REHABILITATION CENTRE OF EUROPEAN LEVEL

The Rehabilitation Centre of the Beroun Hospital is a very modern, well-equipped facility, one of the best of its kind, and not only in the Czech Republic. The centre offers a wide range of rehabilitation programmes. It provides early medical rehabilitation treatment to both outpatients and inpatients. They have single to triple rooms, equipped with modern reclining beds, private bathroom, TV and wi-fi connection.

Patients are cared for by a team of qualified health care professionals: rehabilitation doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, clinical speech therapists, clinical psychologists, prosthetists, nurses and junior medical employees. The aim of complex medical rehabilitation is to eliminate or maximally influence the patient’s disability in all areas, to improve his/her quality of life as much as possible and to contribute to full working capacity as well as to its integration to the company.

MATERNITY HOSPITAL U SLUNEČNÍ BRÁNY

Our Hořovice maternity hospital U Sluneční brány is one of the most popular in the Czech Republic. Up to 1 800 children are born in our hospital every year.

The modern facilities of the maternity hospital offer expectant mothers four luxurious, completely separate delivery rooms equipped with the latest technology. All delivery rooms have a positioning bed and a bed for newborn treatment, privatecc bathroom with toilet, TV, wifi and facilities for the father.

The maternity ward includes an operating theatre for caesarean section and the six-week ward. Our maternity hospital has the status of a perinatology centre of intermediate care with the possibility to provide care to newborns from the 30th week of pregnancy. A significant advantage of our maternity hospital is that mothers-to-be do not have to register for the birth in advance.

STATE-OF-THE-ART MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING

AKESO POLICLINIC in Prague’s Nové Butovice has state-of-the-art Siemens Magnetom Vida magnetic resonance with a magnetic field strength of 3 tesla. The device can examine patients regardless of their physical constitution, in a very high resolution and short time. The device has sensors embedded in the pad that allow detection of patient movement and suppression of movements from free breathing.

This provides physicians with unrivalled image documentation to establish the correct diagnosis.

For patients who are afraid of being in a closed space, we offer special glasses with an audiovisual program during the examination. This unique technology also makes the examination of young children much easier and more comfortable.

DEPARTMENT IN HOŘOVICE

The Arthroscopy Centre at the Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun was opened in the autumn of 2008 and quickly built a reputation as the best arthroscopy centre in the Czech Republic. Thanks to a team of experienced doctors, four modern operating theatres, quality instrumentation and perfect facilities for patients and medical employees, we have become one of the most distinguished workplaces. In 2021, we have celebrated 40,000 patients operated on at our centre and perform over 4,600 arthroscopic surgeries a year.

The centre is also connected to a new day care unit and technical facilities, served by a newly built air conditioning system. All rooms are modern and have private bathroom, TV and internet access. Patients are discharged from the day care unit within 24 hours to home treatment or transferred for rehabilitation.

The Orthopaedic Department of Hořovice Hospital performs over 1,600 large joint replacements per year.

In 2014, Hořovice Hospital became the first healthcare facility in the Czech Republic, where a specialised ward for chronically ill paediatric patients was opened. The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (ICU) provides multidisciplinary chronic intensive care and resuscitation care for children of all ages who are very seriously or terminally ill.

In addition to the perfect medical equipment, the department has a large number of compensatory aids to set the maximum comfort of the child at the bedside. High-quality, highly specialised nursing care is provided here in line with current scientific knowledge. The cost of building the new pavilion exceeded CZK 76 million.

THE LARGEST BLOOD

TRANSFUSION STATION IN

With approximately 12 000 blood donations per year, the blood transfusion station is one of the largest blood donation sites in the Central Bohemia Region. It regularly supplies a number of Prague hospitals with the most precious liquid.

More than 5,000 honorary blood donors are registered in the Hořovice Blood Transfusion Department’s register. The department also cooperates very closely with the Czech Hematopoietic Cell Donor Registry.

