MEMBER spotlight
This week's member spotlight is Mr. Phillip Minton, a member of Alamance Country Club since 1981. Mr. Minton and his wife, residents of Haw River at the time, were initially drawn to the club after being invited to the Sunday Brunch Buffet following their visit to Front Street United Methodist Church. Intrigued by the array of offerings such as tennis, pool, and golf, they decided to join in 1981, marking the beginning of a long and enjoyable membership.
Phillip Minton
Hailing from Lincoln County, Mr. Minton pursued his education at the University of Chapel Hill, where he met his wife, Jean Minton. Both were enrolled in the UNC School of Medicine. Recalling the early days of his membership, Mr. Minton shared a charming anecdote about the pool setup, describing a humble shack with a wooden floor connecting to a bathroom and a shower. Adjacent to it stood a small snack bar and a jukebox. Despite the club's evolution, Mr. Minton remains a fervent enthusiast of the pool. One of his cherished memories revolves around the annual New Year's Eve Party, an event no member would miss. He appreciated the strong sense of community and the festive activities, including the provision of hats, crowns, and tiaras for the ladies and children. Offering valuable advice to new members, Mr. Minton encourages them to fully utilize the club's amenities, emphasizing that becoming a member should involve active engagement. From his regular presence at the club throughout the year to the benefits he derives from the gym. Expressing gratitude to the Minton Family for their membership in our community.
