CHRISTMAS GIFT GUIDE “Decorations up already, it just gets earlier and earlier every year”. We’ve all said it. But as we enter November, the nights are drawing in and holidays are just a memory. We need to be turning our attention to the biggest retailing period of the year, Christmas.

It’s that hectic time when lunch breaks are non-existent and sitting down is a thing of the past (until January anyway). Clients are desperate to have their hair coloured, cut, and styled to perfection for the upcoming explosion of parties in their social calendars. Love it or hate it, the run up to Christmas is the busiest time of the year for our industry and you should cash in on that festive spirit while you can. Feeling stuck? Here are some simple things you can do to maximise your business potential this Christmas...

THERE’S PROFIT IN RETAIL! “My salon doesn’t really do retail,” is a comment often heard when discussing the importance of retail with salons. Yet this statement is less about the willingness of the customer to purchase, and more about the unwillingness of the salon to sell.

With nearly 20% of annual UK retail sales in some way connected to the Christmas period, businesses who don’t attempt to capitalise on their own retailing potential are at major risk of losing out to others who do. Your clients expect to be offered products that suit their needs, it’s part of the service, why should Christmas be any different?

Still not convinced? Then think of it this way. An average salon has 3 employees and is normally open Tuesday to Saturday. Task your members with the achievable target of one gift with purchase deal a day and start

your Christmas retail at November 1st. By Christmas Eve, that will add up to 120 deals. Your deal price multiplied by 120?
