grades 1–5)

Friendship Club is a safe and welcoming afterschool program for children in 1st through 5th grade, serving Cornell, Marin and Ocean View Elementary Schools. Our curriculum is tailored to each child’s interests, providing opportunities for hands-on learning and exploration.

With a balance of indoor and outdoor activities, along with time for relaxation and homework, we ensure every child feels supported and engaged. At Friendship Club, we meet children where they are, fostering growth, confidence and a sense of belonging in a caring environment.

Applications will be available online in June for the 20262027 afterschool program year.

Hiking Trips

Walk, talk and be healthy! This is a program designed to encourage walking for adults 50+. Visit regional parks and other interesting, scenic places. Walks are usually 2 to 4 miles and are generally easy to moderate difficulty.

Keeping seniors active and engaged

The Albany Senior Center Community Shuttle takes adults age 50+ on walking tours and day trips and provides regular, free door-to-door grocery shopping trips for Albany residents age 60+. Registration is required for all programs.

The Albany Senior Center Community Shuttle is funded by Measure BB, administered by the Alameda County Transportation Commission.

Paratransit Services

East Bay Paratransit (EBP):

EBP provides paratransit services for anyone who cannot use AC Transit or BART because of a disability. You must become ADA certified to qualify for Paratransit Services. Call 510-287-5000 to make an appointment and get an application.

Taxi Subsidy Program:

Using Measure BB funds, Albany Paratransit provides a taxi ride subsidy to Albany residents 70 years and over and people with disabilities 18 years and over for qualifying rides. Reimbursements are subject to approval process.

Shopping Trips:

The shuttle provides Albany residents 60 years and older door-to-door transportation from home to nearby grocery stores. Funded by Measure BB.

Health Services

HICAP Counseling:

The Health Insurance Counseling & Advocacy Program (HICAP) provides free and objective information and counseling about Medicare. Volunteer counselors can help you understand your specific rights and healthcare options. Individual appointments can be made by calling 510-8390393.

The Albany Senior Center maintains up-to-date information on services available to seniors in Alameda County.

Technology One-On-One Help:

Free computer, phone or tablet tutoring is offered by knowledgeable volunteers and staff. Drop-in appointments are offered on Thursdays from 1–4 p.m. Call the Senior Center for more information.

Informational Presentations:

Presentations, discussions and fun events are held regularly at the Senior Center. Ask the front desk or look in the monthly program for more information and dates.

Nutrition Services

The Albany Tri-City Café:

Well-balanced lunches served at 12 p.m. Monday–Friday. Reserve a seat by calling the Senior Center.

Suggested donation: $4 for 60+.

Meals on Wheels:

Senior Center staff and volunteers deliver 7 meals per week to homebound seniors. Call the Senior Center for more information.

Suggested donation: $4 per meal.

Mercy Brown Bag Program:

Grocery bags of nutritional food for seniors on a fixed income are distributed on the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month. Registration is required.

$10 yearly contribution.

Albany Parks

Features: wide lawns, towering trees, two playgrounds, tennis courts, sports fields, picnic areas and restrooms.

Features: toddler playground, a larger play structure, a basketball area, picnic area, restrooms, tennis courts and a spacious grassy field.

Tennis and Pickleball Court Rental

Features: two play structures, including one fenced toddler area, walking paths and restrooms.

Features: sports field, picnic and BBQ areas within a redwood grove, tennis and pickleball courts, a playground, restrooms and Ocean View Community Organic Garden.

Tennis courts are located at Memorial, Terrace and Ocean View Parks.

Pickleball courts are located at Ocean View Park.

The courts are available on a first-come, first-served basis or by making reservations in advance.

National Night Out

This is the nation's night out against crime. Residents are encouraged to join with their neighbors to have a neighborhood block party, ice cream social or other outdoor event to build unity.

Call for Artists

The Albany Community Center Foyer Art Gallery is supported by the City of Albany and managed by the Albany Arts Committee. It is located in the foyer of the Albany Community Center and is open to the public whenever the building is open. The Gallery presents four shows per year; each show runs for approximately 3 months.

Painters, photographers, and mixed-media artists from Albany and surrounding areas are eligible to submit their work for consideration.

The Albany Arts Committee is accepting applications for the 2027 Community Center Foyer Gallery starting: April 1.
