Tailoring equipment and courts so they are sized appropriately for kids makes the game more accessible - and more fun - by allowing them to get involved right from the start.

JTW - JUNIOR TENNIS WORKOUT | Saturdays| 9:00am - 10:30am | Ages: Middle School This intense session is open to Middle School (green dot) players looking to have some fun, hit a lot of balls, and improve their tennis game. This is a fast-paced group, so be prepared to work hard and have some fun!! This is a drill clinic with some instruction AND tennis specific training. We will do a light dynamic warm-up, drills, footwork, training and strategy. Fast, footwork, and FUN are all a part of this junior clinic. Cost: $17/Clinic (Minimum of 4 players per clinic)

Construction continues on the Range Tee and Simulator Building with the brick exterior almost completed, drywall hung and mudded, and our new teeing area graded. Course work is getting closer to being buttoned up with remaining new tees getting sod and remaining bunker work scheduled for completion. Final drainage projects will also be completed in the next couple weeks. These rain events aren't helping, but so far we are looking good heading into grow-in.

Once we have a few grow-in weeks under our belts we'll be able to narrow the window for reopening and begin planning an exact date.

We are still on target for a date in November, so keep your thoughts on good weather semi-warm days and cool nights are perfect!

These are definitely exciting times at ACC and we can't wait to see everyone and begin enjoying our new amenities and beautiful golf course!

Greens & Grounds

Everything has been going well but we are in grass growing mode and focus has been on greens and new sod.

Currently, greens 1-18 are showing outstanding growth. They all look great from 20 feet away but are still a little thin over the top. We have been spraying foliar fertilizer on them weekly to keep them healthy and growing. Our current height of cut is 0.160”. Our goal is to be at .120 by opening. We’ve got a lot of growing to do, but we feel with the latter half of September and the whole month of October that we should be in great shape by the time we open.

All traffic on the greens lately has been light weight. You’ll notice that we have narrow stripes on the greens from our walk mowers. Also, all fertilizer/pesticide applications are with a walk sprayer. This has been taxing on our green and grounds staff. It takes 4 employees to do the job of one when comparing walk mowers to riding mowers. Please be sure to thank the staff for their extra efforts when you see them around the club.

To sum things up. The work left to complete are polymer applications in fairway bunkers. Sand addition and tamping to bunkers. A few tees construction and sodding. Drainage additions on 13&15. Driving range tee grading and sodding and much patience on the greens grow-in.

She graduated from Nightingale Bamford School in New York City and currently is a Junior at Elon University where she is majoring in Sports Management.

Victoria’s favorite food is pizza and her favorite place to visit is London.

She loves to play tennis and is an avid New York Giants fan!

Back home she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and her sweet dog, Rex. She is excited to join the ACC family and looks forward to meeting many new people and becoming integrated in the community here and can’t wait to hit the courts and play some tennis.

Dear ACC Family, For quite some time there has been conversation in committees about the Food and Beverage Minimum here at the Club. Historically minimums were viewed by some as a punitive charge and by others as a way to encourage utilization of the club. Half of the clubs in the U.S. have a minimum and the other half does not. There is a steady movement away from minimums and new clubs are starting to shy away from instituting them. Your Board and Committees have been discussing if we need it and what does it do for our Club?

After looking at the financial and member impacts, it was decided that something needed to change. This past Board meeting the change was approved and will go into effect November 1st.

I think we have an alternative that is not a punitive charge, encourages use, and rewards those members who are heavy users of the club. It will also be much easier for you and for the staff to monitor and manage.

Starting in November there will no longer be a dining minimum. No more managing what day it expires, how much did we spend, or getting charged because you didn't use it. Also starting in November when you are eating or drinking at the club and you get your chit upon closing out, there will no longer be a 15% service charge on that chit. It will simply be the total, sales tax, and an optional line for a tip if you desire to leave one. This will apply to all Food and Beverage purchases made in a la carte facilities (grill, pool, golf snack bar/beverage cart) regardless of whether it is food or alcohol. Club events such as wine dinners, holiday buffets, and entertainment events will be treated like dining room purchases and not have a service charge added to the total either.

What you will see instead is a flat service fee on your statement each month. This modest $30 will be the offset of the minimum and service charge that is applied to Food and Beverage purchases. For those who struggle to meet the minimum this will be a savings. For those who use the club a lot this can be a savings by reducing both the sales tax applied to the service charge on chits as well as reducing the overall service fee you might pay over the month. One of the nice things about this change is that it applies to ALL dining purchases, whereas the minimum only applied to food.

We will still apply our banquet service charge to banquet events to cover the additional labor necessary to set up and breakdown those events.

If you have any questions or concerns over this change, please reach out to me to discuss the specific issue. Ultimately the goal is to make things easier, more user friendly, and the Club better. I hope you take advantage of this value and I get to see you in the dining room!
