July is Park and Recreation month

This theme aligns perfectly with the efforts Arab Park and Recreation has been focusing on: Focusing on making positive changes to our park facilities and making sure that our community has something that we are proud to share with neighboring communities.

Planning started in early 2022 for a much-needed update to our park which would update the entire ball field including fencing, irrigation, restrooms, lighting, concessions stand, adding more functional space for everyone that visits. Beyond their daily duties, our park department also goes above and beyond to organize engaging community events and programs, from growing our Farmers Market and Back When Fair to hosting Tea Parties, Nerf Wars, and a Picnic in the Park event.

A new joint program with The Arab Police Department is called Rec on the Go. Rec on the Go is a mobile unit that will be visiting areas in our community throughout the summer providing recreational activities at various locations and giving the children a chance to have positive interactions with various community workers.

While we have many things going on visible to the public, everyone doesn’t get a chance to see the things going on behind the scenes. We have a great number of individuals that come to work daily to make sure our park is the best that it can be. The Park and Rec family includes Eric Hayes, Brian Camp, Jason Bridges, Greg Tidmore, Pam Hayes, Maranda Taylor, Megan Holm, Dana Walker, Dennis Stamm, Matt Williams, Mark Norman, Brandon Clark, Duston Bennett, Daniel Dailey,

As park and recreation professionals, they make a positive impact in Arab every single day.

As members of this community, let us all take a moment to express our gratitude whenever we visit our park. Together, we can ensure that the legacy of our park department’s hard work continues to flourish for generations to come.

We thank our exceptional park department for their outstanding efforts in making our parks where the community grows. Your dedication is an inspiration to us all.
