Distillation Equipment In The Process Of Alcohol Formation

The application of distillation equipment in the process of distillation in alcohol formation is basically the separation of alcohol from water. The formation of alcohol involves the boiling of alcohol. Alcohol usually starts boiling at a lower temperature than water. As a result, when alcohol gets heated, the vapors of the alcohol start getting evaporated first and when they cooled down, the condensation liquid contains a higher proportion of alcohol in it. As the evaporation time of water and ethanol are different, similarly the cooling time of water and ethanol are different as well. As they cooled down, they condensed again and converted into liquid form. However, the time of the liquid form conversion of both ethanol and water will be different and due to the time difference, we can easily separate them and

collect them in different containers. The collected liquid which was converted first in the liquid form will have the higher ethanol concentration or you can say will have a higher proportion of alcohol in it as compared to the initial mixture of ethanol and water.

The distilled liquid of ethanol is collected in three phases, the first one is foreshots or it is also called the heads. The second phase is heart and the last phase is known as the tails or you can also say the feints. The separation of the collection of distilled ethanol liquid in three phases is called fraction. The distilled ethanol liquid which is collected in three fractions has different levels of congeners in each fraction. The heads and the tails fractions most of the time undergo the redistillation process because they consist of a very high level of alcohol and are too poisonous. As a final result, the alcohol formed is called spirit. The further procedure of distillation includes the pot still distillation and a column still distillation. The type of distillation depends on the type of spirit formed.
