2023 Montgomery Youth Tour
In March, high school juniors from across Lawrence and Morgan counties joined more than 130 students from all regions of the state for the Montgomery Youth Tour. This opportunity is sponsored by the Electric Cooperatives of Alabama and the Alabama Rural Electric Association as part of a grassroots program to educate students about electric cooperatives, cooperative ideals and various aspects of state government.
They had opportunities to meet with State Rep. Parker Moore, State Rep. Terri Collins, and State Rep. Scott Stadthagen. They visited historic sites and learned about leadership and even got to sing at the same church Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once preached in.

Joe Wheeler EMC is proud to be able to support these up and coming leaders of our communities. Our 2023 Montgomery Youth Tour students are: Arlie Armstrong, Hatton High School; Kensley Bowling, East Lawrence High School; Ava Boyll, Lawrence County High School; Sarah Chambers, Priceville High School; Gracie Echols, Brewer High School; Madison Horton, East Lawrence High School; Ashlyn Jones, Decatur Heritage Christian Academy; Walker Letson, East Lawrence High School; Ava Mause, Danville High School; Olivia Mitchell, Lawrence County High School; Ally Naylor, Lawrence County High School; Olivia Peluso, West Morgan High School; Carson Posey, East Lawrence High School; Connor Simmons, Hartselle High School; and Braxton Voss, Priceville High School.
