CONFERENCE A press conference took place at ADSW on Tuesday that marked the launch of the water resources management strategy for the emirate of Abu Dhabi HE SECOND EDITION of the International Water Summit (IWS), which has been taking place at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre this week, has witnessed an increase in visitor numbers with feedback from key exhibitors and conference participants overwhelmingly positive. Ahead of the final day of the exhibition, Ara Fernezian, Divisional Managing Director - UAE for Reed Exhibitions, organisers of IWS, WFES and EcoWASTE, said, “The quality of the visitors and the quality of the contacts that have been made at IWS this year has been strong, and the number of attendees has increased on the successful inaugural event last year.” New features at the exhibition this year have included the Business Matchmaking Program, which has led to a raft of new business partnerships, while seats were at a premium at the IWS Conference thanks to the high quality of the programme and speaker line up. “IWS has become a relevant launch

platform for strategic initiatives that will address local challenges and unleash investments – especially with the launch of the 2014-2018 Water Resources Management Strategy for Abu Dhabi,” Fernezian added. Metito Managing Director and IDA Director Fady Juez said, “IWS has gathered a huge number of world leaders, industry experts, business leaders and other key stakeholders together to enable them to analyse and work at overcoming hurdles and reaching goals concerning sustainable water supplies. “Improvement can be gained from events like IWS by highlighting key issues and educating people on nurturing and adopting best practices, encouraging collaboration and demonstrating what solutions there are and how challenges can be met.” IWS is set to continue its expansion ahead of the 2015 edition of the exhibition, with Fernezian stating that there would be an increased focus on the water-energy-food nexus next year.
