The LTG's Thoughts... Hello Everyone! The end of summer is nigh, and the beginning of the new school year is near! As always, I'm here to help out with anytime you need any assistance, or if you have anything on your mind, so don't be afraid to reach out to me! Details for the upcoming Regional Training Conference to train our new officers will be coming out very soon, so be out on the lookout for that! Other than that, please stay healthy and start preparing for the new year! Sincerely, Akhil Pinnapareddy

Updates AUGUST DCM As a reminder, a DCM will be held on the second Tuesday of every month. However, I will be out of the country for most of this month, so a DCM is not feasible. However, I will be sure on update everyone on any important news and I'll still be able to help anyone with any questions.

OFFICER ELECTIONS Just like last month, if your club has not completed elections yet, please conduct them ASAP... As soon as elections are complete, please fill out the form on the email with officer and advisor contact info.

YOF Grant YOUTH OPPORTUNITIES FUND The Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF) grant is available for Key Clubs in good standing to apply for support with a service project (grant allows from $250-2,000). A Key Club in good standing means that the club’s yearly dues must be paid before you can qualify to receive a grant from the Kiwanis Children’s Fund. Qualifications: 1. Have Key Club member engagement 2. Fill a need within your community. Determine that need by completing a community needs assessment. 3. Support activities within at least one Children’s Fund cause area: health, education or youth leadership development. 4. Spend the grant money within 12 months of when the grant was awarded.

APPLICATIONS Applications are received in two cycles; the two deadlines are October 15 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. and March 1 at 11:59 p.m. EST. A club cannot receive more than one grant per Key Club year. Grant applicants are emailed about outcomes and a list of grant recipients is posted online four weeks following the deadlines (I.e., November and April). More information here: https://www.keyclub.org/youthopportunities-fund/

Collegewise believes that applying to college should be an exciting time for students and parents, not a stressful, anxietyridden rite of passage. Every year, the organization creates customized plans to ensure that every student gets the academic support they need and is fully equipped to complete their applications thoughtfully, effectively and early.

Landscape Structures (LSI) has joined Kiwanis International as a vision partner to bring play to communities across the globe. LSI is proud to provide high-quality commercial playground equipment and planning consultation services that reflect the high degree of integrity that Kiwanis clubs expect.

Happiness is not just a state. It’s a skill that anyone can learn. Every step toward happiness matters — no matter where you live or work, no matter who you are or what you do. You can help people take those steps in the Virtual Race for Wellness. Take part and help Project Happiness reach its goal of bringing programs to those who need them most, regardless of financial constraints.

Major Emphasis

The Thirst Project hopes to educate the next generation by arming students with information about how they can be a part of social change, make a difference and encourage others to join in the effort.

Since the 1940s, Key Clubs have worked with March of Dimes to make a positive impact in the lives of babies everywhere. Today, Kiwanis members continue that culture of service by supporting the March of Dimes all year long by hosting service projects, raising funds and educating communities about the crisis of preterm birth.

Members work together by sponsoring fundraising events and conducting service projects at their local children's hospitals. Contact your local CMN hospital and invite a representative to a club meeting to share ideas and create a partnership.
