Job Summary We are looking for a qualified accounting professional who will be in charge of posting journal entries, preparing financial statements, and maintaining accounts, receivables, or payables. An accountant at the Aké Collective will administer monthly payroll for our employees while preparing reports on the progress made throughout each month. A successful candidate in this role will have previous experience in building and maintaining financial reporting systems, and accounting software such as Zoho Books, Quickbooks, or Sage Business. While we operate in Nigeria, an accountant pursuing a role with us must be comfortable working with multiple currencies, fluctuating changes in the global food market, and a wide range of vendors for whom English may not be their first language. Please note that you will have to work closely with our finance and admin team who work remotely across across Lagos, Abuja, and Jos.
Main Responsibilities

Manage all accounting transactions Prepare budget forecasts Publish financial statements on time Handle monthly, quarterly and annual closings Reconcile accounts payable and receivable Ensure timely bank payments Compute taxes and prepare tax returns Manage balance sheets and profit/loss statements Report on Aké’s financial health and liquidity Audit financial transactions and documents Reinforce financial data confidentiality and conduct database backups when necessary

Essential Education Requirements
Comply with financial policies and regulations Reconciling the company’s bank statements and bookkeeping ledgers Completing analysis of the employee expenditures Initiating and managing financial and accounting software used by the company
The desired candidate should have a minimum of bachelors degree in Finance and Accounting or any related fields from a reputable higher institution with recognized professional accounting certifications/licenses such as ACA, CPA, ACCA, etc.
Key Skills Required

Computer proficiency including GSuite of products including Google Sheets, Google Docs, Google Slides, Gmail or their Microsoft equivalents

Experience with accounting software and data entry
●
Excellent understanding of accounting rules and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
