Notice to Electric Cooperative Members of Investment in Broadband

Cullman Electric Cooperative (CEC) has been approved by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to invest a portion of electric system funds to Cooperative Connection, LLC d/b/a Sprout Fiber Internet (Sprout). This notice is being provided pursuant to TVA’s transparency requirements.

CEC has been approved to use up to $2 million of electric funds to help fund the deployment of high-speed broadband to its members in its service territory over the multiple years of broadband deployment. The total fiber investment for electric system improvements and for broadband deployment is expected to be approximately $94 million over several years. Sprout will repay the $2 million loan, with interest, in 10 years or less. The deployment of fiber for electric improvements and high-speed broadband is not expected to have an impact on electric rates. This initial funding was provided in 2020 and 2021, and Sprout has begun repayments to CEC during the past year. Any questions regarding this notice should be directed to sprout@cullmanec.com.
