MFA Chairman I would like to extend a warm welcome to all attending here today for this celebratory Lunch as part of our Centenary Celebrations. As Chairman, I would like to thank my colleagues in the Munster Football Association for giving me the opportunity to represent Amateur Football in Munster, during this centenary year. It is an honour for both myself and my family to do so. During the Month of May & June various Provincial and National finals will be played in Turners Cross both Male & Female and we are delighted to be hosting these finals, especially with a strong Munster representation in the National finals. I would also like to wish all teams Playing in those Finals the very best of luck on the day and hope that they enjoy the special occasion that can be experienced Playing in the Cross. I would also like to thank all the Council Members of the Munster Football Association past and present that served football so well over the past 100 years Go raibh mile maith agaibh

Chairman Munster Football Association

4 Munster Football Association Centenary Programme

FAI President As President of the Football Association of Ireland, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to Turners Cross for this weekend of Cup finals and what an historic weekend it is. Like the FAI itself, the Munster Football Association is celebrating its Centenary season and I want to firstly thank all those who have served the Munster FA in any capacity over the last 100 years and assure them that we are grateful for their dedication to Irish football in general and to Munster football in particular. The volunteers who provide the power behind our game are the people who have made football, in Ireland and in Munster, what it is today. Without the volunteers, the coaches, the match officials and the families and supporters there would be no players and no game. Your contribution is immense and priceless and I know so many of you here this weekend will continue to give your time selflessly to the game of football. For that we are grateful. To all the clubs and players from Midleton FC, Ennis Town, Fairview Rangers, St Michael’s, Villa FC and Douglas Hall, competing in the various Munster FA Cup finals this weekend, the very best of luck. By getting here alone you have clearly enjoyed successful seasons so well done. To those hosting the games here at Turners Cross, to all those officiating and to those of you here merely to enjoy the occasion, please do just that. Enjoy it and savour it. Beir bua agus beannacht!

FAI Chief Executive Officer Congratulations to the Munster Football Association and to all the footballers from Midleton FC, Ennis Town, Fairview Rangers, St Michael’s, Villa FC and Douglas Hall as you prepare for a wonderful weekend of Cup final football at Turners Cross. As an (ageing) Grassroots player myself, I know just how much these finals will mean to the players and their families, their coaches and all their supporters and sponsors on a weekend of Cup finals in Cork, one of the great footballing towns in Ireland of course (and as my President often reminds me!). These games are also the Centenary Cup Finals for the Munster FA, so it will be a particularly significant honour for those who lift the trophies over the three days. I want to wish you all the very best of luck and I know that you will compete for those trophies with real pride on this historic weekend. May I also take this opportunity, on behalf of the Association, to remember Tony Murphy and Vincent Cummins, two stalwarts of the MFA and of Irish football who gave so much of their lives to making our game what it is today. They were devoted to our sport and it is fitting that we remember them today. Finally, I would like to thank all those working behind the scenes to make this series of Cup finals the success we know it will be. Your contributions are really appreciated. May the best teams win but may the experience be a great one for all and live long in the footballing memory for everyone involved, win or lose .

MFA Administrator The Munster Football Association would like to welcome you here today to Turner’s Cross Stadium, Headquarters of the MFA, for our Cup Finals weekend. We are delighted to be celebrating our centenary year and honouring that with two weekends of finals. This weekend we have three Male finals, Munster Youth Cup, Munster U19 Cup & McCarthy Insurance Group Munster Junior Cup. On the 17th & 18th of June we will see four Female Finals being played. Congratulations all who will contest these finals. May has seen a lot of football at Turners Cross, this weekend we will see the 21st to 23rd games being played here this month. The playing surface today is immaculate and we would like to thank our ground staff for their continued hard work. During the month we have hosted 3 FAI Centenary Cup Finals, the FAI Youth, Intermediate Cup & Junior Cups, all won by Munster teams. Congratulations to Douglas Hall, Rockmount AFC & Villa FC. We also hosted three SFAI National Finals, along with several Local Finals and both Cork City FC & Cork City Women’s FC Fixtures, again showing the association’s dedication of using our fantastic facility here for all strands of the game. Over the coming months there are plans to improve Turner’s Cross. The Donie Forde stand will be completely re-seated to enhance the supporters experience. We have plans to retrofit our existing Dressing Rooms to enhance the players’ experience and to upgrade our floodlighting system. These projects are part of a long-term plan to fully upgrade the Turner’s Cross. As you will seen the dugouts have been moved to Derrynane Road and the seating in these dugouts will be upgraded in the coming months. We would like to thank all our sponsors for their continued support and we also invite those interested in sponsoring us to contact munsterfasoccer@gmail.com The very best of luck to all and thank you for your continued support. Yours In Sport

In Memoriam Vincent Cummins Vince became a member of the Munster Football Association in 1975 and, in over 35 years involvement, served the association as Chairman, Assistant Treasurer, and Hon. Treasurer, a position he filled until his retirement in 2009. Vince represented the MFA at FAI Youth, Junior and Senior Levels of the game and sat on a number of different FAI committees. He was a member of the FAI Junior Council 1975-1978, FAI Youth Committee 1978-1990 where he served as Chairman from 1980-1982. He then became a member of the FAI Senior Council in 1990 and served on that body until 2006. Vince was made a Life Vice-President of the FAI in 2006. However, it is involvement in the development of Turners Cross that he will be best remembered for. Over the years he was the main driving force in developing the ground into one of the finest stadiums in the country. When the MFA acquired the ground in 1983, the pitch was in a poor state, as it was surrounded by four grassy banks and the dressing rooms consisting of a galvanised shed. Today the pitch is considered one of the best in the country, the stadium is an all-seater stadium covered on four sides and the dressing rooms are fine and spacious. The ground as it stands is indeed a fitting testament to all of his hard work.
