Summer greetings from the APSF!

It is hard to believe that the last month of summer is upon us Where did it go? I hope you all have made wonderful memories this summer with friends and family

We are busy getting our Peely’s Teacher Resource Center open by September 3rd We plan to open it up to K-3 grade classes first before expanding to other grades. We are super excited to open the center, so teachers have a place to turn for school supplies for their students when needed.

Thanks to our wonderful partners at the Albany Historic Carousel & Museum, Willamette Valley Bank, The Barn at Hickory Station and the Albany Regional Museum for helping us with our school supply drives. If you would like to donate school supplies, we have made it easy for you. Visit our website for a full list of items we can use or scroll to the bottom of the Peely’s page and click on the link to Amazon! Thanks again for your support!

iCelebrate is a little under two months away! Have you got your tickets yet? Invites are in the mail, so you don’t want to wait. We have some amazing items that will be in the silent and live auctions. If you can’t attend but want to support us, contact me and we will mention your name during the paddle raise We NEED your support This is the Foundation’s biggest fundraiser

iRun, a community favorite event, is returning March 15, 2025 Mark your calendars and start training for your first 5K (walking or running) or our 10-mile run The route is flat and will have beautiful views This is a super fun family event with the Little Leprechaun dash too! We are looking for sponsors for this event. Please reach out if you want to join in on this VERY popular event!!

There are so many wonderful things we do for the students and teachers in the Greater Albany Public Schools, but one of my favorites is awarding scholarships to graduating high school seniors. Our scholarships truly make a difference for these students.

Here are a few thank you notes that our donors and APSF received:

Thank you so much for this scholarship. I live with my aunt and uncle, and they aren’t able to help me with college, so this scholarship will truly help me pay for my education. I am so grateful for this because it will help me to focus more on getting my education, rather than focusing on how I will pay back my student debt I hope I can be a leader in the mental health community one day, and this scholarship will truly help make my journey a bit easier I’m so thankful you chose me to receive this scholarship, and know you are truly helping someone who will use this to better the world!!! -Nicole :)

From our Student Assistance recipients:

“This will be my third year accepting scholarships from this program, and without the support from it, I would’ve never been able to afford to pay for my schooling. This has opened up so many more opportunities for me not just right now but will affect my life and opportunities further down the line. I’d just like to say thank you for your support and allowing me to pursue further education.” - Isabela, 3rd year

“This program was an excellent chance to participate in. In high school, I was convinced that I would not continue my education; however, once I began this program, I had the support of my mentor and the confidence that I could accomplish it. My story and experience is forever changed by the generosity of donors.” - Sophia, 2nd year

A huge thank you to our donors who made these scholarships possible! We appreciate your support!

Enjoy the last few weeks of summer!

Take care-

Create a ScholarshipHelp us make a difference!

Albany Public Schools Foundation is mailing scholarship checks worth more than $278,000 this month! We’re grateful for the opportunity to impact the lives of so many Albany graduates.

The need is even greater, though. We were only able to fund 100 of the 172 students who applied this year. You can help us make a difference!

You can establish a scholarship for as little as $500 in the name of a family member, friend, or your business. The process is simple. You choose the name of the scholarship and the criteria. We promote the scholarship to students and manage the application process. You can help us recommend the winner!

As an added incentive, APSF will match new scholarships between $2,500 and $5,000. Only a limited number of matches are available, so take advantage of the chance to make a bigger impact!

GAPS Honor Roll

Give your favorite Greater Albany Public Schools teacher or staff member a pat on the back by making a donation to the Albany Public Schools Foundation in their name! With your donation of $15 or more, they will receive a special certificate of appreciation to let them know how much they’re loved! This special certificate will have your name on it (unless you would like to remain anonymous), along with a personalized message. The donation amount will not be on the certificate.

You can thank ANY GAPS staff member! Thank a teacher, bus driver, principal, office staff, janitor, kitchen staff, counselor, librarian, nurse, teacher's aid, or any other special staff member who's made an impact on you!

All donations will benefit the Albany Public Schools Foundation and will go to generate and distribute resources that enrich and enhance education opportunities for all students, encourage teachers to implement innovative education programs, and award scholarships to Greater Albany Public School District students.
