Christian was taken to training camp every day by his cousin Javier. He made his debut in 2004 at the age of 16 with the Ecuadorian team El Nacional. Two years later he had an outstanding participation in the Copa Libertadores. His last club was America de México. In 2005 and 2006 he won the local championship, scoring 29 goals in 83 league games. The teams where he played were: El Nacional, Santos Laguna, Birmingham City Football Club. Return to Santos Laguna. America. The Jaish SC. The pooch died at age 27, after suffering cardiac arrest on July 29, 2013.

Christian Rogelio Benítez Betancourt was born on May 1, 1986 in Quito, Ecuador. From the fourth day of his life he lived with his grandmother in Esmeraldas. Christian Benítez was called "Chucho" because in Ecuador that word has the meaning of "dog" , but not in a bad sense, but rather it represents someone who is constant to achieve his goals. Chucho's biological father is Ermen "La Pantera" Benítez, top scorer in Ecuadorian soccer.
Christian's mother, whom he called Aunt Rita.