COOPERATION WITH TEACHING HOSPITALS AND SPECIALISED CENTRES

Establishing and deepening cooperation with teaching hospitals and specialised centres is very important for all medical facilities of AKESO holding.

We are partners not only in the treatment of our common patients, but also in the undergraduate education of medical students and medical schools, as well as in the postgraduate lifelong learning of healthcare professionals. The need for further expansion and deepening the qualifications of medical and non-medical employees is a prerequisite for further improving the quality

CUTTING-EDGE ONCOLOGICAL

DIAGNOSTICS AND THERAPY

Multiscan Oncology and Radiology Centre has been providing care in the field of clinical oncology, radiotherapy and radiodiagnostics for 20 years, and not only for patients from the Pardubice Region. Together with the Pardubice Hospital, which provides the inpatient part of oncology, Multiscan forms the Comprehensive Oncology Centre of the Pardubice Region.

Since its inception, hundreds of millions of Czech crowns have been invested in the development and operation of the Multiscan Centre.

The department now has two state-of-the-art linear accelerators for radiotherapy, two magnetic resonance imaging machines, computed tomography, diagnostic and therapeutic X-ray and other modern equipment. The project of transporting patients from the detached workplaces in Ústí nad Orlicí, Svitavy and Hořovice for radiotherapy to Pardubice in our own vehicles is also working very well.

Each year, Multiscan provides care to more than a thousand new radiation therapy patients.

IBD CENTRE:

CLINICAL

AND RESEARCH FACILITIES

The surgical department of Hořovice Hospital includes the IBD Centre, which provides comprehensive surgical and gastroenterological care to patients with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis from all over the Czech Republic. It is a serious and, for the time being, incurable disease. Treatment of IBD patients is long-term, complicated and very costly. Even if patients are treated conservatively, most of them need surgery throughout their lifetime. Therefore, close cooperation between specialists in the field of gastroenterology and surgery is essential for patients.

The Surgical Department of the Hořovice Hospital applies the principles of modern perioperative care (ERAS), which enable rapid postoperative recovery and reduce surgical stress.

The inpatient ward has been completely renovated. Patients who require intensive care are hospitalized in modernly equipped surgical intermediate care beds or in the beds of a multidisciplinary intensive care unit with a connection to the anaesthesiology and resuscitation department.

MENTAL REHABILITATION CENTRE

The project of the Mental Rehabilitation Centre in Beroun is unique not only in the Czech Republic, but also in the context of whole Europe. The resulting concept of mental health care will allow the use of the most modern approaches to the treatment of mental illness in an environment that provides patients with all possible comfort. The aim of the project is to focus not only on health, but also on human approach and helpfulness.

The centre will provide patients with maximum comfort in the form of luxuriously equipped single and double rooms. Patients will be able to use the swimming pool, sauna, multifunctional hall and other possibilities of treatment support directly in the building. The unique use of circadian rhythm-respecting lighting throughout the Center is an example of AKESO‘s exceptional approach to treating its patients and meeting their needs beyond the scope of routine care.

NEOCLINIC STODŮLKY

AKESO holding has the ambition to build a modern, friendly and technologically and digitally advanced outpatient medical facility of 8,000m2 in the densely populated area of Prague’s Stodůlky. It will be intended primarily for residents of the western part of Prague and adjacent districts of the Central Bohemian Region, which will offer a wide range of preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic care in all fields of pediatric and adult medicine.

An important and unprecedented element of the newly established workplace will be the patient portal, which will allow access to shared information not only for physicians but also for patients themselves. This will significantly increase the quality, continuity and safety of the services offered.

Automation and digitisation of services will create an organisation of care where the patient is truly at the centre.

DATA CENTRES

In 2022, we started the construction of new data centres at the Hořovice Hospital and the Beroun Rehabilitation Hospital. The state-of-the-art data centres will become a significant improvement of the IT infrastructure of AKESO holding‘s healthcare facilities, will bring better services for patients, improve the level of care and will enable the holding to offer these benefits to other healthcare institutions.

