Daisy is a stunning, purebred, Walker Coon hound. She is 3 years old and weighs about 60 pounds. Daisy is a very sweet, good-natured girl who needs a job. She is with us because she kept taking off from home looking for something to tree! She is very quiet in the shelter but when aroused she will bay. This loving girl is great with kids and other dogs who are friendly towards her. She is looking for a secure home with a job to do!

These 3 small dogs were rescued from a small town on Colorado’s eastern plains where they were living outside in a mobile home park. They are very timid but clearly desperate for love and attention. They will need time and patience and loads of TLC. They are not bonded and can be adopted separately.

Text or call Debra Callihan at 970.209.7030 for more information.

Puddle is a handsome 2-year-old Bull Terrier mix. He is the sweetest lovebug and so well-behaved. He is calm, kind, gentle and great at walking on leash. He was very loved in his home but would resource guard his things from his older brother. However, he does get along with other dogs. We don’t know how he is with cats. Puddle knows “sit” and “shake.” Come meet this charming boy and fall in love!

Senior Spotlight

Grey, formerly a manager at Pawsitively Native, is enjoying retirement after his involvement in a crime spree at the shop, involving a number of torn kibble bags. While all signs pointed to him, this could not be proven in court. Despite this, he now happily lives in lovely Crested Butte with Whitney, enjoying all of the spoils of his alleged crimes. Alongside his sister Moira, Grey was brought to Pawsitively Native by Joan (Hewitt) Farrell after he and several other cats were seized from a hoarding situation in Hotchkiss, Colorado. He quickly became a fan favorite– and it isn’t hard to see why; he is an affectionate cat whose only true flaw is the extent to which he loves food. Grey now can enjoy a warm lap, some catnip, and quality time with the people he loves, while enjoying his new role as a retiree.

Irish soda bread makes the perfect St. Patrick’s Day appetizer

include some popular Irish fare in their festivities won’t want to exclude this recipe for “Irish Soda Bread” from AllRecipes.com.

Irish Soda Bread Yields 11⁄2 loaf (20 servings)

4 cups all-purpose flour

1⁄2 cup margarine, softened

4 tablespoons white sugar

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 tablespoon baking powder

1⁄2 teaspoon salt

1 cup buttermilk

1 egg

1⁄4 cup butter, melted 1⁄4 cup buttermilk

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Lightly grease a large baking sheet. Mix flour, softened margarine, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt together in a large bowl. Stir in 1 cup of buttermilk and egg. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead slightly. Form dough into a round and place on the prepared baking sheet.

Combine melted butter with 1⁄4 cup buttermilk in a small bowl; brush loaf with this mixture. Use a sharp knife to cut an ‘X’ into the top of the loaf.

Bake in preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean, 45 to 50 minutes. Check for doneness after 30 minutes. You may continue to brush the loaf with the butter mixture while it bakes.

SUDOKU

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS

Sudoku puzzles are formatted as a 9x9 grid, broken down into nine 3x3 boxes. To solve a sudoku, the numbers 1 through 9 must fill each row, column and box. Each number can appear only once in each row, column and box. You can figure out the order in which the numbers will appear by using the numeric clues already provided in the boxes. The more numbers you name, the easier it gets to solve the puzzle!
