Are you excited to be spending Christmas in York this year?
I cannot wait to be spending the festive period in the beautiful city of York. It’s been a few years since my last visit so I can’t wait to get out and explore. Plus, the York audiences are always some of the best!
What are your favourite things about being in panto?
There are so many to choose from. But I think my absolute favourite thing is being on-stage, looking out on the crowd and seeing a whole family together enjoying the show and creating memories – the babies, the kids, mums, dads, grandmas, grandads, aunts and uncles. All together watching the same show, laughing at the same moments, singing and clapping along. There aren’t many shows you can take your whole family to.
Is it true you love the story of Beauty and the Beast? And how do you feel about playing the role of Fairy Bon-Bon?
Now, when I say I’m obsessed, I’m not over exaggerating! I’m currently sat here, doing this
interview, wearing a Princess Belle top and Beauty and the Beast leggings. It’s my absolute favourite and always has been. So, the fact I get to do it again is beyond exciting. Fairy Bon Bon is an absolute hoot! And you’re all going to love her. She’s as mad as a box of frogs! And I love every second of playing her. I would do it every year if I could.
Do you think there’ll be any Tracy Beaker references in the Panto? Will you get to say, ‘Bog Off!’?
I have no doubt I’ll be screaming it in someone’s face!
Do you have any pre-show rituals?
I always go over my lines just before I step out on-stage. And I’m always early. But I’m like that in life. Anyone that knows me knows I turn up at least thirty minutes early to everything!
After becoming a finalist in Strictly, do you hope you’ll get the opportunity to dance in the panto? They can try and stop me from dancing! I always find a way to sneak in some dance moves even when they’re not wanted!
Unleash the beast and the magic of pantomime with this year’s sparkling musical fairy tale.
Join Belle, the Beast, Fairy Bon Bon, the exuberant Polly La Plonk and her cheekychappy son Louis La Plonk as they are transported to a cursed castle, under the spell of an evil enchantress. Can the wicked Hugo be defeated, can Belle see beyond the Beast and fall in love with her captor, will the Beast’s heart be melted by Belle’s beauty?
The most enchanting pantomime of all time, Beauty and The Beast, comes to York with a sparkling fairytale production for all the family. With an award-winning script by Jon Monie (Great British Pantomime Awards, 2019), a cast of larger than life characters, side-splitting comedy, sumptuous costumes, fabulous scenery, and a thrilling transformation scene.
