Akron Artworks aims to provide expert art instruction and therapeutic activities to children and adults in the Akron, OH area.CoOwners, Micah and Karin each bring their respective expertise and passions to this family business. Micah, an artist and art educator, and Karin, a clinical psychologist, together imagined a creative space where individuals of any age can explore art materials, develop their creative selves, and soothe the soul through stress-reduction.

The staff at Akron ArtWorks have developed a plan to safely welcome everyone back to the Studio! In order to keep everyone healthy please do not come in to the studio if students are feeling ill including but not limited to fever or cough. They will need to return to home for the health and safety of everyone! In order to ensure the health and safety of our students and our staff we have implemented the following policies: Total class/camp sizes will be limited to a maximum of 8 students, to ensure safe distancing. Students will be assigned to specific work-spaces at least 6-8ft apart. There will be sufficient room for them to work sitting or standing comfortably. There will be no sharing of materials/art supplies. Students will receive personal material kits for use over the duration of camps/classes. Materials will be safely filled and stored in the studio until the camp/class is over then students can take material kits home. Face coverings are required for students and staff. We will provide to those in need at no charge. Staff are required to wear gloves. Gloves are optional for students (but are provided). All work-spaces, sinks, restrooms, and other touchable surfaces will be sanitized before and after each class/camp. For camp students with longer duration activities. Each student will take breaks outdoor under supervision in groups of 2-3 to give them a chance to stretch/snack at a safe distance. Pick-up of materials for online camps/classes is scheduled and curbside only.

Want to give your young artist a break from Zoom school? We are offering weekly in-studio classes. Sign up for one or all of them! Each class limited to 8 kids to ensure social distancing and maximum creativity. Not able to make it in-studio? We will also offer Art Breaks through Zoom, art kit is included. Fee: $25/class or Sign up for all 9 weeks and receive a $25 studio credit! In-Studio: Wednesdays 1:00-2:30pm / Thursdays 2:00-3:30 or 4:15-5:45pm / Fridays 11:00am-12:30pm Online Class: Mondays 3:30-5:00pm

KIDS CLASSES IN-STUDIO

3D Art (ages 7-14)
Saturdays, 10:00-11:00am Instructor: Mellissa Redman Fee: $130 Explore different media areas of dimensional, from sculpture to clay to paper-mache. The course will build creative skills through exploration.
Life Drawing (ages 7-14)
Jewelry Making I (ages 10-14)
Saturdays, 3:15-4:15pm Instructor: Molly Stitt Fee: $130 Introduction into the art of jewelry making. Artists will learn the basics along with how to incorporate other art styles into the medium.
Saturdays: 11:45am-12:45pm Instructor: Mellissa Redman Fee: $130 Learn about observation, proportion, and perspective. Students will draw from models of people, animals, and other objects.

Jewelry Making II (ages 10-14)
Saturdays, 5:00-6:00pm Instructor: Molly Stitt Fee: $130 This course is designed to be a continuation of the introduction to jewelry making class. Students will expand their skills and build on pervious lessons.
Anima and Manga Drawing (ages 7-14)
Saturdays: 1:30-2:30pm Instructor: Mellissa Redman Fee: $130 Students will draw and sketch Manga and Anime style characters, learning the characteristics of eye shape, hair styles, and other distinct features of this popular drawing style.

Story Book Art (ages 4-7)
Saturdays, 9:00-10:00am Instructor: Micah Beree Fee: $130 The life of an artist will be told through a storybook which will teach your artist about the life and work of artist such as Georgia O'Keeffe, Kieth Haring, Frida Kahlo. After the book we will discuss the art and take inspiration to create a masterpiece of their own.
Painting Extravaganza (ages 7-14)
Saturdays, 10:15-11:15am Instructor: Micah Beree Fee: $130 This online course introduces students to a range of painting techniques, including different application methods to develop an awareness of line, volume, form and color. Students will complete a variety of projects in this foundation class.
Drawing in 3D (ages 7-14)
Saturdays, 11:30-12:30pm Instructor: Micah Beree Fee: $130 Using pencil and paper, this online course explores drawing in 3dimensions. We will create rooms, objects, persons, and animals using shading and perspective to create the illusion of depth.
The online classes are really fantastic. Our son did one, then immediately asked to do another. The class works well over zoom. -Â Kristina

Intro to Oil Painting (ages 15-Adult)
Sundays, 3:15-4:45pm Instructor: Mellissa Redman Fee: $145 This course is designed to be an introduction to the art of oil painting. Artist will learn the skills and techniques of oil painting while creating wonderful works of art.
The safety protocols that are in place are even more than what the local hospitals are doing! - Jaime Bookbinding (ages 15-Adult)
Saturdays, 3:15-4:15pm Instructor: Rachel Peltzman Fee: $145 IThis course is designed to be an introduction to the art of bookbinding. You will create a number of different bindings from Japanese stab binding to Coptic bindings.

FAMILY SPLATTER
A slam dunk for our family. Thanks Akron Artworks!! -Â Becky Bring the family together and create a gorgeous original masterpiece! Akron ArtWorks has its very own, dedicated SPLATTER room.... a place where creativity knows no limit and fun abounds!! All ages can contribute and the fun has no limits. Family splatter can be scheduled at your convenience and all materials are provided. Canvas sizes range from 30"X 30" to 30"X 60" and will be stretched and sealed to preserve your painting. Prices start at $150, contact the studio directly to schedule.
