Aiya Perrine

Hello, everyone! My name is Aiya, and I’m the new ALT at Tsurumai ES and Minami Honjo JHS. I am from Harrisonburg, Virginia in the USA. I graduated in May of 2022 from the University of Virginia with a double major in Japanese Language and Literature and in Linguistics. In my spare time, I love meeting with friends, travelling, studying languages, and cooking new recipes. I also enjoy creating art, especially with pen and ink. I am very excited to be in Akita and to meet all of you!

Julia Wheelehan

Hey! My name's Julia and I'm a first year ALT. Before coming to Kazuno City, I lived in Florida, USA, and a few other places before that. I like to read, write, and listen to Taylor Swift. When I'm not stumbling through conversations in Japanese, you can find me exploring the beautiful scenery that Akita has to offer.

Tyron Stewart

Howzit, everyone. Name’s Tyron Stewart and I’m brought to you from the lovely continent of Africa, and specifically the country of South Africa (super creative name, I know) and I’ve been here since mid-August. I’m a new ALT in Kitaakita City, specifically in Aikawa, working at Aikawa JHS and ES, as well as Seyio Elementary. I enjoy nature hikes, reading and writing fiction about things like magical realism and modern fantasy, video games and rolling them sweet dice (not the cool ones that make you money and get you thrown out of casinos, but the cooler ones used for killing dragons and doing silly voices). I’ve been having a great time in Japan and Akita and looking forward to having an even better one. As we say back home, “Wees geluk en geniet dit”.

Gabriel Tasma

I'm from Tupelo, Mississippi in America. I am currently placed in Kitaakita of Akita, Japan, and I teach at Hokuyō Highschool as well as Noshiro Highschool (Futatsui Campus). My hobbies include traveling, reading and writing fantasy books, and trying new foods. It's been a lifelong goal of mine to teach with the JET program and so far it has exceeded my expectations in every way. The Students and teachers are amazing, the friends I've made so far are some of the best I've ever had, and every day is a new adventure that brings new and exciting challenges and surprises

Leatile Modie

I am Leatile Modie from Gaborone, Botswana. I am placed at Tsuchizaki Minami ES and Ushijimi ES. My hobbies are playing football (the real one!), cycling as well as traveling. I enjoy eating Japanese cuisine such as tempura, sushi and soba.

Michelle Saucedo Espinosa

Hello! My name is Michelle Saucedo Espinosa. I was born in Mexico and grew up in California, USA. I graduated from California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) with an English degree and a Japanese minor. I love watching movies (especially Studio Ghibli) and listening to music. I also enjoy exploring new places around me. I am placed in Yurihonjo city!
