Plants at Our Zoo
Did you know that some animals actively help protect nature? By feeding on animal remains, they play an important role in returning nutrients to the soil and limiting the spread of diseases. Among these remarkable protectors are hyenas, vultures, raccoons, beetles, owls, and flies.
Khanasoor is a perennial, succulent plant growing up to 30 cm tall and is one of the UAE's best-known mountain herbs. Its strong, short roots do not penetrate deep into the soil. It grows among rocks and on mountain peaks above 200 metres, tolerating little water, extreme heat, and harsh cold.
