YOUTH TOUR 2023 The adventure of a lifetime
After making their mark on Montgomery, the four students who started as strangers, embarked on their biggest adventure yet, the nation's capital.
Abby Jordan from Daphne High School, Jessica Welch and Myah Riggs from Robertsdale High School, and Molly Caruthers from Baldwin County High School, represented Baldwin EMC on the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association Youth Tour trip to Washington, D.C. They were joined by their peers representing cooperatives from across the country.
Their adventure began when the four students departed from Baldwin EMC headquarters to the airport, where two of them received their wings for their first flight! Once they made it to Washington, D.C., that's when the real fun started.
The students and their peers visited Washington's historical and significant landmarks like the Arlington National Cemetery, George Washington's Mount Vernon, the White House, a moonlit monument tour and so much more.


They even had the opportunity to speak with a Korean War veteran at the Korean

War Veterans Memorial.
But this wasn't just a trip focused on sightseeing and picture-taking, although there was definitely plenty of time for that! It was an opportunity to discover lessons from our nation’s history and be immersed in the cooperative spirit that built our country as we know it.
They were able to do that by participating in leadership-building activities, and attending meetings with legislators.
We are so proud of Abby, Jessica, Myah and Molly, and the way they represented Baldwin EMC. Although this chapter of their adventure has come to a close, they were able to bring home a souvenir that no
