KALIBO, Aklan (PIA) – The Philippine Statistics Authority – Aklan is currently conducting the Phase 2 of the Family Income Expenditure Survey (FIES) 2021 in the province of Aklan. According to PSA-Aklan information officer Peter Mangilog, the second visit of the FIES has started on January 10 and will end on February 4, 2022. This is to cover the data from July to December 2021 to complete the FIES 2021. The first visit was undertaken last July 2021 with January to June 2021 as the reference period. KALIBO, Aklan (PIA) -The province of Aklan has 409,938 registered voters for the May 9, 2022 national and local elections, per record from the Commision on Elections (COMELEC) - Aklan Provincial Office. Of Aklan’s 17 municipalities, top five towns with big numbers of voters are Kalibo, with 54,660 registered voters; Malay - 42,135; New Washington - 33,238; Ibajay, 32,920; and Banga - 29,166. Kalibo and Malay are both first class municipalities in Aklan. Kalibo is the capital town while Malay is where the world-famous Boracay Island is. Of the top five vote-rich municipalities, three are in the eastern district namely Kalibo, Banga and New Washington, which are adjacent municipalities, while Malay and Ibajay are located in the second district. spective registered voters are Altavas, with 17,993; Balete, 17,875; Batan, 23,831; Buruanga, 12,598; Libacao, 19,190; Madalag, 13,362; Makato, 21,282; Malinao, 16,428; Nabas, 25,481; Numancia, 24,163; Tangalan, 15,577; and Lezo, 10,039. According to Chrispin Raymund Gerardo, COMELECAklan Information Officer and currently the Municipal COMELEC Officer of New Washington, Aklan, the province will have 694 clustered precincts for the May 9, 2022 elections. “This means that 694 counting machines will be used during the political exercise,” Gerardo said. KALIBO, Aklan (PIA) -All establishments in the public and private sectors in Aklan are now required to have their employees vaccinated against COVID-19. Per Executive Order No. 003, series od 2022 issued by Governor Florencio T. Miraflores, it adopts and strictly implements Resolution No. 148-B, Series of 2021 dated November 11, 2021 issued by the National Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) in the province of Aklan. Employees to be vaccinated, as directed by the E.O., are either permanent, contractual, job orders, probational, trainees, etc. who are

tasked to do on-site work. The Governor said in the E.O., however, that eligible employees who remain to be unvaccinated may not be terminated solely by reason thereof, but they shall be required to undergo RT-PCR tests regularly every two weeks at their own expense for reason of on-site work. In the transport sector, eligible employees/workers of the public transportation services are also required to be fully vaccinated as a condition for their continued operation. The E.O. has also a directive for the transacting public in Aklan. Section 3 of the E.O. states

According to Chief Statistical Specialist Antonet B. Catubuan, all data provided by respondents in this survey are treated with strict privacy and cannot be used for taxation, investigation or for other law enforcement purposes as provided for by law. She emphasized that whoever breached the confidentiality of information, whether by carelessness or improper behavior, will be liable as under Section 27 of RA 10625 (Philippine Statistical Act of 2013), and Section 7 of RA 6713 (Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards of Public Officials and Employees). A total of 1, 539 households spread in 85 barangays were selected as samples for this survey round in Aklan. Fifty four data collectors were deployed by PSA-Aklan to conduct the house to house visit and gather data from respondents. Among the information being collected from the samples comprise expenditures by family on food, clothing, electricity, household equipment, health, transport, communication, education, restaurants, and miscellaneous goods and services. Also included are housing characteristics, social protection such membership and benefits from 4Ps and senior citizen, and sources of income both in cash and in kind. Along with FIES, the Labor Force Survey is also being conducted using the same sample. that public and private establishments may validly refuse entry and/or deny service to individuals who remain unvaccinated or are merely partially vaccinated, despite being eligible for vaccination, provided that frontline and emergency services shall continue to be rendered to all persons regardless of vaccination status. As for those who could be exempted from the vaccination requirement, the E.O. emphasized that only the medical clearance issued by the Municipal Health Office or the Provincial Health Office, or a birth certificate shall serve as a valid proof of ineligibility for vaccination. Those who are fully vaccinated, according to the E.O., will be given priority in availing government programs and services. Data also showed that 73,490 or 38.08% of the economic frontliners (A4); 93,936 or 165.05% of the A5 or indigent population; and 20,994 (70.43%) of the rest of the adult population; are fully vaccinated. For the pediatric population with co-morbidities and the rest of the 12 to 17 years old population in Aklan - 231 and 36,554 children, respectively, have received the complete doses of vaccines against the coronavirus.

With the on-going surge of cases of COVID-19, PHOAklan appealed to residents and workers that besides on strictly following the health protocols, everyone should get the complete doses of the vaccines as well as of the booster shots to have full protection against COVID-19.
