Greetings from the Albany Public Schools Foundation!

Hard to believe, but January is already over, and we are gearing up for scholarship season! Thank you to all the donors, businesses and individual families who are donating to one of our 141 scholarships, totaling over $230,000.00 that we will be awarding this June. Our scholarship platform will open up on February 16th and close March 15th. Please be sure to share this exciting news with all graduating seniors in the Greater Albany Public Schools.

Coming up very quickly is our Lunch & Learn, sponsored by Edward Jones, Chris Scariano’s office. The event is on February 26th at Sybaris Bistro. Seating is limited and tables are filling up, so be sure to RSVP by February 16th. You won’t want to miss a wonderful lunch by award winning chef, Matt Bennett. Our guest speakers will share insight on planning for the future and what the market could potentially look like in 2024. Thank you Chris Scariano, with Edward Jones and Sarah Castleton, with Ivers & Miller Law for sharing your expertise with us. iSwim is right around the corner. On March 9th, we will welcome swimmers to our swim-a-thon for a morning of fun and a way to earn money for their school and our Classroom Grants Program. We are still taking donations to sponsor swimmers. Thanks to wonderful donors in our community and our board of directors, we currently have enough sponsorships to have 30 sponsored students in the pool. These students will be chosen by their teachers as children who might not have the means to gather pledges. Your donation of $40.00 will add one more to our number of swimmers.

In honor of our 40th anniversary, here is a little history……. Our current name isn’t what it was when we started 40 years ago. The original name was Albany Public School Foundation.

The “s” was added August 18th, 2004. If you wish to donate, leave a legacy with an endowment or sponsor one of our upcoming events, please contact me. Your support will make a big impact in our community.

Meet Our Newest Team Member Jorden Parrish - Marketing & Events Coordinator

Jorden joins us from the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce, where she worked for two years. She has previous experience as a librarian and a newspaper reporter. Jorden has a bachelors degree in Natural Resources from OSU, and is a graduate of West Albany High School.