The centres will be equipped with all the necessary technologies, including backup connectivity or a backup power source. For the patients themselves, the data centres will ensure, for example, the upcoming patient application solution providing, besides other functions, for easy orientation in the holding‘s healthcare facilities. At the same time, they will help to improve the level of care provided „from within“. It will improve the infrastructure for ordering patients to specialist practices, for example, and will also improve the exchange of data between physicians, which will be even safer and faster than before.

The Beroun data center is designed in the so-called Tier III standard, which means, among other things, a maximum of 1 hour and 36 minutes of unavailability in the year. The centre in Hořovice will even be certified according to the Tier IV - Design standard, which guarantees a maximum of 15 minutes of unavailability per year. The centre in Hořovice will be the only Tier IV data centre in Central Europe.

The Hořovice hospital is more than an ordinary regional hospital. It offers a wide range of outpatient clinics and counselling rooms connected to individual inpatient wards.

Specialized health services are provided beyond the basic medical disciplines through the departments of orthopedics, neurology, pediatrics, surgery, urology, gynecology and obstetrics, neonatology, anesthesiology and resuscitation, and internal medicine.

AKESO POLICLINIC offers medical services in a modern facility in Prague’s Nové Butovice. With the support of Hořovice Hospital and AKESO holding, it provides diagnostic and outpatient care for children and adolescents as well as selected health services for adults. Multiscan also operates clinical oncology clinics in Chrudim, Svitavy and Ústí nad Orlicí. Since January 2019, the Oncology Department of the Hořovice Hospital has been operating as another detached workplace. In addition to the clinical and radiation oncology outpatient clinics, the centre also has a radiodiagnostics department located at the Vektor Polyclinic in Pardubice.

MULTISCAN PHARMA

The pharmacy specialised in medicines for oncology patients was established in 2008 as an offshoot of the Multiscan Oncology Centre in Pardubice. Currently supplies specialty drugs for cancer patients to all facilities of AKESO holding, to all facilities of the Comprehensive Oncology Centre of the Pardubice Region (KOC PK) and also to the inpatient department of clinical and radiation oncology of the Pardubice Hospital.

The specific layout and equipment of the two aseptic areas of the pharmacy complying with the current legal standards enables the preparation and dispensing of sterile medicinal products. Both cytostatics and targeted (biological) drugs are prepared here directly for patients according to the individual requirements of the attending physician at the time of their need.

Thanks to pneumatic tube, the pharmacy is able to deliver the medicine to the patient within the Pardubice Hospital within half an hour of the prescription by the doctor.

SENIMED

SENIMED brings together the pharmacies of the Hospitals in Hořovice and Beroun. It also includes the pharmacy U Černého orla in Hořovice on the square and the pharmacy in Žebrák.

The pharmacy of Hořovice Hospital supplies medicines to other medical facilities of AKESO holding. Its warehouse has more than 1,300 medicines and food supplements and also has a wide range of orthopaedic and rehabilitation aids intended not only for healthcare facilities, but also for end users. In addition, skilled clinical pharmacists are able to prepare medicines directly tailored to individual clients and departments exactly as prescribed and often on the spot. Treating physicians cooperate with one another while treating their patients. Last but not least, SENIMED also ensures the conduct of clinical trials. Day psychotherapeutic sanatorium Ondřejov, which specializes in the care of patients with psychotic disorders and also patients with addiction to alcohol, gambling machines and drugs. The foundations of the company were laid in 2008 during the privatisation of the Hořovice Hospital and Beroun Hospital. In 2017, CONSTRUCTION TEAM began operating as a development, engineering and a construction company that carries out constructions exclusively for AKESO holding. An in-house contractor reduces the cost of construction by up to 30% compared to hired external companies and can respond more flexibly to the client‘s requirements.
