FOREWORD
Message of Welcome & Foreword from
His Excellency Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa Minister of Oil Chairman, National Oil & Gas Authority (NOGA), Kingdom of Bahrain On behalf of the Government of Bahrain and the National Oil & Gas Authority, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all guests, delegates and exhibitors to the 10th Middle East Refining & Petrochemicals Conference and Exhibition (Petrotech 2016), which is held under the patronage of His Royal Highness the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa. Since its inception in 1996, Petrotech has played a significant role in developing and transferring downstream hydrocarbon technology in the Middle East. As the region’s refining and petrochemical industries continue to grow and diversify, Petrotech 2016 brings a welcome level of expertise to the area. The high quality of the technical programme and associated exhibition of hardware and services reflect the significant number of new projects and expansions already underway or planned. I would like to congratulate the Conference Organising Committee, chaired by Mr. Bakheet Al-Rashidi of Kuwait Petroleum International, and the exhibition organisers for all their hard work and enthusiasm in producing such a comprehensive agenda under this year’s theme ‘Teaming Up for Excellence: Industry, Government and Education’. I am confident that the exchange of experience and technology at Petrotech 2016 will greatly enhance our knowledge of this vital industry and will further contribute towards its advancement. My sincere best wishes for a successful conference and exhibition and a pleasant stay in Bahrain.
Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa Minister of Oil Chairman, National Oil & Gas Authority (NOGA) Kingdom of Bahrain

FOREWORD
Message of Welcome & Foreword from
Bakheet Al-Rashidi Executive Committee Chairman, Middle East Petrotech 2016 President & CEO, Kuwait Petroleum International On behalf of the Executive Committee, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to Middle East Petrotech 2016. Within the last two decades, Petrotech has developed to become an international platform for industry experts, delegates, visitors, and exhibitors to gather from all over the world to exchange knowledge and ideas. The conference theme ‘Teaming Up for Excellence: Industry, Government and Education’ is focused on the symbiosis between downstream oil professionals, government officials and those active in the education and training fields. Synergy between these sectors will lead to the advancement of the downstream industries through the maximisation and exploration of resources, implementation of best practices and benchmarking utilisation. The conference will attract the top scientists and business specialists in their fields, which will encourage business growth, diversification, job creation and career enhancement all for the benefit of the downstream industries. In challenging economic times, optimising the best return on assets will also be a focus of the conference, through energy conservation, new tools for the successful completion of projects, operational excellence and encouraging a culture of reliability and efficient turnaround maintenance. Of vital importance, is to understand the latest developments and trends in the global economy and future shifts in market dynamics. Top management and economists will discuss possible ways forward in an uncertain world. Health, Safety and Environment will also be showcased at Petrotech 2016 in a bid to encourage the creation of a culture of plant safety and environmental practices to help ensure a safer and healthier future for future generations. I am confident that we will all benefit from our mutual interaction at Petrotech 2016. My sincere best wishes for a successful conference and exhibition.
Bakheet Al-Rashidi Executive Committee Chairman Middle East Petrotech 2016
