― Anamika Mishra
Greetings from the Albany Public Schools Foundation!
I am hoping your March is off to a great start It is so wonderful to see the Daffodils and the Cherry Blossom trees ready to bloom
Last week we had the pleasure of hosting our first Lunch & Learn since 2019 It was so great to hear from our presenters, Sarah Castleton with Ivers & Miller Law office, and Chris Scariano with Edward Jones Sarah spoke to us about Estate Planning and the importance of being prepared and Chris shared the insights to the market in 2024 Our guests were treated to a delicious lunch prepared by award winning chef, Matt Bennett with Sybaris Janelle and Matt are supporters of the foundation and made us feel right at home We hope to offer another free Lunch & Learn in the Fall Watch this newsletter for more information later this year
iSwim is quickly approaching. This Saturday, March 9th, the Albany Community Pool will be filled with students who are there to help us raise money for our programs as well as win prizes for their school and classes. Thanks to our amazing community, we were able to raise enough money to sponsor 36 students to swim. We chose Waverly, South Shore, and Sunrise Elementary schools to have sponsored swimmers We hope next year to offer this to more schools If you would like to help, please contact us, or donate to our Sponsor a Swimmer and we will make it happen
Scholarships are OPEN! If you know a graduating senior in the Greater Albany Public School system, be sure to remind them that it is time to apply for one of our 141 scholarships We have over $230,000 00 to give away Thanks to our wonderful donors, we can help our youth fulfill their educational goals without the financial burden Do you still want to help our Albany Youth? We could use more funding for our Student Assistance Program. Students receive emotional and practical support from their mentor as well as a scholarship and a stipend for first-year essentials. Call me and let’s discuss how your donation will make a huge difference in a youth’s life.
Mark your calendars for our biggest fundraiser of the year! iCelebrate is September 28th Tickets go on sale April 1st Grab some friends and join us to help celebrate our 40th Anniversary of supporting the youth in Albany We are still looking for sponsors for this event, so please let me know if you would like sponsorship information.
BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND……. iRun will be returning March 15th, 2025! We are very excited to bring back our community’s favorite event More information to follow We are currently looking for sponsors, so please contact me if interested in supporting this very popular event
History Minute In honor of our 40th Anniversary, here is a look back in time The foundation used to have two fundraisers One of them we still do Any guesses?
A swim-a-thon, which we now call iSwim, and Celebration of Trees, which is now a very successful fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club of Albany
Thanks to all of you who help us support our youth
Enjoy these early spring days!
